Chapter 14: Past
After sitting in the carriage, Alex started staring at Nathan, he wanted to open the wooden box right now and see what was inside but decided against it.
He decided to open the box in his room alone.
"So, now that you're here, why don't we start your introduction?"
"Y-yes sir, My name is Nathan Hale and i hail from the stark territory of our kingdom. Since you asked me to follow you, do you know me or do you think I am special than others."
"Don't overestimate yourself peasant or should I say beggar, Neither do I know you nor do I think you are special, you are certainly different than those people in the slums, you still have determination and confidence in your eyes unlike them who have lost their purpose for living."
"And that's why I decided to give you an opportunity, as for what opportunity do you get depends on you."
"Since you called yourself special and hail from the opposite side of the kingdom, much much farther away from here, I guess you have a story, a past to tell, why don't you share your past with me."
"What if I don't want to share my past?" Nathan responded, clearly in a dissatisfied tone, he was already starting to regret his decision of following this boy.
"You don't have a choice, do you?" Alex responded as he glanced towards Sam who understanding the meaning behind Alex's words, held the handle of his sword, ready to unsheath in a moment's notice.
Although Nathan was a Class 3 knight himself, he had no chance against winning Sam who was a Class 4 knight and Nathan knew this.
"You can't force me, you said you would give me an opportunity not this." Nathan said while fuming with veins bulging on his entire body.
"Oh, I so can and don't worry, I will give you something to improve your life but what it is depends on what you will say next."
With no other choice, Nathan decided to speak but he was planning to lie his way through this conversation, he had no intention of divulging his past in front of a random stranger while getting blackmailed on the tip of the sword.
"Oh, and before you speak, sign this Mana contract, I don't want you to lie now,do I? Alex said as he took out a Mana contract from his bag.
"No, no, there isn't a need for that. I don't want to sign a Mana contract with a random stranger." Nathan said, by now he was sweating buckets since if things go on like this, then soon all his secrets and past will come out.
"Once again, you don't have a choice." Alex said as he wrote a few conditions on the Mana contract and handed it out to Nathan.
"Don't worry, as long as you honestly tell me about your past and life, I will let you leave, without directly or indirectly harming you. I have also added these conditions in the Mana contract so there's no need for you to worry." Alex spoke.
As Nathan heard that, he quickly read through the Mana contract to verify if Alex was lying or not and his face considerably relaxed after seeing that Alex was telling truth. As long as he tells him everything about his past and how he ended up here, he will be allowed to leave without any harm, whether now or in future.
After verifying Nathan took the Pen and signed the contract and then tore it in two pieces.
Soon the two pieces changed into magic particles and equally divided into two before entering the bodies of Alex and Nathan.
As soon as they confirmed the Mana contract inside their body and were certain that the Mana contract was in effect.
"Okay. now speak."
"I will but, I will only speak when we are alone, I signed a Mana contract with you not him." Nathan said as he pointed towards Sam.
"Sam, you guard the carriage from outside and tell the coachman to continue to circle around the town until I say so. Also, disable him and then tie his hands before going out." Alex said while facing Sam.
Alex had no intention of being alone in a carriage with a Class 3 knight without making sure he is safe.
No, no young master, it still isn't safe, I have a duty to protect you not leave you alone with a potential threat.
"Your duty is also to obey me, so do your duty and gaurd outside and don't worry Sam, I am not the same as before, don't forget that I am also a Class 1 knight now, I think I am more than enough to handle a disabled and tied Class 3 knight." Alex said domineeringly.
"Yes young master, if you say so. I will be just outside the Carraige if you need my help, If I feel something off or your call for help, I will quickly barge in." Sam said as he held out his hands to reach Nathan to disable him.
Surprisingly Nathan didn't try to stop him and allowed Sam to disable him.
After that Sam left the carriage and Nathan started speaking.
" As I already said, my name is Nathan Hale and my story goes on like this ....."
For the next hour or two, a certain Carraige was seen roaming and revolving around the city while Nathan continued to tell his story in detail to Alex who was listening attentively and even asking many questions about the secret agency and information gathering abilities of Nathan's organisation in detail.
After completing the story, Nathan stopped while they felt a change in the Mana contract inside their bodies. This change was the proof that Nathan kept his side of the deal and now it was time for Alex to do the same.
As soon as Nathan completed his story, he stood up from hu seat ready to leave the carriage as well this city as soon as possible.
"Where are you going, come sit down for a minute."
"You can't stop me, you signed a Mana contract that you will let me leave safely after I tell you everything." Nathan said clearly angry about being stopped before escaping.
"Don't worry, I have no intention to stop you or harm you, I just want to talk to you, after that you can leave. I said I am going to give you an opportunity and I always do what I promise, I said I would give you a chance and I am going to do it now." Alex smirked as he looked towards Nathan.
