Chapter 3: Bad news and good news
Here's something I should probably mention. Amara's whole family is in wheelchairs due to a medical condition that causes their legs to become permanently paralyzed. Their car is specially designed so they can drive. We drove to my house and I saw my siblings sitting on the porch steps. When I got out of the car (Amara and her parents followed) all my siblings ran up to me (excluding the ones who can't run they were carried) and started talking over each other so I couldn't understand a thing. Mary was standing in the back with Sam and whistled loudly. My siblings parted and Mary stepped to the front.
"May did Amara's parents tell you what happened?" she asked,
"they said mom was sick"
Mary glared at them "Mom's not sick she's been arrested!"
"What!? Why?"
"She's been robbing banks to pay for us but Amara's parents said they have a safe place for us to stay."
we all looked at Amara's parents who nodded slightly.
Amara's mom said, "Mary help me hook your car to mine then we will take you there."
Mary handed me Sam and went to help with the cars. Once they were finished we started off.
We drove for at least 30 minutes until reaching a forest. We got out of the car and started to hike through the forest for a little while until we reached a clearing.
Amara's parents turned to look at us and her mom asked "Do any of you know anything about Greek mythology?"
we all shook our heads no
"Well, then your lives are about to get weird."
She stood up out of her wheelchair and from her torso down she turned into a horse! Then Amara's dad stood up with the same result! Finally, Amara stood up and she too turned part horse!
"My best friend and her family are half-horse!" I yelled so loud I was pretty sure they could hear me in China.
"Yes," said Amara's dad very calmly "we are called centaurs, part man, part horse."
"We were told to escort you here," said Amara's mom then she yelled into the clearing "Carter! We brought them!"
A boy who appeared about my age walked up. He was cute. Too cute. I could feel myself blushing as he said "You must be the Mass siblings. I'm Carter and this is Camp Moon."
