Chapter 17: First day being an Oni
Aetos took Nox and Raunos to show them the dorms, and they passed by a restaurant.
"Before going to the dorms let's go eat something first," said Nox.
"I want to go gather pieces of information about the Oni," said Raunos.
"Do you know where to ask?" asked Nox.
"Yeah, I have an idea," replied Raunos.
"Then Aetos and I will go ask at the restaurant," said Nox.
"Alright then, have fun guys!" said Raunos, and then he took a different way.
"Let's go check that restaurant, they serve good tea," said Aetos, Raunos' ears heard the word 'Tea' from a mile away.
At the restaurant sat Nox, Aetos, and Raunos who changed his mind and joined them unexpectedly.
"So what happened to 'gathering informations'? Raunos," said Nox while giggling.
"On second thought, it's a good time to relax a bit, since tomorrow might be a rough day," replied Raunos.
"You just want the tea, don't you?" said Nox while laughing, teasing Raunos' love for tea.
"Shut up!" replied Raunos, annoyed that he was too easy to read.
"Haha, how straightforward," said Aetos while giggling
"You'll get used to him haha," replied Nox.
"Raunos, if you're interested in tea, I advise you to try Moroccan tea, it's the best I tasted so far, and it just happened that they serve it here," said Aetos.
"Then I'll take your word for it," said Raunos.
The waiter brings the food, seafood for Nox, a salad and lemon juice for Aetos, and roasted beef with a kettle of Moroccan tea for Raunos, Raunos tastes the tea after one bite of the beef.
"This tea is indeed unique, I love the aroma, it tastes like the perfect drink to combine with roasted beef," said Raunos while his eyes are sparkling.
"Aetos, I was wondering what is an Elf like you doing in Waterfall City," asked Nox.
(Good question Nox) thought Raunos.
"It's a long story, I'm originally from Holy Angel City," said Aetos.
"You mean the City 3rd on the ranking??" asked Raunos.
"Yes, I was sent to reinforce Waterfall City's power, by joining the Oni," said Aetos.
"Why would the City ranked third, be willing to help the City ranked seventh?" asked Raunos.
"It's a matter of an alliance, as you know there are over 300 cities in our 'Eldoria kingdom' among them, 80 could be considered strong cities, but a city can't do much alone, that's why alliances exist, Waterfall City alongside 2 more of The Big Seven are the leaders of "New Dawn Alliance", meanwhile Holy Angel City is the president of the alliance," said Aetos.
"The Big Seven?" asked Nox, feeling unfamiliar with all those basic informations due to his memory loss.
"Among the 80 strong cities, there are 7 who are especially mighty, they're called the big seven, they are ranked based on their power, from the highest to the lowest: FangRoar, Ryūshiro, Arachne, Holy Angel, Aerion, Aurelia, and Waterfall City," said Raunos.
"I see, with all its power Waterfall City is only ranked last among the seven, I wonder how strong is the City ranked first," said Nox.
"It's 'FangRoar City', as I told you about Holy Angel City is the president of 'New Dawn Alliance', on the other hand, FangRoar City is the president of 'Tridrakon Alliance' which has 45 members," said Aetos.
FangRoar City is currently the strongest city in the kingdom after BlackWater City fell, it's the 1st on the Big Seven ranking, and the name 'FangRoar' presents the towering cliffs of the City that resemble a Tiger's mouth, the city is known for its tamed tigers and for its great power, previously, BlackWater City was the one ranked one, but now the power balance has been broken between the two alliances 'New Dawn' and 'Tridrakon'.
"The situation doesn't seem good," said Raunos.
"Before BlackWater City fell, it was the president of 'New Dawn Alliance' and it was the strongest in the kingdom, now that it's gone, 'Tridrakon Alliance has become overpowered, even 'King Doria' who kept all City's in check is now bedridden, if a war breaks out, no one knows what would happen," said Aetos.
"Is the situation that bad?" asked Raunos while sipping his tea.
"I don't know much except that all cities are gathering their forces and strengthening their defences, I just feel bad for Blackwater City," said Aetos, and looks at Nox.
"Let's not talk about that now," said Raunos.
( Raunos wants to change the topic for my sake) thought Nox.
"Yeah! sure, so how was the food?" asked Aetos.
"The food was great!"
"Of course it is, this restaurant is owned by my family, we're hunters so it's a good opportunity to sell what we hunt," said Aetos.
"I enjoyed the tea, thank you Aetos," said Raunos.
"No, thank you for letting me join you," replied Aetos.
"It's our pleasure," said Nox.
The two got back to the dorms after leaving Aetos at the restaurant.
"This place is no different than the suite we were in," said Nox.
"The Oni get all the good stuff," replied Raunos.
"Good for us," said Nox, and went to lay on the couch.
"I'll go train a little more," said Raunos.
"Are you a training machine?" said Nox.
"Otherwise how can I keep up with you freak?!" said Raunos.
"Haha, good luck then," said Nox.
"And Nox... That Elf is constantly approaching you, you must be careful," said Raunos.
"Thanks for always having my back, I'm sure it has something to do with BlackWater's Calamity," said Nox.
"Anyway, you must stay on alert," said Raunos.
"Relax man, nothing's gonna happen," said Nox.
"I'm off to my training now," said Raunos, and goes to the Gym.
The next day, the newly recruited Oni join the old members at the training ground to receive today's lesson, it's the first lesson for Nox and Raunos as well as the remaining three, everyone is talking and murmuring.
Suddenly a pressuring aura filled the training ground, immediately posing superiority, and then a figure shows up, he was a white-bearded man, 1,90 meters tall, and he walks in front of the 20 Oni, all of them formed 4 rows and awaited the man's commands.
Even the old Oni couldn't get used to his overwhelming appearance, so the new ones were amazed by his amazing Aura.
Godfrey is a name that signifies God's peace, or protection, He's the second General that Nox and Raunos met after Amara, he's the Tank General, 'A Rank'.
"Silence everyone!! Welcome to the training ground new and old Oni, I am General Godfrey, I'm responsible for leading infantry units on the battlefield, and I am your training instructor," said Godfrey, he's holding a longsword and a shield on his back.
"What's the training today Sir?" asked an Oni.
"Today's training is simple, all of you come fight me!" replied Godfrey.
"Are you sure about that, there are 20 of us," said Lucia, everyone started laughing at her words except for a few people.
"It would be even better if you all come at me at once, take 10 minutes to prepare!" said Godfrey, then the 20 Oni formed groups to discuss battle strategies.
"Raunos, Aetos, Valerius & Lucia, do you guys trust me?" asked Nox.
"Do you have a plan?" asked Raunos.
"I do, if we attack blindly, we won't have any effect on him, he's very strong and his Aura seems flawless, so we need to organise ourselves," said Nox.
"Why would I Lucia listen to you? We worked together once, but it doesn't mean I'm under your command," said Lucia.
"Then can we work together once more? Or do you want to team up with those old members who look down on us?" asked Nox.
"I agree on you leading us for this fight, Nox," said Aetos.
"I don't mind it as well," said Valerius.
"You already know my answer," said Raunos.
"Hii there!" said a female voice.
"Oh good to see you here Aurora," said Nox.
"I saw that you formed a party, can I join you guys?" asked Aurora.
"I don't mind that at all," said Nox, Aetos pinched Nox's hand in hesitation.
She looks at him acting cute, trying to say something.
