Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - Goblin Slaying

In front of me was a Goblin holding a crude stone knife. The goblin jumped toward me with a stone-tipped spear, and I greeted it with a kick to its left flank. The goblin basically flew away like a child getting kicked, making for a funny sight. I couldn't just stand there and laugh, though. Since my leg is in pain and I see nine more ahead holding different kinds of weapons like crudely made knives, wooden spears, and stones,

Meanwhile, I was guiding Jake to a safe place as Eliza and I found a hollowed-out tree stump.

"I need you to stay here, alright. Don't go anywhere unless one of us picks you up."

"But I can defend myself!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes"

"No, just sit down here and wait." I said that and ran toward Leo as fast as I could.

The battle was hard, mainly because, for one, I'm a weak 17-year-old who sits at home all day with my only strength being my endurance in running. How can I expect myself to fare against a few goblins with weapons while I only have sharp rocks? Well, it's not like their weapons are any better.

They are hideous to look at too, I don't want them to touch Eli at all.

"Howard, where the fuck are you?" I asked loudly but met with nothing but another attack from one of the goblins. The goblin jumped at me with a crude spear in hand, which I managed to hold on to and put in my inventory. The disarmed goblin was confused, and I took the opportunity to grab its head and slit its throat with the sharp rock I took from my inventory. Disgusting and filthy red blood stained my hands, which further annoys me.

The goblins weren't just waiting either, they were determined to kill me. 3 more were coming to attack head-on, and the 4 on the back were trying to throw rocks at me, which I put in my inventory the moments I felt the impacts and dodged ones that were aimed at my face.

I took a different rock from my inventory to throw back at one of the goblins, but it managed to dodge the rock and countered with a slash to my torso. Knowing that it was too late to dodge, I put my left arm forward, sacrificing it to protect my torso, leaving a big gash that started bleeding. The feeling of being slashed by a crude knife was worse than unpleasant, making me grunt in pain .

"Argh, fuck!"

Adrenaline was pumping in my veins, and with unfiltered hatred toward the filthy creature that just hurt me, I used my other hand to grab the arm the goblin used to slash me and kick it in the face with all the force I had. The goblin's head twisted unnaturally, and its body fell to the ground.

"Come on." I said, knowing I only had a bit of steam left in me, the fight was driving me to exhaustion, but I got backup, from me.

A goblin's death throes alerted the three in front of me, and they looked back to see another human, Eli.

While the goblin bunch was distracted by Leo, I used Eli to sneak behind those goblins, take their fallen comrades' weapons, and finish off the knocked-out goblin that Leo kicked away.

I took down three of the stone throwers by slitting their throats with the knife. There was struggle from the first two, which took a lot from me just to make them silent enough to not be noticed, but I didn't have that much strength left when I got to the third one, so it managed to scream and alert the ones that were attacking Leo.

Undeterred, I took down the last rock thrower by dashing toward it and stabbing it with a knife from the chin up with all the force I could exert through my hand and leaving it there, I then proceeded to lightly throw the knife I had, which the goblin dodged, and as it tried to counter me, I summoned the stone-tipped spear and stabbed it through the eyes.

With their backs turned on Leo to face the more dangerous Eli, I took the few seconds of grace to take the goblin's spear out of the inventory and pierced one of them from the back through its lower body. Despite being nothing more than a sharp stick, it did its job and pierced the goblin far enough to get stuck. I proceeded to kick the lodged spear to the side, which broke the stick into two halves and disabled the goblin. Holding a stone in my hand, I teleported it inside the head of the last goblin that was still standing, and Leo fell down, unable to move. In the middle of finishing off the final goblin, a blue screen popped up, bringing grave news.
