Chapter 16: Welcome to the Oni
"So will you come to me or should I start the attack?" asked Nox.
"You're just as my lil bro told me, an eyesore, I'm gonna put an end to your miserable life,"
"Your lil bro? Is it one of those that went bankrupt because of me?" Nox said.
"Haha, you're a funny guy, since you made me laugh, I'll let you rest in peace faster", said Blackthorn. He then dashes towards Nox and swings his axe at him causing a huge explosion, despite his huge body, he's agile.
"The poor thing didn't have a chance, he just stood there to receive the attack," said the crowd, the fog dissipates, and the axe appears to have hit the ground before Nox's feet, Blackthorn is fast for a guy his size, but he can't land a hit easily on Nox who can predict anything.
"You completely missed, are you sure you can wield that weapon?" asked Nox.
"I'll make sure to tear you to shreds!!" shouted Blackthorn, Nox takes out his dagger 'BloodThirst', and dashes forward at a high speed, Blackthorn raises his shield, and Nox proceeds with the attack, it was too strong it pushed his opponent's shield, making Blackthorn's defence open.
( 7000 points in attack, this dagger sure is worth its price) thought Nox, then tries to cut his opponent's throat, Blackthorn dodged but gets a little cut on his neck.
(This bastard is stronger than what they told me) thought Blackthorn.
(Now's the time to see the skills of this dagger, since I made a cut on his neck) thought Nox, the passive skill "𝓑𝓵𝓸𝓸𝓭 𝓢𝓾𝓬𝓴" activates, the dagger sucked the blood that was on it, but Nox can't use the skill 'blood whip' since the blood isn't enough.
(This much blood is only enough to form a thread, it can't form a whole whip, I've got an idea!!) thought Nox, using his right eye's ability, he examines every angle of the 'blood whip' skill, creating a small thread to make it as sharp as a blade.
"What are you thinking while we fight!!" shouted Blackthorn, he swings his axe at Nox, and Nox dodges and tries to go for his opponent's neck, Blackthorn realizes his plan, and he completely dodged the strike...
"Now's the time!!" shouted Nox.
Nox is activating a skill "𝕭𝖑𝖔𝖔𝖉 𝕿𝖍𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖉"! A thin bloody thread gets out from the dagger, to close up the short distance between it and Blackthorn's neck, In a scene that shocked everyone present, the blood thread pierced the flesh and bones, and Blackthorn's head was seen cut clean from his body.
Senior Blackthorn's head was sent flying and falls near the instructor's feet.
(How did he do it!! I was sure his opponent Dodged the attack completely, how did he still cut his head!!) thought Lucia.
"How could this happen, the newcomer is too terrifying!" said the crowd, they didn't expect senior Blackthorn to die, and only in 2 moves.
"What have you done!! Do you have any idea who you just killed?" shouted the instructor.
"You said it yourself, death is a casual thing in this kind of event," replied Nox with a sinister smile.
"You were supposed to hold on for only 10 minutes and you win, but now you're disqualified for killing a Senior!!" shouted the Instructor.
"And who are you to decide that?" said a female voice.
"Who dares interfere in my decision?!" shouted the Instructor.
"Look, it's the vice City Lord, the Archmage General Amara Fireheart !!" said the crowd.
"RedRobed!!" said Nox, he didn't expect her to be such a big shot.
(So RedRobed's name is Amara Fireheart, and she was the vice city lord? This explains why she was undercover) thought Raunos.
"Miss Amara, I'm honoured with your presence, you see this devil takes advantage of senior Blackthorn's kindness, and returns favour with evil, he killed him without a second thought, we must not allow such a vile act to go unpunished," said the Instructor.
"He died because he underestimated his opponent, and deaths are casual when people are fighting with their lives on the line, but you said that killing him is worth punishment? How come I never heard about such a rule?" said Amara.
"But miss Amara, you know Master Blackthorn is the adopted son of Master Eldric, if he hears of this..." said the Instructor.
"SILENCE!!" shouted Amara, she releases her aura, and the whole training ground becomes hot almost to an unsupportable degree, Amara is above the level of regular Mages, she is an Archmage that uses the element of fire.
