Meeting another member of Damon's family was another event she dreaded. After all, she had enough of their judgment, especially after her encounter with his mother.

It did not help that she was engaged to the younger Hawkins first, then married the older one. That was enough proof of what kind of woman she was in the public eye.

"You have a lovely and sweet son, Jules. You raise him well." The woman, in her early seventies, tapped her on the hand, commending her for a job well done.

But honestly, it was the last thing she expected when she agreed to go along on this trip. If she had a choice, she preferred to stay at the mansion. However, she could not disappoint her son.

"I try my best. But I feel like I can only do so much." Truthfully, Jules always feared that her effort would never be enough.
