Chapter 2: 1. Wake up, you bitch!

On the highest floor, in a high-rise building that stood in the centre of the most expensive and industrious part of the largest city in the world, sat a handsome man. Streaks of sunlight poured into the room from the west, casting an orange haze all over the beige walls. Staining his pale skin with some colour. His perfect face was sculpted with a focused expression as he stared at the screen in front of him. Only taking a break from his incessant typing to push up the heavy set glasses that sat on the bridge of his pointed, straight nose. A nose that proved precision and perfection could be achieved by genetics and not the end of a surgeon's knife. A sigh escaped his thin pink lips as he pushed backwards against his desk and rolled towards the centre of the room.

"Elisa, the status report," he said in a deep baritone. Folding his arms across his large brawny chest, the action caused his biceps to pop in the crisp blue button-up shirt he had on.

"The trade was successful. I have deposited a hundred million dollars into your account Xerxes Zhen."

Relief.

He shut his eyes, threw his head back, and let out a sigh. His luscious black hair hung down his head, flowing in tresses like water.

"What is my net worth as of the last minute?" He asked.

"You are worth over 218 billion dollars."

"And what is my new rank?"

"You are currently the fourth richest man in the world and the richest man in the country. Surpassing Marvis Zhen." The automated voice replied, and Xerxes nodded with a breathtaking and carefree grin on his usually stoic face.

Finally, he was now richer than his grandfather. No longer would that old man keep stepping on him just because he had money. After two years of hell, he was going to divorce that woman. Rapt knocking on the door interrupted his ecstasy.

"President Zhen?" his secretary announced as He slowly pushed open the door.

Xerxes looked up with a raised brow. "Yes?"

"Miss Xian has gone into labour."

His eyes widened. "Already?" He said, getting up. As he walked to his desk, he turned to look his secretary in the eyes. "Get the car ready."

"Yes Mother, I am already on my way to the hospital. Has she been sedated yet?" He asked.

"Were you not aware? She insisted on doing a c-section and honestly, I agree with her on this one. Do you think a woman who is ready to abandon her children at the drop of a hat would have the willpower to deliver twins as a natural birth?"

"Yes, I understand Mother, it is important to you, but just let it go this last time. She has signed the kids away. The only thing that is left for her is to sign the divorce papers and we will have her out of our lives," Xerxes stated. "Don't worry about grandfather, I have a way to convince him. Let's stop talking about this now. We should focus on the boys."

"Yes, Mother, you're about to become a grandmother, and I'll be a father." He said, a soft smile touching his thin pale pink lips.

Xerxes pulled out the EarPods from his ear and stepped on the accelerator, urging the sports car he was in to move even faster. He was filled with a mixture of relief, excitement and a small dose of the poison hatred he still had for his wife and the soon-to-be mother of his heirs. He knew he shouldn't, but wouldn't it be the best thing if she died in childbirth? That way, one horrible part of his life, the only decision he ever took that he regretted, would no longer exist. It was already a huge turnoff that fifty per cent of his boys would be her. Though he planned to love them two hundred per cent to cover up for that. If he knew this a year ago, he would have saved them the displeasure of having her to be their mother.

The first person he saw as he stepped into the hospital was his mother, who got up when her gaze fell on him as well. "How are the babies?" He asked as he returned his mother's soft hug.

"The surgery just started. It shouldn't take more than thirty minutes, President Zhen." A middle-aged man said to Xerxes. He looked down at the man from his six foot three height with a questioning look on his features.

"And you are?"

The man appeared startled by the question. Straightening his coat, he tried to stand taller. "I am Vince Min, the vice director of the hospital. The director couldn't be here to greet you today, but I am here in his stead."

Xerxes looked at the man with a scowl. "You also shouldn't be here. I am not the president that the vice president needs to come out to greet. It is a simple surgery is it not?"

"Sir?"

"This is the largest hospital in the state. You should go attend to your responsibilities. I have studied C-sections and I am sure my wife is in the best hands."

"Ah, yes, sir. Then I-"

Before the man could finish his statement, a nurse burst out of the operating room and dashed into another room. They all stared at her with curious gazes. What was going on? The question got more urgent, however, when Xerxes saw a bag of blood in her grasp. As he rushed towards the room, he unintentionally shoved the vice-director out of the way.

"Sir!" the doctor called out to him. "You can't go in there!"

Xerxes brows furrowed and his eyes were so intense that the man stumbled a few steps before in shock. Stumbling over his words, he finally spoke. "You can't go in there, sir."

"What the hell do you mean by that? I am the father! I am allowed to be in the room!" He growled and the vice-director swallowed.

"Of course, sir, but it's an operation. You must be sterile unless you will end up endangering the patients."

"Then where are the gloves?"

In a moment, Xerxes was in sterile gloves, masks, a hairnet and a surgeon's gown.

"Code blue! Her heart has stopped beating!" That was the first thing he heard as he entered the room.

"Hold on tightly to the clamp, start heart compressions, and bring in the defibrillator now!" The head surgeon ordered.

"My boys! The children?" Xerxes exclaimed his heart in a grip. "What about my children?" He asked. But obviously, no one was paying attention to him at that moment. His gaze travelled to the table, and he almost gagged. There was so much blood that he could barely see anything. He would have hit the floor if not for the wall right behind him.

Oh, no! Oh please no! Don't let his children die! He knew he wished it, but now that it was happening, he did not want it. She shouldn't die either. No woman should have to sacrifice her life to bring others into the world.

"Xian Mina! Wake up, you fucking bitch!"
