Chapter 14: Work

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows of Leo's office, casting a warm glow over the room. He settled into his seat, his mind focused on the day's tasks that lay ahead. The aroma of breakfast wafted in from the adjoining room, signaling the twins' return with sustenance.

As Leo delved into his work, a knock at the door announced the twins' arrival. With friendly smiles, Tina and Melina entered, their hands carrying trays laden with breakfast.

With the breakfast trays set on the table, they each took their seats, ready to discuss the day's agenda. Leo's gaze shifted between Tina and Melina.

"Today is a pivotal day for our collaborative efforts," Leo began, "The update project has made significant headway, and it's time for us to synchronize our understanding and roles."

Tina's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "The game already has a fantastic foundation, and we can't wait to contribute to its evolution."

Melina nodded in agreement, her gaze fixed on Leo. "Indeed, the prospect of enhancing the player experience is exhilarating."

Leo leaned forward. "Absolutely. The update not only introduces new content but also enhances the overall gameplay mechanics. We have to ensure that every addition aligns seamlessly with the existing framework."

As their conversation flowed, Leo delved into the specifics of the game's data and the intricacies of the update. He shared the key insights and components that had gone into crafting the existing experience.

Tina's expression shifted from curiosity to realization. "This data is crucial. It's the foundation upon which the entire update rests."

Leo nodded. "Exactly. For our collaborative efforts to thrive, we need to trust each other and have a comprehensive understanding of the game's mechanics."

With their alignment established, Leo moved to the next phase of their discussion. "Now, let's talk about our roles. Daily, I'd like both of you to focus on monitoring the game, checking for any bugs, and reviewing player feedback. We must maintain a responsive and immersive gaming experience."

Tina and Melina exchanged a knowing look. "We'll ensure the game continues to run smoothly and address any issues promptly," Tina affirmed.

"As for the development of 'Mine Craft'," Leo continued, "we have two key areas to tackle. Tina, you'll be in charge of the multiplayer and peak pixel server. Melina, your focus will be on completing the remaining components of the update. You both have the expertise to excel in these roles."

Tina's excitement was palpable. "Working on the multiplayer aspect is a thrilling opportunity. It's a chance to enhance the game's social dimension."

As their conversation concluded, they immersed themselves in their respective tasks. The office buzzed with activity, the trio diligently working toward their shared goals. While they were busy working, Melina suddenly raised her head in surprise, her gaze fixed on Leo. Tina, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, became curious as well, intrigued by Melina's uncharacteristic display of emotion.

Tina asked, "What happened?" and moved to Melina's side to peer at her computer screen. Her expression mirrored Melina's surprise.

"Leo, were you only using a basic-level engine until now to make games?" Tina inquired, a note of astonishment evident in her tone.

Leo, who had been engrossed in his work, momentarily paused, a realization dawning on him. He offered an awkward smile. "Oh, yes. In the beginning, I didn't have much, so I had to use a low-level free engine."

Tina and Melina exchanged surprised glances. "You are so awesome," Tina exclaimed, genuine appreciation shining in her eyes. Melina nodded in agreement.

"It must have been quite challenging to create games with a low-level engine. It takes a lot of time to work with," Melina added.

Leo's smile held a touch of humility as he responded, "Well, it was a learning experience, that's for sure."

Little did they know that, behind Leo's modest smile, lay the truth of the System's assistance, which had significantly eased his journey.

"Still haven't updated the engine," he mused, his gaze fixed on the screen before him. "Let's rectify that," he added.

As he delved into the search for the engine's website, his focus was shared by the presence of the twins who had sidled up, their curiosity piqued as they peered at the screen.

Tina chimed in thoughtfully, "You know, you can download the core components of the engine, but for optimal performance, you might need to consider acquiring a few additional parts."

Inquisitively, Melina asked, "So, which engine are you thinking of? I've heard the advanced ones can be quite pricey."

Tina interjected playfully, a mischievous grin dancing on her lips, "Considering the massive success of his games, Leo's probably swimming in money. Our esteemed wealthy boss over here."

Leo joined in the lighthearted banter, "Well, if I'm going to make a purchase, might as well aim for the top-tier engine. It's an investment that'll pay off in the long run."

Melina's voice held a note of practicality, "True, but the highest-level engines are typically reserved for seasoned developers, as they have certain prerequisites. However, opting for a high-level engine should still serve you well for now. You'll be able to create some impressive PC games, though venturing into the realm of VR might require meeting those specific requirements."

With a nod, Leo acknowledged the wisdom in her words and continued scrolling, exploring different engines that might suit his needs and aspirations.
