Chapter 13: Contract

Advika POV :

With a deep sigh, She dialed the familiar number.

"Hello, R.S industries, how can I help you ?" Again a very familiar voice spoke from the other side of the line.

Advika coughed to hide her nervousness, then steeled her shoulders and spoke,

"Hello, Advika Suryavanshi here, may I talk to Mr. Batra please ?"

This morning she decided to execute her plan. She just wants to get it over with. Sounds like an easy plan. Only sounds.

Whatever, she already dialed the number at least 20 times but before it could connect,the anxiety in her made her disconnect it 20 times. I mean...WHO QUIT JUST AFTER THEY GOT THE JOB ? She does. That's why.

What if "he" will pick the call. Although the idea was completely ridiculous but she couldn't help but think all of these stupid possibilities. Better take precautions. Who knows where bad luck will take her.

While her interview, she read the interviewer name as Mr. Batra and that's why she decided to call him and explain her reasons. She can't just call a receptionist and tell her about her quitting the job. She just want to give a heads up to Mr. Batra and if he wants, she can go there in person to give her resignation letter.

As she thought the plan was too easy to plan but while doing it,she was praying every single god present up there to help her.

She doesn't have the strength of going throw the past again. Those memories haunt her. Although she is proud of herself for moving of from the past but there will always be a little part in her who wished what if her past was not this messed up.

"Ah,yes Ms. Advika, the same girl who got the job for Personal assistant, right ?" A voice from other side distracted her from her thoughts.

Instantly Advika recognised her as Ananya, that kind Lady who helped her finding the interview room.

She couldn't help but smile at the warmth of her tone. It somehow eased her nervousness.

"Yes, I am the same Advika. So, can you please connect my call to Mr. Batra? Its urgent right now." Faking a strained smile she replied. Not that the lady can see it.

"Oh, okay. Just hold on a minute,girl. I m just connecting you through."

Now she felt bad for not properly greeting Ananya on call. But she just wanted to finish all these.

Many people will think that she is overreacting but they can never understand what she went through. How she gave her everything to one guy and it took one moment for him to crush her, all of her. Everything. It took years for her to recover from the trauma. She is not that brave anymore. Strong ? Yes. But Not brave enough to face past again.

Now,she cannot even afford to face him. The same face who once brought disaster in her life and caused made a mess out of her. She would do anything now not to have those hurtful memories again. And His face will constantly remind her of all the things he did. She just... can't.

Not only he insulted her in front of everyone but he chose someone else over her, who was much better than her according to him. He chose "her" over everything. She was far better than I could ever be. That's what he said last time they saw each other.

Even if he had a girlfriend back there,he still played with her. What a manwhore. He played her and her feelings and left her. She was nothing for him while she thought he was everything for her. Not until her little bubble burst so brutally that she never dared to feel again. And for this, she can never forgive him. Ever.

She was snapped out of her thoughts as she heard a male voice from the other side. Mr. Batra.

"Hello Ms Advika, I was just going to call you. Today is Monday, how come you are not here yet ? Running late ? Its already past your report time Ms. Advika. I know you are a newbie but its not good to arrive late and that too on first day of your work. Boss definitely won't like it at all. He seems all cool but he never gave any free pass to anyone. He doesn't like tardiness."

Okay the guilt was eating her up alive. She feel like such a disappointment.

But doesn't matter that much to her as its all worth it.

She replied in a professional tone,

"Good morning Mr. Batra but I can't come today or anymore at all. I am sorry for doing this at the first day of my job but I would like to quit."

There. Finally she did it. She released a deep breath.

"What ?!!! What are you saying ? Who quit at the first day of their job. You think all of this a joke ?!! Do you think we hire assistants for fun ?" Although he was not barking right now but she can telling he was trying his best to control his tone.

"Sorry sir, but I have some family problems that needs my attention. I am sorry to disappoint you but I can't seem to join as Personal assistant or any position in your company anymore."

She mentally smacked herself for saying this reason. Yeah Yeah. Such an easy plan. Isn't it ?

Family problems ? Really ? Advika you can win only one award in this whole world.

World's Dumbest Award goes to Ms. Advika. Claps. Claps.

"I don't know what yours problems are. You signed the contract, don't you remember ? You can't just leave like this."

Contract ? What contract ?! What does he mean ?

Then she remembered the file they gave her to sign after they informed her that she got accepted for the job. Wait. That was a contract and not to intimation letter ?

Reality settled on her. Contract.

Oh my god ! What was in that contract ! Why can't I leave ? I didn't even read it ! She thought that was an intimation letter to sign. A proof that she is working in company. Same thing happens in her Papa company too. So she automatically assumed.

I mean who let their newbies sign any kind of contract in first place.

"You "her subconscious spoke.

Hey,in my defence I was too happy to notice, came her pathetic reply.

Before jumping to the conclusions,she thought to first ask about the contract. But suddenly decided to do against it as she is already resigning on the phone,that on the first day of her job and if she will tell that she didn't even read the contract too, no sane man in the whole world would give her another job.

Mr. Batra continued

"Never mind. But this is not a way to resign. One has to come in the office and submit her resignation letter to boss. That's company rule. And about the contract, you can talk with the boss while submitting your resignation letter." She can feel he is nervous here instead of her. Why ? She couldn't understand. Why would he be nervous if she is the one going to face the wrath of boss. Only an insane boss will let this things pass so easily. She is doomed.

"Okay I will come by myself to hand my resignation. She agreed. She heard Mr. Batra is relieved and relaxed to hear that.

But

Why is he relaxed ? He should have threatened to sue her or something. Not that she is complaining but why is he relieved now that I agreed to come ? She thought.

After hearing the company rule,she doesn't have other option but to go there and submit her resignation letter. She shouldn't have called in first place and should have directly gone there.

She just hope not to bump into her past. But her guts are telling her "danger alert" already.

Knowing she has no other way, she replied with sigh,"I will be there within an hour sir. Thank you for everything. She decided to hang up now.

"Good." Came his reply but she didn't missed a relief sigh that escaped his mouth again but chose to ignore it. He is weird.

After 40mins,

She is standing before the building R.S industries, squinting her eyes to look at the top floor but can't see because A. It is too high and B. Sun is blasting on her eyes.

But why she is felling as if she did a huge mistake by coming here. She thought while standing there fidgeting from one foot to another. She the squared her shoulders and started entering the building after greeting the guard standing there as if he was already expecting her to come.

Little did she know that she came here at her wish but will leave at his wish.
