Chapter 31: "...I'll be there..."

Music recommendation: I swear//All-4-one

Laughter filled the air as they played in the sand and swam in the ocean. Berry couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected turn of events that brought them here. As the day wore on, he realized that sometimes the best moments were the ones you never planned for.

As the sun began to set, casting a vibrant display of colors across the horizon, they gathered around a bonfire. Everyone shared stories, and Stuart and Berry found themselves sharing their own. Berry recounted their early morning shopping adventure, a tale that drew laughter and camaraderie from the group.

Jake stood up and raised a toast to celebrate his birthday and the incredible day they had all shared. He thanked his friends, both old and new, for being a part of this unforgettable experience. Berry looked at Stuart and smiled, his eyes reflecting the emotions that were threatening to overwhelm him. He was so happy that he was scared, scared that he was just dreaming about this and that he was going to wake up soon. That thought didn't last long though, as Stuart pulled him from the group around the bonfire, and they went to another group near the vast sea that was playing in the sand. They got involved, making sandcastles and many other things that could be formed with the beach sand. They were at the peak of enjoyment when something flew into Stuart's eye, and they had to discontinue.

After washing his face, Stuart took Berry's hand, and they took a walk on the beach, far away from where the others were, their feet picking up the loose sand whenever they took a step. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, and they both found extreme comfort in the moment. With fingers intertwined, they walked in silence, the only sound being the sea water hitting the shore, which only served as a soothing backdrop.

"You seem happy," Stuart suddenly said, breaking the silence that had swallowed them. Berry's smile broadened, his eyes crinkling at the sides, and he faced Stuart. "I am," he affirmed. Whatever had happened today, he was sure that he was going to remember it for a very long time, and by a very long time, he meant something close to eternity. Who would forget such a day? Meeting new people and making new friends, throwing beach balls at people you barely know, dancing around the bonfire without a care in the world, and most of all, spending an entire day with Stuart. Even if he were to lose his memories, this is something he would never forget.

Just then, two girls around their age came running toward them. One of them was wearing nothing but a bikini, while the other was wearing a loose shirt with a long skirt. They were both blondes and looked beautiful.

"Stuart!" The one in a bikini called, her tone tinged with affection. She tucked her hair behind her ear while struggling to catch her breath. Berry immediately felt dislike for her the moment she called Stuart, not to mention her attire that was barely covering her chest.

"Hey Stuart, I have been looking for a chance to talk to you since you arrived," she said enthusiastically and instantly dragged Stuart into a conversation with her. Apparently, she is also a friend of his from college like Jake. If Berry didn't hate her before, he certainly did now.

He tuned out their voices completely, already formulating ways to end the girl's life. He was still so into his thoughts that it took Stuart pulling him to get him to respond.

"Huh?"

"Do you mind if they take a picture with us?" Stuart repeated the question he had asked so many times. They all stared at him in anticipation, waiting for his response, but their faces fell when Berry shook his head in refusal.

"Please, Berry, just one photo. Pretty please," the other girl with a long skirt and fully covered chest pleaded, and Berry was almost moved to nod. But he maintained his ground. If he wanted to take a picture, he didn't want the other girl to be in it.

"Come here," Stuart suddenly hooked his arm around Berry's neck and pulled him down, their faces almost touching. The shock of the pull left Berry wide-eyed and facing Stuart, and he only recovered when he heard the sound of the shutter. The selfie was already taken, and Berry was sure he looked bad in the photo, judging by the laughter coming from the other three.

"Send me a copy later," Stuart requested, and the girls soon left while giggling happily, like they had just received some awesome gifts. Berry was left pursing his lips while Stuart teased him as they walked. The slow music from the speakers reached their ears, and they swayed to the rhythm.

"Dance with me, Berry," asked Stuart as he held out his hand, waiting for Berry to take it. Without hesitating, Berry placed his palm over Stuart's, and he was pulled closer the moment their hands touched. Their chests pressed together, and their eyes locked. One look at them, and one would become aware of the tension brewing between them.

Under the soft glow of the setting sun, Stuart began to move, taking Berry along with him. Each movement was synchronized, as if they shared a secret language of their own, expressing their emotions through the fluidity of their dance. The laughter, music, people, and the vast ocean faded away, and only their hearts, beating in perfect harmony, could be heard between them. Their locked eyes reflected a genuine connection between them, each of their eyes carrying a deep sense of trust in one another.

Lyrics: "...And I swear by the moon and stars in the skies…"

With the horizon painted in hues of orange and pink, they continued dancing, adding to the beauty of the moment. The deep sense of longing between them was clear as they moved with passion and desire radiating from their very hearts.

Lyrics: "...I'll be there…"

They wanted this moment to last longer, even though they knew it was going to end soon. The reality was going to hit them the moment this song ends. And this knowledge did nothing but fuel their desire even more.

Lyrics: "...And I swear like the shadow that's by your side…"

They reveled in the beauty of the moment. In this intimate dance, every step seemed to whisper the words they couldn't quite articulate. With each movement, they shared the depth of their connection, making the world around them disappear.

Lyrics: "...I'll be there…"
