Chapter 9: Chapter Nine: The Hospital.

Alice panicked on her way to the hospital, she trembled so much that Theo had to offer to give her a ride to the hospital. She felt so sorry for her mom, at first she once blamed herself for what was going on cause had her mom not given birth to her this wouldn't be happening. She wished she died even before her mom gave birth to her. Alice didn't know what to do; she only cried all through their way to the hospital.

Theo felt so bad about what was happening, he knew that as tough as Alice looks that her mom was her greatest weakness and it made him so sad to know that Alice cries so much once something happens to her mom he wished he could wipe the tears in her eyes and make her feel better in one way or the other but it wasn't as easy as it seems that he knows for sure.

Theo drove into the hospital just as he was about to deviate to the parking lot. Alice asked him to stop her in front of the hospital so he could come along once he was done parking the car. Theo was worried that Alice might lose it if she entered her mom's ward alone but he just could not stop her cause before he could say a word she already threw the door open, so had no option left then to cease the car and let her out. Just as Alice exit into the hospital Theo rushed to park the car and ran after Alice into the hospital.

Alice got to the counter where there were two female nurses, she had to make them notice her as the two nurses looked so busy with whatever they were doing. One of them had to attend to Alice but that was not until Theo cut up with Alice.

"Which ward does Mrs. Jamie Greenhood resides in.?"Alice asked impatiently.

The nurse checked her system and responded to her. Alice ran through the aisle in search of her mom's ward, just as she found the ward, Alice first stood in front of the precinct, wiped her tears, and cleared her throat to be able to pretend well enough. All through this period, Theo was right beside Alice even without her notice. He only had to make sure that Alice was fine at the end.

"Mom.?" Alice called out as she finally entered the room.

"Alice.?" Jamie tried sitting up a bit but failed due to the pains lingering on her back.

"Mom, lay down, don't stress about it. How did this happen? What did they say you did this time around.?"Alice was so impatient she became angry immediately after she saw her mom's condition she was angry at herself and the cruel world.

"Alice dear, I will explain later.? You do not have to know what happened, but I will explain later."Jamie didn't want to let Alice know how badly she had been treated. She has been hiding things away from Alice since she came back from the States though Jamie knew it was high time she starts telling Alice about her sufferings yet she just couldn't imagine tears on Alice's face.

"No Mom it's better if you start talking, for crying out loud am no longer a kid Mom," Alice yelled almost at the edge of tears. Jamie is now left with no other option than to tell Alice the story behind this maltreatment.

"I…I have been working all day without a wink of sleep for some time now and it made me so weak and lazy, so I made a mistake last night in replacing a document with another which caused a bit of conflict today in the office so Mr. George asked me to leave early so I can rest at home at first I was a bit thankful for the mistake I made but I regretted it the very minutes I stepped my foot into the house."Jamie stopped to take a breath and then continued with her story.

"As soon as Mrs. George saw me, I didn't know she has already received a call on what had transpired at the office, so she called out to me and I came she then started using a mob stick on me she abused me like I was some piece of trash, she didn't stop until I fainted and found myself here in the hospital.". Jamie and Alice couldn't stop the tears that flowed from their eyes down their cheeks. Jamie didn't like the fact that Alice was crying alongside her so she quickly wiped her tears and gave Alice a reassuring hug that everything is going to be alright.

Shortly after the wiping moments, Alice got a hold of herself and so did her mom.

"Mom.? How do you feel right now.?" Alice asked Jamie for the third time since she entered the room.

"Am getting better dear, my back hurts a lot but I know I will be fine so don't worry about me ok.?"Jamie said this just to comfort Alice the more."Theodore come on in, how are you, my dear.?"Jamie looked up from Alice's face only to find Theo standing near the door so she spoke out to him.

"Am very fine Ma, and you.?" Theo asked with a gentle voice.

"Am fine my dear, sorry I didn't notice you all this while you guys entered." Jamie apologized because she truly didn't realize that Theo was standing right at the door watching the display that went on between her and her daughter.

"It's fine Mrs. Jamie, I mean it was nice watching the love and affection that flowed through you guys despite the hurting moments. Am so much happy at least to know that you are ok."Theo expressed his feelings toward everything that had been going on in the past minutes.

"I will be back, let me go get something for you guys to eat. Alice, what should I get for you.?"Theo looked for a way to excuse them for a bit.

"Am fine thank you, Theo, just get me coffee and some rice porridge for my mom" Alice said while handing over her purse to Theo.

"No it's ok, I have got my wallet on me I will be right back." Theo exited the room, walked down the aisle, and out of the hospital.

Alice forgot to tell Theo to get some toiletries that her mom will be making use of in her few days stay in the hospital so she got a hold of her bag which she had dropped to the floor when she first entered and took out her phone only to find twenty-two missed calls all from Valentino.

"What the f**k" Alice screamed with her eyes widely open.

"Alice what's wrong." Jamie was amused by how grown her daughter was to even say the F word.
