Chapter 9: Abyss of Memories
"Who said that?" shouted Raunos.
"Oh hey there, we meet again, wow you've got a way with women, we just met in the morning yet you've got another beauty by your side," said the pervert.
"So it's you again, the pervert from the hotel, what business do you have here?" asked Nox.
"Pervert!! Don't slander people around, And what could be my business here other than shopping? I'm interested in that rock, it looks pleasing to the eye unlike some people hahaha, and I'll be taking it for 5k taels!" said the pervert.
"How can you pay such a price for just a rock, don't bully people too much!" said Aurora.
"Oh, so how about you come with this daddy, and I'll give you the rock for free then, besides this is a marketplace and goods go to the highest bidder haha," said the pervert.
"This is not an auction, and we already bought this rock, besides you don't seem to need it, your head looks the part," said Raunos, mocking the pervert's head resembling the rock.
"Guys please don't fight over it, may the highest bidder get what he wants," said the merchant.
"You..!!" shouted Aurora, lost for words to describe their shamelessness.
"Then I'll pay 5001 taels," said Nox
(Hooked, hehe) thought the pervert. "I offer 8000!" he said.
"8001 !!" said Nox.
"Are you that poor, to raise the bid by only one tael hehe, then I offer 10'000!!" said the pervert, that amount is not simple, especially for a useless product, and it made every passerby shocked.
"You motherf..." cursed Raunos, but Aurora holds him back.
"Raunos don't be reckless in this city, let's just leave," said Aurora, but Nox has a different plan.
"10.001 !" said Nox.
"What?" said the pervert, shocked that Nox is still bidding.
"Dare to raise the price again?" said Nox, trying to tease the pervert.
( Is he stupid or is this rock no ordinary one? But if I buy it at such a price, I wouldn't explain it to Boss) thought the pervert, "Alright then I don't want it, but this is far from over, you'll regret messing with people out of your league!" he said, then leaves while stomping.
Nox then talks to the merchant, to resume the deal.
"So mister merchant, we agreed on 2500 right?" said Nox as he smirks.
"What?? No, it's definitely 10.001 !" said the merchant.
"Well you see I just happen to know someone, if she knew you're swindling people for such ridiculous prices, you might even lose your head!" said Nox with a scary face.
(She?) thought Aurora.
"Alright then 2500 take it and leave already," said the merchant.
"It's nice doing business with you," said Nox Ironically.
" I still think it's a loss to get it for 2500 taels," said Raunos.
"I just felt like I have to get this item no matter what," said Nox.
"You sure don't like to take a loss though," said Aurora.
"He probably works for that Damian guy," said Raunos.
"He's despicable, and he will be in present at the auction 3 days from now, so you need to be more careful, I'll fend him off as much as possible," said Aurora.
" Thanks for your concern Aurora," said Nox.
"It's my responsibility since this happened because of me, now let me show you where the auction house is, and let's meet there after 3 days," said Aurora.
"Lead the way, Miss Aurora," said Raunos.
Aurora takes them to see where the Auction house is, and then they part ways, it's finally time to return to the suite and try those comfy royal beds, but Nox couldn't wait for the morning to discover the rock he bought, he's inspecting it at his room.
"Now let's see what's so special about this stone," said Nox, he breaks it, and a sees that there was a Red Crystal inside of it.
"Whoah, with this, it's at least worth 5000 taels, I heard that this kind of crystal can be absorbed to enhance spiritual energy. But how do I absorb it? I'll just ask Raunos" said Nox, He goes to Raunos to ask about the crystal, and he learns that he got lucky, as to how to absorb the crystal, he simply needs to crush it with his hand.
Nox gets back to his room, excited about the crimson-red crystal, he holds it tight trying to crush it, (It's so sturdy, how can I crush it?) thought Nox, he tries to crush it with both hands but gets cut by the sharp edge of the crystal.
"Ouch!! It got a sharp edge, didn't notice it," said Nox, the crystal starts resonating, it glows on and off as if it's alive with its heart pulsing, Nox feels dizzy, and he faints before he knew it...
One year ago, right before the dragon attacked Blackwater City, inside an old house, lived Nox, he was laying in his bed when a blurry figure of a woman approaches Nox, he can't see her face...
"Darling, are you having another nightmare?" said a gentle female voice.
"Yes, it happens a lot lately," replied Nox.
"What did you see this time?" she asked.
"I don't remember at all," he replied.
"Try to remember darling, before we got married you told me that you don't remember your past, and now you keep having those nightmares, they're so frequent lately," she said.
"I still don't remember anything about my past, but my past doesn't matter as long as I live in this present where I have you," said Nox.
"I'm so happy to be with you as well, but I'm concerned about your health, I have a hunch that those nightmares are memories of your past, if you don't even remember what the nightmare was, you won't be able to remember your past," she said while caressing his head.
"Are you saying that, if I remember the nightmares, it means that I'll remember my past?" asked Nox.
"It's just a hunch, but probably it's your memories that try to get back to you through those dreams, no matter how buried or blurred they are, someday you'll remember everything, and I'll be by your side when that happens,"
"If they were my memories, then they should be terrible since they're all just nightmares, but I'll try to remember what I dreamed," said Nox, he meditates to remember what he saw, but suddenly he falls to the ground in pain.
"Aaaaaaaagh!!!" shouted Nox.
"What happened dear?? Are you hurt somewhere?" she asked.
"My head, it's my head, it's gonna explode aaagh!!! I'm in so much pain!!" he shouted, the two can hear a commotion happening on a big scale outside the house, people crying, and the ground shaking, but nothing mattered to Nox and the girl with him else than the pain in his head, she hopelessly tries to help Nox.
"Please bear with it dear, everything is gonna be alright!" she said.
"Aaaagh my eyes are burning, what's happening to my eyes!!" Nox shouted, he falls into an abyss of nightmares, everything is black, and he can't even see his hands.
His eyes feel like burning, and then a thread of light enters his right eye, Nox hears his name being called multiple times, but he's powerless to answer the call, "NOOOOX!!".
(Who's calling me) he thought.
