Chapter 62: Logan from the Future

"I'm heading out!" Raven declared with determination.

Raven's nod signaled agreement, and then she turned to Alex with a sly smile, adding a touch of humor to the moment. "But," she paused, "you're coming with me!"

"That's fantastic! With Alex by my side, there's nothing we can't handle!" Eric's enthusiasm was contagious.

"Alright, count me in!" Alex agreed, meeting Raven's intense gaze with a smile. "I've been cooped up for too long; it's time to venture out."

"Fantastic! I'll book a flight immediately!" Raven was excited.

Raven, looking at Alex, playfully blinked and said, "This time, you're exclusively on my team."

"Absolutely," Alex responded, nodding in acknowledgment of Raven's playful tone."Eric, you know, you don't necessarily have to send Raven into the lion's den at Trisk Industries. Find Charles; let him take a look, and we'll have all the information we need."

Alex glanced at Eric, who seemed lost in thought.

"I haven't seen Charles in ages!" Eric's expression darkened as he shook his head.

"Perhaps it's time to bring Charles into the loop! This kind of weapon poses a threat to him as well," Alex suggested, emphasizing the importance of their collective safety.

"To Charles, there's no 'Brotherhood' or 'X-Men'; we're all mutants in the eyes of others. This concerns him too," Eric mused.

"Yes, indeed. Let's head to Xavier Manor first," Alex agreed, steering the car towards the outskirts of New York.

Meanwhile, in a Canadian tavern, Wolverine underwent a transformation.

A mysterious wave passed through, causing Wolverine, mid-sip, to jolt with surprise.

The ambient light flickered, casting dancing shadows that seemed to undulate like water waves, creating an eerie yet mesmerizing atmosphere, as if the very fabric of time and space were in constant flux.

"I'm back?" Wolverine mumbled, his voice cutting through the strange ambiance.

In a future teetering on the brink of destruction, with mutants and humans facing annihilation, Wolverine received a fateful order to fight to the death. Utilizing Shadowcat's extraordinary time-traveling ability, Wolverine's soul traversed from a dystopian future to a pivotal moment in the past.

Wincing in pain, Wolverine slowly opened his eyes, immediately sensing something amiss with his body. Clenching his fist, he was bewildered as three bone spurs emerged from the fist's surface.

"My claws..."

Examining the protruding bone spurs, Wolverine felt like he was trapped in a surreal dream. This version of Wolverine had yet to encounter the man who would alter his destiny – General Stryker. At this point, he remained a denizen of the slums, untouched by the "Edman Metal," and far from the transformation into the formidable Wolverine.

"Am I truly back? Is this reality?"

Confronted by a mix of familiar and unfamiliar surroundings, Logan's mind raced with countless images, leaving him disoriented.

"Ugh..."

Clutching his head, Logan struggled to catch his breath, the dizzying sensation lingering for what felt like an eternity before gradually subsiding.

"Canada, eh? I need to find Charles immediately. We have to alter the course of events, change that grim future."

Logan sprang to his feet, abruptly leaving the tavern.

A gunshot echoed in front of Logan as the tavern keeper, armed with a double-barreled shotgun, glared at him with an icy demeanor. "Boy, I ain't no pushover! No one gets a free drink from me. Fork over the money, or I'll put a hole in your head with one shot!"

"Uh..." Logan hesitated, realizing he hadn't paid for the drink he had just consumed.

"Alright! My bad! I'll settle the tab right now."

Reaching for his pocket, Logan's face fell as he discovered it was empty – not a single copper coin in sight.

"Well... Ain't this just my luck?"

In the harsh reality that befell the valiant "fighter" dedicated to salvaging the world and altering its course, a devastating blow was dealt.

"Hey, can't you put it on credit or something?" Logan pleaded, casting a desperate look at the grizzled tavern keeper.

"No cash? Well then, strip down and scram!" The tavern keeper's gruff demand echoed through the dimly lit establishment.

Logan's worn leather jacket hardly held much monetary value, yet this was the harsh penalty imposed by the unforgiving fellow.

Running out into the icy wilderness without any clothes would undoubtedly result in a bone-chilling experience.

"Apologies, but I'm on a mission to save the world!" Logan managed a rueful smile before swiftly making a hasty exit. It was too embarrassing to embark on a quest to save the world while in the buff!

A thunderous sound followed – the tavern keeper fired a shot into the air, the barrel aimed not at Logan but at the heavens above.

"I'll be back to settle the debt!" Logan shouted as he fled, his departure marked by a resounding boom.

"You scoundrel! Next time I see you, I'll bash your skull in!" the tavern keeper's angry tirade echoed after Logan as he disappeared into the distance.

And so, the hero destined to alter the future began his journey, but the path was anything but smooth.
