Chapter 23: Report

The main building is flanked by two large buildings on each side, connected by a passage, creating a circular distribution of the three buildings that is both fragmented and interconnected.

Within the main Triskelion SHIELD building, not all occupants are agents; there are also ordinary individuals and a significant proportion of staff. They go doing their tasks much like white-collar workers in any large corporation, each busy with their own affairs.

Upon entering the Headquarters building, Daisy immediately sensed several pairs of eyes focused on her. She removed her sunglasses – a necessity outside, but unnecessary here. She realised she would be a regular visitor here for the coming years; walking around with sunglasses on all the time would be quite unconventional.

Entering S.H.I.E.L.D also meant entering Hydra's view. Daisy had anticipated this.

Unless she intended to remain an ordinary person for her entire life, she was bound to attract attention. Rather than hastily dealing with it when the time came, she decided to address it proactively.

The surrounding staff continued their work as if they hadn't noticed her.

Daisy knew that the test had already begun. To learn the knowledge she sought, she had to prove herself as an elite. Otherwise, she wouldn't deserve access to the excellent faculty, professional training, and rigorous education here.

In another timeline, weren't the students from prestigious institutions the cream of the crop? Ordinary knowledge was taught to ordinary people, while elite knowledge was reserved for elites. Daisy could accept this outcome.

She found a chair and calmly took a seat.

In the original timeline, she had been able to remotely infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D's systems. Now, she was within S.H.I.E.L.D's premises herself. If she didn't achieve something, it would be hard to justify her presence here.

Quickly hacking into the network, she searched for information and found her destination within a minute.

"Child's play," she scoffed softly, then turned into an elevator on the side, riding up to the tenth floor before proceeding along a corridor to the left.

After walking nearly 800 meters, another slightly shorter building came into view.

The relaxed atmosphere here put Daisy at ease. People of various ethnicities mingled – some appearing sharp-eyed like potential agents, while others seemed lost in their own worlds like bookworms.

At this point, she didn't need to pass any tests. Daisy presented her credentials to the staff, they checked her identity, and handed her a room key.

Her room was on the third floor. She took a look – the first two floors were for men, while the third was designated for women.

From the fourth floor onwards, there were classrooms, labs, recreational areas, and training facilities, all located underground.

"3106." This was her room number. She found her room and pushed the door open.

She pushed the door open and walked in.

The structure of the two-bedroom unit is well-equipped, with a bathroom and a shower room. The accommodations seem decent.

She placed her backpack down and immediately rushed into the bathroom. She wanted to check if there were any surveillance cameras or bugs here.

Although she lacked specialised agent knowledge, she possessed extraordinary abilities. With different frequencies of vibration between electronic devices and everyday items, she could discern them with careful attention.

She searched the bathroom twice, sensing every inch of the floor and walls in the bathroom and bedroom.

The results were satisfactory – there were no tampering by official SHIELD personnel.

She turned on the room's air conditioning, took off her outer clothing, and realised that using her abilities for an extended period had made her hungry.

She touched her abdomen, where a faint hint of muscle definition could be seen. Her previous self hadn't exercised much, and she had even had a bit of a belly before. Now, achieving this well-toned physique took 30% of effort and 70% of hunger.

There was a set of combat attire on the bed – a navy blue top and pants, a black belt, two women's sports tank tops, socks, and combat boots.

The fabric of the clothes was lightweight and durable, reportedly even offering infrared camouflage capabilities.

Daisy found it somewhat amusing. Who would have thought that after going full circle, she seemed to be back in her military training days?

Picking up a sports tank top, she found the texture comfortable and devoid of any odours. However, she decided not to change since it would be uncomfortable to wear it for a long time.

She changed into the combat top and pants, put on the combat boots, and felt an urgent need to go for a hearty meal!

As she pushed her door open, she saw the door of the room opposite to hers open at the same time.

"Hi." A blonde girl greeted her. She was about Daisy's height and seemed friendly.

"Hey." Daisy waved back. Judging from the girl's appearance, she seemed to have arrived earlier. Daisy extended her right hand for a handshake and introduced herself, "Daisy Johnson."

The blonde girl also shook her hand. "Sharon Carter."

Daisy was a bit surprised by the last name. The Carter family was quite famous – the love story between Peggy Carter and Captain America was well-known here. Curious, she asked, "Carter? Are you related to Ms. Peggy Carter?"

The blonde girl laughed heartily. "Just a coincidence."

Daisy nodded, understanding. In her mind, she sarcastically thought, "Yeah, right! You're fooling no one!" But this niece of Peggy Carter's seemed much younger – Peggy herself would be around ninety by now, and this niece couldn't be much older than Daisy.

The Carter family was interesting indeed. The aunt had fallen for Captain America, and now this niece was following in her footsteps, having a fling with the Captain as well.

As a descendant of the founder of SHIELD, Sharon Carter didn't fit the typical "second-generation" stereotype. She was outgoing, courteous, and knew how to handle herself – never appearing intrusive or suspicious.

"Daisy, are you new here? Have you registered for courses? I can show you around." Sharon was enthusiastic. Daisy felt a bit embarrassed to admit that she was famished and just wanted to go eat a hearty meal. She put on a forced smile and let herself be led to select her courses.

Walking along, observing other students around them, Daisy felt that this place wasn't much different from a regular university.

Sharon was well-acquainted with the place and described various courses for Daisy to consider.

"Sharon, which courses did you register for?" Daisy inquired.

The blonde girl stood confidently, hands on her hips, and puffed out her chest. "I registered for all of them. I suggest you do the same. No matter what profession you end up in, all these courses can be very useful."

Daisy largely agreed with that sentiment. If she weren't here to acquire knowledge, she could have been leading a carefree life in New York. She mentally sighed at the thought of the rigorous learning ahead.

As the staff displayed the full list of courses, even though Daisy had been through the bombardment of coursework in her past life, she still felt a headache seeing the extensive list.

The Academy had eight main disciplines: Field Operations, Science, Innovation, Espionage, Special Operations, Strategy, Combat, and Diplomacy.

There were overlaps between certain disciplines; for example, Espionage and Special Operations shared some common aspects. However, espionage focused on information gathering without exposing oneself, while special operations were measured by task completion.

Science and Innovation also had distinctions. Science involved theoretical research, while Innovation encompassed advanced weapon manufacturing.

Each discipline had various subcategories. For instance, all disciplines required language proficiency and basic combat skills. Some involved psychology studies, while others required learning subjects like high-polymer materials. Each discipline had its own emphasis – being a good agent wasn't just about combat skills.
