Chapter 53: Wesker's Plan

"Mousse, fetch the latest study for me."

In the sub-base, Varion's personal research room encompasses the entire base. There are phenomena that earthly instruments alone cannot fathom, and these mysteries abound within the scientific research facility.

Outside, the relentless clash between Alice and her comrades against Isaac's biochemical army rages on, an ebb and flow of victories and losses.

"Damn, what in tarnation are these folks? How can they wield such power?" Isaac exclaimsed violently slamming a pile of objects before him.

The screen displays the intense battle scene of S1 and others. Each strike resonates with power and grace, a spectacle of violence that is both pure and inexplicable. The virus can't touch them, and even bullets prove futile. Their clothing remains untouched.

Isaac senses that he's no longer on solid Earth ground.

Wesker's eyes, concealed beneath sunglasses, betray little emotion as he suggests, "Doctor, I have an idea."

"Spill it."

"It appears likely that these individuals aren't human but rather genetically modified entities, while we remain human."

Isaac furrows his brow, cutting in impatiently, "Get to the point."

"What if we join forces with Alice and the others to infiltrate the Las Vegas base from within?"

Huh? That's an option, but... if Varion were to meet an untimely demise, it would be a shame not to glean anything from him.

"Can you guarantee they'll cooperate? Remember, she might fancy having us for lunch."

"It's just a matter of finding a common enemy, Doctor."

"Give it a shot!"

With no other recourse, even the tyrants are thrown into the fray, initially proving effective. However, Isaac soon notices the swift escalation of these individuals' strength, effortlessly dispatching the tyrants.

These are no ordinary foes; they are Umbrella's pinnacle biochemical weapons, not to be trifled with.

Once Wesker departs, Isaac quells his irritability.

"Red Queen, any pertinent information gathered?"

"Doctor, based on recent observations, these beings seem to rely heavily on solar radiation. This could be their source of enhancement, though further details remain elusive."

Isaac pauses, contemplating, "Dependent on sunlight? Their energy source is the sun?"

"Yes, exposure to sunlight leads to observable physical improvement. It's gradual but consistent."

Musing to himself, Isaac suddenly feels a sense of awe.

"Truly a flawless creation."

This must be Varion's handiwork, given his expertise in bioengineering. Are these beings an evolution from humans to superhumans, or did he craft an entirely new species with human-like bodies?

"I must obtain this. Once I unlock these secrets, perhaps I can attain immortality."

Isaac's face flushes, his breathing taking on a rough edge. Imagine a race that can become stronger simply by basking in the sun—perfect, even for potential survival in space where solar radiation is far more abundant.

.....

Days later, Wesker returns.

"Doctor, after discussions, Alice and the others have agreed to collaborate with us."

Isaac, taken aback, queries, "How did you manage to convince them?"

Wesker leaned back in his chair, a sinister grin playing on his lips. "Well, it ain't too complicated. I just told 'em, 'Cooperate, and I'll hand over the T virus antiviral serum.'"

Alice, looking skeptical, quirked an eyebrow. "So, did she really buy that?"

"Believe it or not, it's Varion's fault," Wesker continued. "He promised to cook up a wind-borne agent to tackle the T virus, but he never delivered."

....

"Couldn't he just focus on research instead of leavin' us hangin'?" Alice wondered aloud.

The days dragged on for Alice and her group, with news of global human casualties reaching them daily. The desperation was palpable, but then Wesker showed up, offering a choice.

Even Alice had tried asking Varion for the wind-borne T virus medicine, but he wasn't interested. The undead and Alice without her powers didn't align with Varion's goals.

"Alice, do we really gotta do this?" Carlos asked, concern etched on his face.

Shaking her head, Alice sighed, "Carlos, we're running out of options. People are dying every day. We can't predict who'll make it. This is our shot."

"But ain't those Umbrella folks more reliable? At least they won't harm us here," Jill argued.

"Maybe! But we're all human, ain't we? Are those people even human? Ever seen a person fly or teleport? Even I pay a price for using my abilities."

"They're like instincts, full of violence," Alice added. S1 and his crew were mutating rapidly, posing a growing threat.

Such individuals weren't a boon in this dark and chaotic age. According to Wesker, they weren't even human.

Alice turned to Carlos and Jill. "Do you wanna stick together?"

They exchanged glances. Did they have a choice? Aligning with Alice meant inevitable consequences for the entire base.

"Are you sure?" Carlos questioned.

Alice smirked, "Andre will help us."

"What?"

"How's that possible? Ain't he Varion's lapdog?" Carlos couldn't believe it.

"No, he's always been Wesker's man."

Turns out, Andre was working for Wesker all along.

.....

Varion was deep in research, oblivious to the unfolding events within the base.

"Don't fret over it. Let S1 handle things. This world's coming to an end, and humans are a dreadful bunch."

The T virus wreaked havoc, drying up vegetation and straining water resources. If it weren't for the virus spreading in water, the seas would be swarming with trillions of zombies.

"By the way, Mousse, store some T viruses on the research vessel. This thing's got potential. Maybe we can whip up an even better virus down the line."

"Sure thing, boss."
