Chapter 2: Prologue; Ephemeral

Nathan felt detached from the physical world as he wandered through the gray space. Being in a formless state without a body was a strange feeling. At first, he was disoriented and unsure of where to go, but as he continued to explore, he realized that the space was vast and seemingly endless.

There were no discernible landmarks or points of reference, just a featureless expanse that stretched out in all directions. The ground beneath his feet felt spongy and insubstantial, like walking on a cloud. As he moved, he noticed that the grayness of the space seemed to shift in tone and intensity, sometimes growing darker or lighter depending on his mood.

Time seemed to lose all meaning in this place. Nathan couldn't tell if he walked for minutes, hours, or even days. The lack of physical sensations and the absence of any real stimuli made measuring the passage of time difficult. He tried to count his footsteps, but they seemed to echo endlessly into the distance without any discernible pattern or rhythm. As he walked through the space, he stumbled upon floating in the air, seemingly asleep.

As Nathan approached the sleeping man with a mixture of curiosity and caution. The man's eyes were a piercing blue, almost glowing in the grayness of the space. The man's expression shifted from confusion to intrigue as they met Nathan.

The man's features were chiseled and robust, with a square jawline and high cheekbones. His hair was dark and tousled, giving him a rugged, unkempt look. Nathan couldn't help but be drawn to the man's intense gaze, which conveyed a deep sense of wisdom and experience.

As Nathan watched, the man slowly rose from his position in the air and floated effortlessly toward him. He didn't seem to be walking or flying but rather moving through the space with a fluid grace that was both mesmerizing and unsettling.

Nathan stood frozen as the man approached, unsure of what to expect. But as the man drew closer, he extended his hand in greeting, revealing a warm and welcoming smile that put Nathan at ease.

"Hello there," the man said in a deep, melodious voice. "I don't often see new faces around here. What brings you to limbo?"

Nathan was shocked to hear that he was in limbo, where souls go if they don't enter the cycle of reincarnation. He had never heard of such a place before and didn't know what to do.

Looking around, he noticed that the man he had met earlier had a kind and wise aura about him. Nathan felt drawn to him and asked, "Who are you?"

The man smiled and said, "I am Ahura Mazda, the Zoroastrian god of light and wisdom."

In the company of a deity, Nathan found himself filled with wonder and deep serenity. Gazing at Ahura Mazda, he inquired, "How can I depart from this realm and join the cycle of rebirth?" Nathan held strong beliefs in karma and the cycle of reincarnation.

Ahura Mazda replied, "To enter the cycle of reincarnation, your soul must have a certain balance of good and bad karma. However, your soul is completely neutral, neither good nor bad, so it doesn't meet the requirements to enter the cycle."

Nathan felt disheartened to hear this. He had always tried to live a good life, but now it seemed like it was all for nothing. Ahura Mazda noticed Nathan's sadness and said, "Don't worry, my child. Your soul may be neutral because your soul cannot enter the cycle of reincarnation, I will give you a chance of reincarnation."

Guiding him, Ahura Mazda directed Nathan's attention to a wheel adorned with a myriad of diverse names, each representing various television shows.

Nathan was amazed that Ahura Mazda had given him a chance for reincarnation. He couldn't believe his luck and felt grateful for the opportunity. Nathan felt excitement and nervousness as Ahura Mazda brought out a wheel for him to spin.

Nathan stood before the spinning wheel, feeling a mix of anticipation and nervousness; with resolve, he stepped forward and spun the wheel. He knew that the world he was about to be reborn into would shape his entire existence, and the uncertainty made his heart race. As the wheel slowed, Nathan held his breath, watching as it landed on a world he immediately recognized - the universe of "The Originals" and "Legacies". A thrill ran through him at the thought of being reborn into such a rich and intriguing world.

Turning to face Ahura Mazda, Nathan felt a surge of gratitude for god's blessing. "Thank you, Ahura Mazda," he said, his voice filled with wonder. "I cannot wait to see what life awaits me in this world."

Nathan felt a sense of determination grow within him as he knelt before Ahura Mazda, humbled by the god's immense power and wisdom. With every fiber of his being, he knew that he had a unique destiny to fulfill in this new world he was about to enter.

As he spoke those words, Nathan closed his eyes and focused on the being he wanted to become. He didn't want to be just any ordinary supernatural creature - he wanted to be different, unique. And he knew exactly what he wanted to be.

"Ahura Mazda," he spoke, raising his eyes to meet the deity's gaze. "Before I start anew, I have one last request. Let me be reborn as the child of Malachai Parker and a Cresent werewolf; I would like to be an incubus like Bo dennis."

Ahura Mazda regarded Nathan contemplatively before offering a nod of consent. "Certainly," he replied, a touch of amusement coloring his words. "Your incubus nature will remain dormant until you experience your first sexual encounter. You'll attain immortality upon activating it but undergo a physical aging that halts at 19 years old."

"As an added boon, I shall bestow upon you a grimoire containing an array of spells; the stronger you get, the more spells you'll be able to access," Ahura Mazda said

Ahura Mazda smiled at Nathan's request and said, "My child, you have a kind and noble soul. I will give you my blessing; you will have the strength and wisdom to overcome any obstacles that come your way. You will find your true purpose and positively impact the world."

Nathan felt a rush of energy as he was enveloped in a bright light. He closed his eyes and embraced the sensation, feeling transported to a new world.

-----------------

Nathan found himself in a dark alley, feeling weak and small. Looking down at his hand, he realized it belonged to an infant - a petite, chubby, and cute baby. Confused and disoriented, Nathan began to cry, feeling lost and alone in the darkness.

As he sobbed, he heard a woman's voice - a British accent filled with concern for the child. Suddenly, he saw a figure approaching him - a blonde woman with piercing blue eyes. It was Rebekah Mikaelson,

Rebekah cradled the sobbing infant, gazing at him with warmth and affection. Glancing around, searching for clues about the child, her attention landed on a nearby grimoire placed right next to the baby. She reached for the grimoire and picked it up. Nathan felt a surge of relief wash over him as he realized that he was no longer alone. Rebekah seemed to sense his presence, and she smiled at him reassuringly.

Nathan felt Rebekah's strong arms wrap around him, holding him close to her chest. He could hear her heart's steady beat and feel her body's warmth against his skin. As she hummed a soft melody, Nathan's sobs began to subside, and he felt a sense of peace over him.

He looked up at Rebekah's face and was struck by her beauty - her blonde hair cascading in loose waves around her shoulders, her blue eyes sparkling with kindness and compassion. He wondered how someone so powerful and otherworldly could be gentle and nurturing.

Nathan closed his eyes and drifted into a peaceful sleep, safe and secure in Rebekah's loving embrace. He dreamed of a world filled with magic and wonder, where everything was possible and within his grasp.

When he woke up, he was still in Rebekah's arms, but they were no longer in the dark alley. They were now in a cozy bedroom with soft blankets and pillows surrounding them. Nathan looked up at Rebekah's face and smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude and wonder at the kindness of this powerful vampire.
