Chapter 31: Card novel

"Hey... Hey... Hey! Are you alive?"

The child quickly woke up from his slumber while being pocket with a metal staff. He looked up at the person whose voice was calling out to him, and soon he saw a familiar face, it was the criminal from before, who was slightly dirty. He wore a backpack full of supplies.

"Oh... Hello again." The child replied as he sat up, refreshed by the long nap he had. The child smiled energetically as he jumped from his sitting position, gathering his balance as he sent himself slightly backwards. "You enjoying your stay?" The child asked, as if the backrooms were a vacation for him.

"So far, so good. I encountered some freaky creatures. Any ideas what those things are?" The man said, as he looked around. Beneath the mask, he was just a normal man, with facial hair and everything.

"Oh..." The child didn't know how exactly to explain it to him, they existed, just like him. "Can't really describe it. They are just the beings that live inside the backrooms, just like me. You can call me also an entity, cause I am not so sure what I am exactly..." The child explained scratching his head with a blank stare at the concrete street he was standing on.

The man looked at him in a strange manner. He had more questions, but he didn't think that he would get any answers about them. In the end, the child didn't even know what he was, he was something. Perhaps he needed to not be bound by a species, or pinned down into being something specific.

The man let out a sigh before speaking up "Thank you, for giving me a second chance..." The man replied patting the child's shoulder before walking away. As the man left the child leaned forward slightly preparing to sprint through a wall towards the frontrooms. Until he saw something fall off his shoulder. A card, slowly reaching out for the ground, till finally falling face down. The child looked at it and picked it up, revealing a card from a game... Most surprisingly It was his old face, which simply looked with a knowing smile and opened arms while looking up, portals all around the character in the card. All of them reaching different levels while he was present at the perfect void in its empty state.

'The summary?' He read the name of the card. 'What Am I? If I am called the summary by this?' The child ran to the man and tried to return the card. "Hey, you left that!" The child yelled as he caught slightly to the man.

"I don't need it... It's the least I can do to thank you..." The man replied looking down at the card with neutral eyes, but a slight smile.

"No! All I wanted from you is to live. Be happy, that's all I ask from you."

"Then I will be happy if you took the card... It's just not my thing... Goodbye, my friend... I wish the best for you." The man said his voice becoming quieter with every word that left his mouth, till there was only silence between them.

"You too..." The child said as he turned around and began walking away. "Goodbye..."

He gave a sigh as his more childish personality jumped in to stop him from overwhelming himself with questions that can't be truly answered. He looked at the card and admired how good he looked in it, and with a clear picture in the mind, the glitched clouds that prevented his old face from surfacing, were gone, letting the old design, but the new mind join in harmony. He smiled.

"Thank you!" He yelled at the man with clear happiness in his voice, but his voice was unheard, yet the energy put behind his words lingered in the air.

"Welp, might try to make a name out of this." The child lifted his shoulders with the card still in hand he began reading the ability of the card, which was neutral. But only one person had control over the effects.

Which said

[Card description]

Flip a coin, which will activate different effects depending on the result. Either Activate level effect immediately, or summon an entity that is present in this level and is in your deck."

[Cut]

"Yeah..." He shook his head up and down. "Now I see why I am called the summary." He looked back down at the card. "Oh God, there is more." He continued reading, the text, which was close to invisible because of how small it is, which forced him to put the card right in front of his face.

[More card description]

[Card description end]

"I felt like I am reading a novel." He said to himself as he chuckled slightly, he liked his card. The card had a triangular symbol x5 which he didn't understood what it meant.
