Chapter 158: Chapter 158 "Dumbledore's Invitation"

Wentworth keenly observed every event in today's class. After the lesson, he sought out Cassandra by advising, "Cassandra, you needn't repeat this in future Potions classes. Professor Snape isn't naive, and I'd rather not incur his wrath."

Cassandra, taken aback by Wentworth's words, smiled and questioned, "Future potions classes? What about the other subjects?"

Wentworth paused briefly before calmly responding, "I want to have a fair competition with you. I wanted to test my limit and see whether I truly stand above my peers in terms of academic knowledge."

Cassandra watched in silence as Wentworth departed, her thoughts concealed.

Deep down in her heart, Cassandra only wants to get his attention and prove to him that she is worth the position to join the Alliance. Instead, in the process of doing so, she only halted and almost blew the Alliance covers in front of the other students in Hogwarts.

Back in the Hufflepuff common room, Wentworth summoned Green to his dormitory.

The content of their conversation remained a mystery to everyone, yet Green emerged from Wentworth's room, blushing, leaving even Cedric in the dark.

From that day forward, other students became mere spectators in the Hogwarts one-year course. Their role in class was to listen to the professors, akin to watching a play, while the focus shifted to the intricate dynamics between Wentworth and Cassandra.

The Hogwarts Quidditch match took center stage amid the intense scoring battles between Hufflepuff and Slytherin.

Despite Hufflepuff's triumphant three-game streak, Slytherin unexpectedly suffered defeat against Gryffindor, instantly widening the gap for Hedge to exploit.

As June arrives, Hogwarts plunges into its most rigorous exam week. Every student, including the studious Gryffindors like the Weasley twins, who were known for their carefree attitude, is deeply immersed in intense preparation.

Over the last weekend, Lupin bid farewell to Wentworth and Cedric, with plans to reunite at the beginning of the new school year.

However, for individuals like Wentworth and Cedric, the impending exams seem like a mere formality, rendering extensive review unnecessary. Their primary concern shifts to Green's O.W.L.S exam.

As Green emerges from the final Defense Against the Dark Arts exam room, Wentworth and Cedric, waiting eagerly, greet him instantly.

"How did it go, Senior Green?" Cedric asks anxiously, studying Green's expression.

Green's eyes sweep across the duo, and a subtle smile gradually widens on his face, eventually breaking into a knowing smile.

Cedric and Wentworth exchange glances, celebrating with a hug for Green. "We know you could do it! Even though you are not the best, but we believe in you, Senior!" They said to Green while still in a hug.

Hearing them saying something close to ridiculing him, Green only let the words pass by and hugged them even tighter to share the joyous mood.

Wearing a smile, Green shares, "Not bad at all. I believe it's at least an E. With this, I think I can secure at least 8 certificates!"

Upon hearing Green's revelation, Wentworth and Cedric simultaneously exclaimed with a "wow."

Little did they know that Green had initially opted out of several courses, including divination and ancient magic patterns. Essentially, all the courses Green chose were ones he could effortlessly pass in the O.W.L.S exam.

In this moment, Wentworth realizes he may have made a mistake. Influenced by the original work, he had always perceived Cedric as the top scholar in their midst.

However, now he recognizes that Green is also a formidable scholar, fully developed in his academic pursuits.

The Hufflepuff prefect and Quidditch team captain, boasting a minimum of 8 O.W.L.S exam certificates, Green emerges as a true all-rounder.

Pondering this revelation, Wentworth attributes Green's lack of presence in the original book to the significant age difference and minimal interaction with the original protagonist.

This leads to Wentworth having second thoughts on the few plans that he had made, which revolve around Cedric and Green. Most of the plans made were more inclined to have Cedric as its core, but after seeing Green's performance, it made Wentworth look at Green in a new light.

As the exam week concludes and results are revealed, Hogwarts is immersed in contrasting emotions of joy and sadness.

Some eagerly anticipate the holiday break, while others lament that their parents might neglect to inquire about their academic transcripts.

Aside from History of Magic, where Wentworth received an E, he excelled with O grades in all other courses during his first year at Hogwarts.

Only Cassandra's overall O managed to surpass Wentworth's academic achievements. An achievement that only Cedric could boast alone by himself...

While it may seem that Wentworth fell short to Cassandra on an individual level, the Quidditch match played a pivotal role in securing Hufflepuff's triumph in the Academy Cup, breaking Katie's longstanding monopoly.

The entire Hogwarts auditorium underwent festive decorations at the farewell party, also known as the final dinner.

Hufflepuff flags replaced all others above the auditorium, prompting every Hufflepuff to enter with a sense of pride.

Gryffindor and Ravenclaw showed no difficulty accepting Hufflepuff's House Cup victory in the other three houses, with the Weasley brothers from Gryffindor applauding and congratulating Hufflepuff.

"All students of Hogwarts, time goes by without us even realizing it. Yesterday still feels like the start of a semester, yet today is already the end of it. I sincerely praise all of you for all of your efforts in learning everything that we Professors have to offer." Dumbledore concluded his speech with a bright smile.

While Slytherin students appeared somewhat disheartened, Headmaster Dumbledore's announcement of the farewell dinner's commencement warmed the entire auditorium's atmosphere.

Amidst the lively atmosphere, Wentworth noticed the napkin on his table transforming into the shape of a palm. The palm gestured towards him, then pointed outside the auditorium.

Perplexed, Wentworth glanced around and spotted Headmaster Dumbledore leaving the staff seat and heading out. Intuitively, Wentworth whispered to Cedric and Green, then made his way out of the Hogwarts auditorium. Once outside, he encountered Dumbledore patiently waiting nearby.

"Headmaster Dumbledore, were you looking for me?" Wentworth inquired respectfully as he approached Dumbledore.

Dumbledore, wearing a smile, observed Wentworth and remarked, "Wentworth, in a year, you've grown much taller and resemble your grandfather more and more in his youth!"

Upon hearing Dumbledore's words, Wentworth couldn't shake the feeling that a significant conversation or confrontation was on the horizon.

Dumbledore shifted the conversation and inquired, "Wentworth, what are your plans for this holiday?"

Caught off guard by the unexpected question, Wentworth tentatively responded, "I plan to practice spells at home and perhaps learn some new ones."

Nonchalantly nodding at Wentworth's answer, Dumbledore said, "I'm pleased to see you maintain your high standards even during the holidays." Just as Wentworth was about to offer a polite response, Dumbledore continued, "I have an old friend scouring the world for various magical creatures. He's getting on in years and is looking for a talented young companion. Would you be interested? It's a summer camp!"

Hearing Dumbledore's sudden invitation made Wentworth feel lost...

What's with the invitation all of a sudden? Wentworth was sure that Dumbledore planned to do something because of what had happened in McGonagall's class. It's just he isn't sure what will happen exactly...
