Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The World of "Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan"

A journey through time unfolds, casting back fifteen years into the past.

Jiang Li, in his previous incarnation, was an ordinary otaku. As a member of the vast Starting Point Universe, he naturally found himself growing up in the Starting Point Orphanage. Web novels became his means of sustenance, offering modest monthly earnings. While the compensation per publication remained modest, he enjoyed a life free from entanglements, embracing a state of liberty.

Then, one fateful day, an intrusive pop-up appeared on his computer screen—an advert, a portal to a realm unknown. Curiously, it beckoned players to sculpt their character templates.

Resisting its dismissal, Jiang Li was ensnared, unable to escape. The website's allure resembled a toxin, urging him to abandon his computer. Yet, a tantalizing curiosity got the better of him, compelling him to try his hand at the game and create his character template.

This template encompassed two central facets: the foundation of attributes and the essence of innate skills.

Attributes encompassed five dimensions: physique, mentality, magic power, charisma, and luck.

But it was the enigma of innate skills that struck him—the peculiarity not lying in the options, but in the icons. These innate skills appeared as crude symbols, a testament to the limitations of an animation novice, devoid of explanatory text.

For ten minutes, he peered intently, struggling to decipher the icons: sword, bow, spear, fist, foot, iron hammer, test tube, fishing rod, among others. The majority remained enigmatic, leaving him as technologically inept as a senior citizen wrestling with a smartphone's complexity. Frustration welled within him, a cascade of expletives directed toward the game designer's ancestry.

A curious notion arose—the notion of a life simulation game, infected by a viral anomaly. With this speculation in mind, he ventured forth, succumbing to his inquisitive nature.

Then...

A jolt of wakefulness transported him to a new reality—into a realm named "Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan."

The questions surrounding his unconscious transmigration and the baffling shift into a two-dimensional realm eluded his grasp. Rather than unraveling these enigmas, he chose to adapt, to embrace the blank pages of his novel existence.

Though this world's surface bore semblance to Earth, fundamental disparities arose across history, culture, and geography.

At its core lay the dominance of extraordinary abilities.

Enter the Blazer.

A group capable of manifesting their souls into weaponry—Devices—channeling their unique powers through magic. Among a thousand, only one could claim the mantle of a Blazer, a singular being of special distinction.

In antiquity, they were known as Magicians and Witches, their weapons hailed as Holy Swords, Magic Bows, Cursed Armaments, and Noble Phantasms.

In this age, these wielders of supernatural might became Blazers, harnessing their soul's embodiment as armaments—Devices.

An extraordinary phenomenon, an ascendancy beyond humanity's confines, a force that exceeded the limits of martial prowess and conventional arms. The influence of Blazers extended to every corner of society, shaping the very core of police, military, and even warfare.

"This world revolves around the nucleus of Blazers."

Journeying on the cable car towards Hagun Academy, Jiang Li mused, his thoughts carried on a train of contemplation.

In his previous life, he had been a wordsmith, unriddling this world's complexities through novels. Yet the sands of time had eroded his recollection. Despite concerted efforts to recall, his mind exhibited its own capricious disposition.

The news of Hagun Academy's reforms would have remained veiled were it not for his Senior Sister's counsel.

Over the years, Jiang Li had become acclimatized, navigating through this world, absorbing its essential knowledge.

Blazers held immense power; the mightiest among them even wielded control over time itself, posing a challenge to entire nations.

Yet, power came hand in hand with responsibility, birthing the "Mage-Knight System."

This system dictated that Blazers must graduate from internationally accredited institutions specializing in nurturing Blazers, earning their "Professional Certification" to qualify as Mage-Knights.

Blazers lacking such certification were relegated to non-specialized status.

Blazers like Jiang Li's Senior Sister, attending institutions dedicated to nurturing them, were often known as "Student Knights," apprentices in the realm of Mage-Knights.

Blazers like Jiang Li, bereft of certification and apprentice status, were, from a societal standpoint, mere civilians.

His mentor's directive to enroll at Hagun Academy aimed to transform Jiang Li into a true Mage-Knight.

In this realm of the Japanese Nation, Hagun Academy stood among the seven <knight schools> where one could obtain Mage-Knight Professional Certification. Of course, this depended on successful completion of their academic journey here.

...

Hagun Academy nestled in the outskirts of Tokyo, a mere hour's drive from Tokyo International Airport.

As noon approached, the two figures disembarked from the train at the nearest Hagun Academy station.

This city did not boast opulence.

Its scale did not rival that of sprawling metropolises, notably distant from Tokyo's clamor. Though thoroughly modernized, with numerous skyscrapers dotting the urban landscape, it still retained the character of a third-tier city.

Hagun Academy found its place in this city's periphery, amidst the embrace of remote mountains.

Stepping out of the station, they were greeted by a full kilometer of ascending road. Verdant vegetation lined its edges, adorned with pink cherry blossoms in full bloom—nature's vibrant spectacle, a sight to behold.

After a dozen minutes or so, the crest of the slope was reached. Before them stood the entrance to Hagun Academy.

"How spacious."

Jiang Li entered the academy's gates, his gaze sweeping across the rows of classrooms and dormitories on either side. A sigh escaped his lips, awed by the sight.

"Indeed, with only seven such universities in all of Japan, it's only natural that it isn't lacking. In fact, Hagun Academy covers an area of around 50 hectares, roughly equivalent to ten Tokyo Domes combined!"

Senior Sister, observing Jiang Li's reaction, responded with evident pride.

Indeed.

A panoramic view revealed the expansive scope of Hagun Academy, stretching beyond the eye's reach. A landscape of buildings, forests, and domed arenas created a sense of solitude akin to that of a lone figure within a bustling city center.

"It appears there aren't many people around."

Jiang Li surveyed the vicinity, scarcely spotting a single soul near the academy's entrance.

"It's still a few days until school starts. Both students and teachers have yet to return."

Senior Sister gently patted Jiang Li's shoulder, a reminder of the situation. "Shall we proceed? I'll take you to the Director's Office to complete the admission process, and then we can celebrate."

Jiang Li nodded and followed in Senior Sister's footsteps.

Crossing through the main entrance, they were met with a tall cluster of over a dozen buildings directly opposite—upon closer inspection, the entire academy seemed to stand alone in its class. This was the Educational Administration Building, where the faculty conducted their work.

Upon entering the building and ascending through an elevator, Senior Sister paused before a room on the top floor.

"Thump thump BOOM!"

"Enter."

At the sound of Senior Sister's knock, a cold female voice beckoned from within.

"Please, come in."

Senior Sister opened the door, signaling Jiang Li to follow.

"Director, it's me, Toudou Touka. As previously arranged, I'm here to complete the admission process for my Junior Brother. I've sent the necessary documents to your email."

Jiang Li stepped into the room silently and closed the door behind him.

The setting was a lavishly appointed office—golden chandeliers dangled from the ceiling, precious rugs adorned the floor, and furniture of polished red wood gleamed. Murals adorned the walls, embodying opulence in every stroke.

"Student Council President, since he's your Junior Brother, it means he's also a disciple of the God of War?"

Behind a desk, a woman dressed in a sharp black suit focused on her computer screen. As Jiang Li and Senior Sister entered, her gaze shifted momentarily to Jiang Li, betraying a hint of surprise before returning to the illuminated screen, where Toudou Touka's email awaited her scrutiny.

"Nangou Jiang Li? And with this surname... he's actually an E-Rank Knight?"