"To think she has such a strong fire aura, she's so much stronger than I thought," said Nox, his eyes are wide, finding it hard to believe that the gentle RedRobed had such a terrifying side.
"If she doesn't stop, she's gonna melt everyone here," said Raunos, Amara stopped exerting her aura, and everyone sighed in relief.
"You're no longer needed as an instructor, you may leave now!" said Amara.
"Yes Miss Amara" he replied with his face full of regrets.
"I congratulate the 5 winners of this test, this is only the start of your journey, from this day onwards, you are part of Waterfall City's special forces, Welcome to the Oni!" Amara said, then her assistant brought badges of the Oni, to let the Vice City Lord hand them to the five winners.
"The 5 winners, come forward when you hear your name, to receive your Oni badges!" said the assistant.
"Lucia Alina, the Oni swordswoman, please step forward," then Amara hands her the Oni badge.
"May your future achievements bring glory to Waterfall City," said Amara.
"Thank you, Miss Amara," said Lucia, ( To think a woman with such strength would be on that pirate ship as a hostage, was it all a play?) thought Lucia.
"Aetos Theron, the Oni archer!" said the assistant, Aetos shows herself, she's a female Elf archer from the hunter branch.
"She's an Elf!!" said Nox.
"So you like Elves?" Raunos asked.
"Shut up!" Nox replied.
"Here's your badge Aetos, may your arrow never miss our enemy's hearts," said Amara.
"Thank you, Miss Amara," said Aetos
"Valerius Thunderstrike, the Oni knight," said the assistant.
"This is the one who was chosen on the cavalry team.
"He looks strong!" said Nox.
"The idea of gathering only one from each class helps with choosing only the strongest among them," said Raunos.
"Valerius, the Thunderstrike family is widely known for their chivalrous acts as well as their powerful strikes, I'm looking forward to seeing your glorious days at Waterfall City," said Amara.
"Thank you, Miss Amara, it's my pleasure," said Valerius.
"Ke Raunos, the Oni tank," said the assistant.
"Raunos, your performance was an eye-opener, I wish you the best of luck," said Amara, wishing him luck knowing how much he complains about bad luck, but poor Raunos can't act on her now.
"Thanks, Miss Amara," said Raunos.
(Hahaha, that poor thing can't fool around anymore) thought Nox.
"Nox, the Oni assassin," said the assistant.
"Nox, your performance today is an amazing feat, worthy of being the only survivor of BlackWater," said Amara.
"What?? So he's that warrior who survived BlackWater's incident? No wonder he's so strong," the crowd said.
"That's embarrassing, I merely survived by pure luck," said Nox.
"This is only the beginning of your journey, I'm looking forward to seeing you bring victory to Waterfall City," said Amara.
"I will do my best," he replied, a figure standing at a distance, has been watching the whole thing, he then takes his leave.
"The five of you are now part of the Oni, you'll be starting your training tomorrow, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours," said Amara, and left with her assistant.
"Excuse me," said a female voice, approaching Nox and Raunos.
"Yes Miss Theron," said Nox, greeting the Elf Archer.
"No need for formalities, just call me Aetos," she said.
"Nice to meet you Aetos," said Nox and Raunos.
"Nice to meet you too, I was wondering if we could get along since we're all new Oni's," said Aetos, and another person comes to join the gathering.
"I was thinking the same thing," said Valerius.
"I guess it doesn't have to be this way," said Raunos.
"I know that individual strength is important, but we're stepping into a ground that isn't familiar to us yet, people might already be forming new allies," said Valerius.
"Exactly, so we'd rather make friends now, so we can look after each other," said Aetos.
"I guess it doesn't hurt having allies," said Nox.
"Whatever you guys want," replied Raunos, then Lucia completely ignores the group and went on her own.
"Is she angry with us?" asked Aetos.
"Nah she's just short-tempered," replied Nox.
"Then we'll meet up again tomorrow," Valerius said, they bid farewell with him.
"Did you guys settle down at the dorms?" asked Aetos.
"We still haven't," Answered Nox.
"Then allow me to lead you there," said Aetos.
"Sure, lead the way," said Nox.
