Chapter 3: Tower Runner
The humans selected for the tower trials were equipped with a special system that displayed their current status and progress. At the beginning of their journey, they were granted a random Pokémon and a random talent that could only be utilized in the real world, not within the Pokémon world. Eager to grow stronger, the chosen individuals enthusiastically embarked on missions, determined to overcome challenges and earn rewards.
The time flow within the Pokémon world was intriguingly different, with 10 days passing in that realm being equivalent to just 1 day in the outside world. This time dilation acted as a limit, allowing a person to remain in the Pokémon world for a set duration. Due to this time difference, the humans had to be strategic in managing their time, making the most of their days inside the Pokémon world to maximize their progress and achievements.
As they completed missions and cleared floors, the humans were rewarded with various beneficial elements. Some of these rewards included learning random Pokémon moves that they could utilize in the real world, enhancing their combat abilities. Additionally, they received Pokémon items that could be used to further strengthen their Pokémons. These rewards became essential tools for their growth and survival in both worlds, encouraging them to push their limits and excel in their endeavors.
Indeed, passing those missions proved to be an arduous challenge, and not everyone was able to excel. The tower trials demanded a combination of skill, strategy, and adaptability, making it a daunting task for many.
To regulate the number of entries into the tower and ensure fairness, limitations were put in place. Each person was given passes, and they could enter the tower using these passes. Every month, they received one pass. Additionally, those who achieved a B grade in their missions would receive one pass, while those who attained an A grade would receive two passes along with their rewards. The coveted S grade was an elusive achievement that had yet to be attained by anyone, and as such, no records of it existed.
The stakes were high, as failing to perform well in the missions had serious consequences. If a person received five F grades in their attempts, they would be permanently banned from entering the tower. This restriction forced individuals to approach the missions thoughtfully and carefully, dedicating time and effort to prepare for the challenges ahead. The fear of being banned for life served as a powerful motivator, compelling people to push their limits and strive for success in the tower trials.
Through numerous trials and experiences, humans began to devise various strategies, enabling some individuals to shine brightly and receive rewarding enhancements that made them formidable against the devils. As the battles between humans and devils intensified over the course of 30 long years, humanity managed to stabilize its position to some extent. However, the danger was far from over.
Despite the progress made, periodic invasions by the devils continued to occur, resulting in the loss of several lives. The struggle for survival persisted, and the once-thriving human settlements were now reduced to only a few remaining places. Most territories had fallen under the control of the devils, leaving humans confined to small pockets of resistance.
"I hope I can awaken as a Tower runner tomorrow," thought Xavier, his mind restless with anticipation.
