Chapter 24: The Sword's Revelation

"It is you who called me here, Bernice Balliol Agnes," Erios said.

What? What did he just say?

"Youuuuu, reading my mind?" I stuttered, taking a step backward and hitting the rock-hard chest of Alexavier.

"Madam, what are you saying?" he asked.

"Can't you hear what I'm saying? Can't you hear Erios speaking?" I asked.

"No, and who is Erios? Madam, I don't understand what you are saying. It is only me and you are here. There are no Erios here," he said, making me even more confused than I was.

"What are you saying? It is the Holy sword whose name is Erios. It can talk to me. It is the one who told me its name. Why are you acting as if you can't hear it but only I?"

"Because I can't hear anything. I only got to know when you said," he said.

I massaged my temple.

Gosh! Now my head is literally blasting. What on earth are these things happening?

"Bernice, as I said, you can only hear me because you are my master."

"We are connected by blood."

"Blood? How? It is you who just observed my blood now, but you have been following me till here by yourself when we were not even connected by blood," I asked.

"Bernice, do you think now is the only time I have observed your blood?"

"Think carefully! When was the last time you screamed in pain asking for help?"

"Think and tell me when was the last time you have seen yourself drenched in blood trying to survive?"

I screamed in pain? I was drenched in blood? However, no matter how much I think, I can only think of the time when I was killed. Yeah, that was the time I was begging for help. Yeah, that was the time I was trying to survive even though I was drenched in my own blood. Then was that time we were....

I looked at the sword.

"You have figured it out," Erios spoke again with a pleased voice.

"Why is it me? Why did you come to me? Why the hell didn't you save me if you were there? Why the hell didn't you save me when you called me your master? Why didn't you!!!!!!!" my voice got louder.

"Madam, what is going on? Is there something wrong?" I totally forgot that Alexavier is still here.

"Duke, can you excuse me for a while?" I said looking at him.

"But-

"It would be better if you follow the contract rule." I know we didn't even sign the contract paper, but still, I have a thought he sure will take the privacy term seriously.

"As you wish!", he said and left while I was left alone with this Holy sword Erios.

"Now tell me, why didn't you? Or did you just lie about saying you are not followed by the god but by me?" I asked.

"I'm a holy sword. And a holy sword never lies."

"The first thing I said was the truth. I don't follow God. I don't have a movement which is decided by God but by my master, which is you. But as you were reborn again, I was free from all the ties which were stopping me from interacting with you," it said.

Ties? Was something holding on to him?

"Yes, I was locked by the god of fate," it said.

"God of fate?"

"Yes, the god of Fate is Moirai, who has all the authority to rule."

"He is the most punctual and dedicated god I have ever seen, but that was the day I saw the side which no one ever saw."

"When you were dying, I was summoned by you. Even though I have no idea how a mere human who doesn't have any magical power is able to summon me, still I was there when those inhuman people were hitting you again and again with those sharp swords, piercing through your skin."

"Before I could do anything, you stopped breathing, but I connected with you as I was drenched with your blood."

"I tried so hard to save you, but that is when I was locked in those ties which made my power stop from flowing."

"It was the God of Fate who stopped me."

"He was so furious seeing me stopping the flow of life which is why I was tied, but that could have never stopped me as I was able to know the existence of yours once again. I was freed even though it was against the god. But no one can make me stop as my contractor is still alive."

"Moirai?" I spoke.

"Yes, Moirai, be careful. The danger is still here. No, in clear words, the flow of life has continued so if you won't be careful, the flow will continue once more, killing your life, and this time the god will be the one to take your life to rectify the previous mistake."

So because of me, the flow of life has changed? Is this being the Lunar god trying to tell me I was assigned as the Holy knight and if I don't do as he said I will be killed once more? Or is he the one of them who is after my life? No, no, I can't just come to a conclusion until I reach an end.

"Yes, Bernice keeps moving forward. But slowly. Those gods are the most cunning ones from inside. From outside they can pretend to be gentle to their followers but inside they are nothing but monsters."

Yeah, I kind of guessed the moment I faced Lunar. Even the priests were saying that his name can't be taken carelessly. Then I wonder what kind of nature Moirai holds. Does he have even bigger authority than Lunar? Or is he superior to Lunar from every perspective?

"Thanks for the warning, Erios." I finally smiled.

I really have a desire to pat this sword so badly.

"I can take human form as well, if my master wishes."
