Chapter 48: Honoring A Deal And Healing Old Wounds

Freedom's Rest

Kratos's eyes narrow as he has been held to many deals before, and rarely have they come to fruition, and if they have, they've most likely been meant to either inhibit him or take something from him.

With this thought, Kratos's hands subtly return to his forearms as he feels the Burns of his blades of chaos still there, burning as if it was the first day he received them.

Emilio then says, "Don't you want them back? Don't you want your nightmares to end? Don't you wish to apologize or truly explain what happened? The gods will never return them to you or eliminate your nightmares, especially now that you've essentially betrayed them."

Kratos then tightens his grip on his weapons as flashes of memory replay over and over again as he feels his blades cutting open his family, and he shouts in response.

"How will you be any different!? I have made promises and have had promises made with multiple gods, and rarely have they panned out. He then continues.

" I have had promises made to eliminate my nightmares to be rid of my guilt and previous actions, and yet it was for naught. As I have only lost more and more."

Instead of answering, Emilio snapped his finger and said to the angry god of war, "Look behind you, Kratos."

As Kratos does so, he is left in complete and utter shock as his wife and daughter stand before him, almost as if confused about where they are, and as they see Kratos, they rush at him and hug him.

Emilio could physically see that Kratos.EXE had stopped working, and it almost brought a chuckle, but he remained silent so as not to ruin the moment.

"Lysandra(Wife), Calliope(Daughter). How are you-" Kratos stops and looks behind him at Emilio smiling at the encounter, but before Kratos gets angry and demands to know if they are fake, Emilio stops that line of thought by saying.

" If you do not believe they are real, ask them a question only they would know."

Kratos then turns to his wife and daughter and asks one question Emilio didn't hear or didn't choose to. As if Kratos wanted to tell him what he asked, he would do so.

But then Kratos hugs both of them tightly as if afraid they'll disappear and gives his wife an intense kiss as the daughter turns away in embarrassment.

Emilio then proceeds to summon some food for Calliope to eat and a chair for her to sit down on that looks like a giant plush of Kratos.

Kratos and his wife then turned back to Emilio, and surprisingly enough, Kratos, the god of war, the man that tears apart gods based on pure rage and impulse, does a slight bow towards Emilio and says.

" Thank you, Lord Libertas, for this service, and I shall repay it as I am honor bound to do so." But Emilio then raises his hand and replies.

" You don't need to do that, Kratos. I did not return them to you, hoping for service in return. You could say I am a rather selfish deity as I like seeing people have good lives and prosperous existences because what is more defining of freedom than living prosperous lives".

" Is that what you are, the god of Lord Libertas, Freedom?" Kratos asks curiously.

"That is one of my domains, Kratos, the others being related to the more esoteric and physical, but let us not focus on that now but on you. What will you do now all of Olympus is against you?" Emilio asks the God Slayer as Kratos ponders his response.

Emilio continues by asking, "You know I could send you to some far-off universe one way you'll never have to fight again and simply live."

"That would be the epitome of cowardice Lord Libertas, and I shall return the pain dealt to me in full I promised myself that the gods will suffer for the injustices and the death of my family, and I will not go back on that."

Emilio sighed as if expecting that response and said.

"Alright, Kratos, that is understandable given your culture, and do not worry about your family, as they shall remain out of your pantheon's reach."

Emilio then tosses a token in the form of a coin and explains to Kratos that if he wishes to return, he only needs to hold the token and will himself to this dimension.

Emilio then opens a portal to wear Kratos would have ended up in the underworld but past the river that would have sapped him of most of his abilities.

While also explaining to Kratos that he should never trust Gaia or any of the Titans to hold to their bargains, and if he ever requires assistance, he needs only call upon libertas.

But before Kratos enters the portal to begin his vendetta against the gods, Emilio shouts after him, saying, " By the way, once your quest is over, all your weapons are mine because you're not gonna be using 'em."

Kratos almost smiles at the difference between when the god first approached him to now, and he goes to the portal.

Emilio then turns to the wife and daughter and directs them to his mansion. The wife and daughter ask Emilio if they may share a room with Emilio, then says with a smile.

" Of course, you both have been through an arduous ordeal and deserve your rest, and once food has been prepared, I will ask my servants to retrieve you both, but if you do not wish to eat at the main table, you may eat in your room."

Lysandra and Calliope then thank Emilio for his generosity and close the door to their room with Emilio, then realizing something important he has no servants.

"Well, then I better get to making my staff." Emilio then focuses on creating the ideal servants for his realm. He establishes his servants based on the Einzbern homunculi from the Fate Universe.

But he gives them different looks rather than the simple white hair and red eyes, and to be honest, he could compare them to the maids and butlers from the Overlord anime.

His wife may wonder where the servants come from, and he will explain when she returns from her discussion. But for now, he has to focus on giving designations to the different maids and butlers.

Emilio then turns to the ones that would be the head maid and head butler " Both of you shall run the operations within the home and prepare food and drink for our guests while taking care of the property and managing my different cultivation rooms and ingredients."

The two then nod toward their creator, with Emilio continuing, saying, "You two shall be known as Sebas and Sakuya. Take these names with pride and serve me well."

Emilio then proceeds to name the other butlers and maids with names such as Cixous, Leysritt, Roberta, Michael, James, etc.

Then the servants spread throughout the house, with Emilio stopping the maid named Erina and asking her to prepare food for their guests within a few hours.

Emilio then leaves home and travels to one of the moons he has orbiting his planet. He is about to summon someone that he believes got shafted in Greek myth as he opens a portal.

And from the portal comes a beautiful woman, or at least she was once beautiful as now she has the tale of a snake and multiple vipers for hair, and as she looks around in confusion, she sees Emilio and tries to attack.

Medusa, the progenitor of all Gorgons, attempts to strike Emilio, with him only raising his hand and stopping her with his telekinesis and gravity manipulation abilities.

But as the snake woman shouts in defiance, "I will not be taken by another god! I will not be sullied again! I have already lost everything! What more can you take from me!"

The woman then tries to break free from Emilio's hold for over three hours, and as she finally exhausts herself, she stops, and Emilio releases his hold as she falls to the ground hopelessly.

Emilio then reaches down at places his hand upon the woman's head, but instead of feeling pain, the woman feels warm for the first time in a long time, and within a couple of seconds, a bright light shines from the woman.

Once the light fades, the once serpentine woman now looks entirely different, with Emilio then showing the woman's new look with a mirror as she has left flabbergasted.

(She Looks Like Avenger Gorgon But Without The Snakes)

"Why?" the woman asks in a confused tone. "Why help me? Why even do this? I have killed dozens if not hundreds of men that sought to slay me?"

Emilio then looks at the woman with a sympathetic gaze and says, " You were a loyal priestess of Athena, you were defiled, and you were left alone, by both your defiler and the one you worship."

As Medusa remembers that day, Emilio continues, "Your life was consumed by absolute loss and betrayal. No one deserves that, no one."

After finishing, the woman breaks out in tears, and as she cries, Emilio holds her close, and the woman smiles as she realizes her pain is over.
