Chapter 2: 2. The Family

After a while, I fully grasped the situation at hand.

The conversation between Maria Gothenburg and Katalina unfolded like a well-choreographed dance, with emotions flowing freely between them.

As the second child of Katalina De Silponcia and Karune Silverio, I learned about their 6-year-old daughter, Ruby, through bits of conversation that focused mainly on me and how I would impact their lives as the first son, making me a priority in their thoughts.

Katalina's gentle touch caressing my hair brought a comforting sensation, and she whispered with confidence, "You're going to be a good boy," her captivating crimson red eyes filled with warmth and pride as she smiled.

Observing Katalina's husband, Karune, I couldn't help but think how lucky he was. He burst into the room with a resounding BANG as the door hit the wall. His presence demanded attention, and I immediately recognized him as my father in this world. He stood tall, dwarfing Maria with his 6'9" stature, clad in rugged leather armor that seemed to add to his imposing aura.

Approaching us with an undeniable excitement in his eyes, Karune asked, "May I hold him?" His joy mirrored that of a child receiving their favorite toy for the first time, and I couldn't help but see a glimpse of my own eagerness when I first held a basketball in my hands.

Katalina gently handed me over to Karune, and in that moment, I could feel the strong bond that connected our family. His large hands cradled me with utmost care, and I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging, knowing that I was cherished and loved by my parents. Or so I actually felt rough ass arms.

"Careful, please don't accidentally drop me," I urged, not wanting to develop any unnecessary disabilities due to a fall. But always comes out as an "Ahhh",

"Kāru De Silponcia," Karune whispered softly, revealing the name they had chosen for me.

Katalina's eyes widened, and she responded, "So that's what we're naming him?" Her voice filled with curiosity and excitement.

Did she really hear what Karune said? His words were almost a silent whisper, yet she seemed to catch every syllable.

"Come on now, don't amaze me with your abilities, Katalina," Karune chuckled, acknowledging her perceptiveness. "Kāru is the perfect combination of both our names - Katalina and Rune. Just like my name is a blend of my parents' names."

Katalina playfully pouted, "It's basically your name without the 'Ne' in it!"

Her adorable expression melted my heart, and I couldn't help but think she was cuter than most anime girls.

"The 'Ā' makes all the difference. Believe it or not, in my culture, it's considered taboo to name someone solely after the father," Karune explained, his voice carrying a mix of pride and cultural significance.

As Karune delved into a lengthy explanation of our family's unique customs and traditions, I found myself struggling to stay fully engaged. After all, my body was that of a child, and the intricacies of grown-up conversations sometimes eluded my young mind. I could feel my eyelids growing heavy as the weight of drowsiness washed over me.

Realizing that my childlike consciousness was succumbing to slumber, I decided to surrender to the gentle embrace of sleep. I closed my eyes, feeling the world around me slowly fade away as my consciousness drifted into the realm of dreams.
