Chapter 48: The Changes

Alice's determination echoed in the air as she shook her head. "I'm coming. I still have a lot of things to settle with him." The gravity of her words hung in the tense atmosphere, setting the stage for the impending confrontation.

Wesker, ever the composed antagonist, meticulously adjusted his attire. Despite the imminent battle, he prioritized maintaining the facade of a gentleman. Curiosity gleamed in his eyes, questioning the audacity of those who dared to challenge him.

"Not together?" Wesker inquired, a hint of disdain in his tone.

"I'm afraid you won't be able to hold the three together," Alice retorted with confidence.

A sly sneer curled Wesker's lips as he gestured towards Alice, a silent invitation for the impending clash.

Their eyes locked, a silent dialogue of determination and defiance passing between them.

In a swift move, Alice's long legs swept across, aiming for Wesker. To his surprise, he caught the leg, a dull thud resonating as they separated. Wesker couldn't hide the unease creeping into his thoughts – how could her strength be so formidable?

Undeterred, Wesker maintained his composure. "Yes, it seems that you have learned a lot of good things outside, but if it is only this, it may not be enough."

Alice raised her eyebrows, a challenge in her gaze. The battle intensified as a whirlwind of kicks and punches ensued, the air crackling with the impact of their blows.

Observing from the sidelines, Carlos couldn't help but voice his suspicion, "This guy, isn't he also injected with the T virus?"

Jill shook her head, offering her insight, "I'm afraid not only. Maybe he also accepted the R-1 medicine. Otherwise, it would be impossible to fight Alice for so long."

The realization of Wesker's enhanced abilities dawned on them as the battle unfolded. Alice and Wesker clashed, each movement a blur of precision and power. Gradually, it became evident that Alice, despite her relentless assault, was being subtly suppressed by Wesker.

As the intensity peaked, Carlos and Jill seized the opportunity to launch a coordinated attack. Carlos sprinted with speed, aiming a flying knee directly at Wesker. The unexpected move caught Wesker off guard, forcing him to evade Alice's whip leg. However, Jill swiftly followed up with a high whip kick, completing a seamless three-person offensive.

The impact echoed with a resounding boom, momentarily gaining the upper hand against Wesker. Frustration flashed in his eyes as he observed his shattered sunglasses on the ground, a cherished possession now in ruins.

"You succeeded in pissing me off," Wesker declared, his anger fueling a formidable counterattack. The ground trembled with each step as he unleashed a powerful force, suppressing the combined efforts of Alice, Carlos, and Jill.

"Alice, what are you waiting for?" Jill urged, momentarily distracted as she was forcefully kicked back.

In the midst of the chaos, Alice frowned. This unexpected turn of events demanded a swift response. "Flash off," she declared, a signal for a tactical retreat or a change in strategy. The battlefield remained dynamic, and the outcome hung in the balance.

Upon hearing the words, the duo swiftly sidestepped Wesker, only to witness an inexplicable force emanating from Alice. It felt like a hurricane, wreaking havoc as it tore through tiles and shattered glass on the floor.

Wesker, caught off guard, barely managed to raise his hands in defense. A tremendous force slammed into his body, and before he could react, he found himself sprawled on the ground, temporarily incapacitated.

As he attempted to rise, Wesker realized he was immobilized. Confused, he questioned, "What power is this?"

Staring down the barrels of three guns pointed at his head, Wesker inquired further, "It seems that Isaac didn't tell you everything."

Bang...bang bang bang!

The deafening gunshots echoed, riddling Wesker with bullets as Carlos delivered a fatal shot to his head.

"Huh, if this guy hadn't betrayed you, maybe we wouldn't stand a chance against him one-on-one," Jill remarked, her expression solemn. The gravity of the situation weighed on them as they turned and walked away. The ominous thought lingered—how many Wesker-like threats lurked within Umbrella?

However, their departure was interrupted by an unexpected sight. Wesker, seemingly down and out, rose again. Countless tentacles emerged from his gaping mouth, a grotesque and terrifying transformation.

"Zombie?" Carlos scoffed, unimpressed. "Even alive, we managed to kill him. How much power can a zombie really have?" He grabbed a shotgun, taking a shot directly at Wesker's protruding tentacles.

"Did you find it?" Jill asked.

"No."

"Where are you going?"

"Nowhere."

"Perhaps there are no wind-borne agents here."

Alice, in a slightly somber mood, noted the absence of the T virus antidote in the base. It seemed she needed to explore the Hive Base in Raccoon City for a solution.

"This world has endured too much," she sighed.

"What about this base?" Alice surveyed her surroundings. "Take what you can use, and the rest... let's blow it up. I recall the base having a self-destruction device."

They departed, leaving destruction in their wake, dismantling the Vegas base a week later.

Varion emerged from the Creation Room, placing the Code of Life back. He sensed a change but couldn't discern it.

"It seems that nothing has changed," he frowned.

"Master, it's not that it hasn't changed. According to your current physical condition, the absorption rate of solar radiation has become much higher than before," Mousse explained.

Varion nodded in realization, "The two have similar levels of gene editing, so why is there such a significant difference?"

"Perhaps it is a necessity. Regardless of the Kryptonian template, each one adjusts its evolution based on its individual needs."

"Maybe so! Anyway, it's a good thing," Varion concluded with a hint of satisfaction.
