Chapter 47: Kite

Upon hearing Sun Ting's voice, Kang Shuwei instinctively turned around.

However, before he could even look at Sun Ting, his attention was drawn to the surveillance screens.

Several members of the security department, dressed in blue uniforms, appeared on the monitor's display.

And in their hands... they held a kite that still looked quite new.

"How... did this kite..." Kang Shuwei widened his eyes and froze in place.

"Li Xuan hung up this kite!"

He had heard from the officer's report that Lin Yi had flown kites with the students on the playground at eight o'clock!

This was part of his plan!!!

He immediately took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Director Song! Implement lockdown at the train station!"

"It's highly likely that Li Xuan is near the train station!"

"It takes about an hour from the school to the station. He was last seen at the school at 9:30. He should be at the train station by now!"

After finishing the call, he immediately turned to Sun Ting and said, "Gather everyone, we're heading to the train station!"

Sun Ting was momentarily slow to react. She was still in shock!

Li Xuan had actually calculated this far!?

When did he start preparing for this!?

Kang Shuwei, along with his task force, rushed out from the school to the train station at 10:15.

There were six people in the van. Tao Xiaoyi wasn't in the van because he had gone to the airport with the bus.

Kang Shuwei's brows furrowed together. His expression was extremely tense, and his heart raced incessantly.

"How did he plan so much!?"

"A kite... Could he have known that we were coming to inspect today!?"

"Damn it!"

"What the hell is going on!?"

The van weaved through traffic at a high speed, heading west from the Aerospace University.

Forty minutes earlier, at 9:30 on September 20th.

At this time, Jinling Aerospace University was enveloped in an odd atmosphere.

Students walked the streets, their voices silenced significantly as they glanced at the middle-aged people at the street corners, who seemed out of place.

They whispered among themselves about what might have happened at the school. However, their discussions were limited and couldn't yield accurate answers.

This transformed the once vibrant campus into something akin to a prison...

But the culprit behind all this was currently squeezing through the railings' gaps, raising his arm naturally to hail a taxi.

After stating his destination, the driver began chatting with Li Xuan.

"Student, what's happening at your school?"

"Why does it suddenly feel like something's gone wrong?"

"I saw this morning that a lot of police were parked at the gate..."

Li Xuan smiled and replied, "I don't know either. But our class's WeChat group is going crazy."

The driver nodded, thinking that it was normal for students not to know what was happening.

However, he kept talking on and on, saying, "The world these days is really not peaceful. Just about a month ago, they claimed to have cracked some thief gang, and it was all over the internet..."

"I think, to maintain order, they really need to strengthen security..."

Li Xuan, however, had his attention elsewhere. He continued to respond absentmindedly while pondering his current situation.

There was no extra emotion on Li Xuan's face, and there was even a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth.

"This time, the people who came are a bit different."

"It seems that the two months of preparation haven't been wasted."

"Although not stupid... still lacking a bit."

Li Xuan might not know the current state of affairs in the school, but he didn't seem to care about what intelligence Kang Shuwei had gathered, judging by his appearance.

Pulling out his phone, he checked the time.

9:40.

Seeing the time, he finally interrupted the taxi driver, "Could you please speed up?"

"We can take the expressway if it's faster. I'm in a bit of a hurry."

The taxi driver nodded confidently and said, "Don't worry, young man."

"Before 10:30, I'll make sure to get you there."

Li Xuan nodded, recalling everything he had done since September 1st. A faint smile appeared on his lips.

The kite... the one hung on a tree because Lin Yi was "clumsy."

Of course, he wasn't actually clumsy.

On the contrary, it required great skill.

His nightly jogging for the past eighteen days was not just for physical fitness.

Aside from confirming the locations of every camera, he had also gathered special information that the school's higher-ups were unaware of.

For instance, which cafeteria served the tastiest food, which vendor at the windows didn't shake the food too much...

And... how students could leave the school after it closed for the night—the gap in the fence on the perimeter of the playground.

Though Li Xuan currently didn't know who was leading his pursuit, he had already assessed their strength based on their reactions and judgments.

This was crucial, especially for Li Xuan. To hide beneath the operation of such a powerful machine, he needed to know himself and the opponent.

The taxi accelerated, entering the elevated highway.

Though it took a slightly longer route, it significantly improved the speed.

The destination was about an hour's drive away.

Meanwhile, Kang Shuwei was still in the principal's office, coordinating with the rest of the task force to understand Li Xuan's plan.

It was 10:10 when Kang Shuwei, by a stroke of luck, realized that Li Xuan had already left the school.

At 10:15, their business van surged out from the school, heading directly for the train station.

Inside the van, Kang Shuwei's mind was a mess.

Even though they had authenticated evidence of Li Xuan's whereabouts, he couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling.

10:30...

10:40...

As time ticked away, Kang Shuwei's mind was flooded with questions.

The "Schrödinger's Li Xuan" was still bothering him.

Even though he had listed nearly every possibility through a simple method, he was still unable to escape this conundrum.

Moreover, this doubt was bringing about more questions.

How was Li Xuan planning to escape by train? Would he use a temporary ID?

No... if Li Xuan had left the school between 9:40 and 9:50, he should have reached the train station by now and started arranging a temporary ID.

But since no such evidence had been found, it indicated that he hadn't used his previous method.

If he wasn't using that method, then how was he planning to escape?
