Chapter 2: Washed Up The Shore

The waves hit the shore silently.

"Arianna!"

"Arianna!"

Logan screamed.

"I'm over here!" She yelled back.

He walked past a giant rock and saw at the far end of the beach, a vague Arianna. He ran to her in his old torn up boots. As he got closer, her facial features became more apparent.

She had long dark brown hair that reached her waist. Her skin was so fair that her blood vessels could be vividly seen. Her nose was tall and slim, her nostrils small. Her lips were a scarlet color and were full. Her eyes were gray and so deep, they looked like wormholes that could suck someone into them. Anyone who looked into her eyes would feel like all their secrets had been exposed.

He finally stopped in front of her and was looking into her eyes. The eyes that were so deep, he felt like he wasn't wearing any clothes as she gazed at him. Gray eyes weren't usually deep, so her eyes were rare. They were sharp, calm, unperturbed, nonchalant, still and cool at the same time.

"You are in a daze again." Her crisp voice made him snap out of his thoughts.

"I'm already a fool, aren't I?" He said and Arianna smiled shyly.

"Such folly. Would you not desist from it?" Arianna asked.

"I believe my sister is the prettiest and the fairest of them all." Logan said.

"Your sister is but a commoner. Not a lady." Arianna said.

"We are commoners." She added.

Suddenly, he remembered his purpose here. He furrowed his eyebrows and his small smile died.

"How many times have I told you not to come here alone?" He yelled like an older brother talking to his little sister. But the truth was that Arianna was older than him by two years. She was eighteen while he was sixteen.

"You nag so much that I wonder if you were meant to be born first." Arianna said lazily.

"I believe I should get an explanation." Logan said not minding.

"I came to catch fish for the market."

"Catch fish when the tide is low. Arianna, they are not coming back. Stop hoping so much." He said in a stern voice.

Sadness loomed over her and her voice was low and deep. "It's quite funny though; how they left without saying anything."

"Yeah but that's in the past now. We have to face the future, hmm."

"You misunderstood, brother. I did not know the tide would be low." Arianna said.

"Either ways." He replied.

She nodded and raised her head and her cheerfulness returned immediately. "Let's see if we can still catch some crabs, I also want to pick some flowers..."

All of a sudden, the formerly quiet waves started overlapping and forming huge waves cutting her short.

The sky turned gloomy in an instant and the initially calm wind blew ferociously. Small waves formed big waves. Big waves formed huge waves. And the huge waves clashed violently with the beach. There was a sharp, ear-splitting scream. Lightning crackled and the sky thundered. At the horizon, it seemed that a tsunami had formed.

At the sight of this, Arianna and Logan immediately withdrew to the surrounding forest. They ran deep into the forest and crawled into a cave.

The waves became more violent with every second, and for a moment, it felt like the waves were going to devour the entire beach.

Fortunately, it only lasted for a minute before everything came to a calm like nothing had happened. The waves receded back to its silence and there wasn't wind anymore. The sky had become clear.

Logan and Arianna came out of hiding and Arianna walked to the water. She dipped her fingers in it. It was so calm.

A few moments ago, she had thought that some magical being had risen and would destroy them, but at the thought of the magical beings that ruled over they; humans, she became calm.

Yes, there were other magical beings and they were considered the weakest. There were demons, witches, vampires, fairies, goblins, werewolves, zombies; innumerable races. But they were considered the weakest and most unintelligent by the other races.

Even zombies thought they were unintelligent. Arianna scoffed.

Arianna did not believe humans had no potential but who was she to voice her opinions. If she did, she would immediately be killed by a demon.

Demons hated humans more than almost anything and she couldn't understand why.

"Arianna, move away!" Logan yelled but Arianna ignored him. A while ago he had been too panic-stricken to move a muscle, but now that his senses had finally reacted, he was ordering her.

"Arianna, are you deaf?! I said move away!" he barked.

Arianna rolled her eyes and stood on her feet.

"Logan stop telling me what to do." She spun and saw something. On closer look, it looked like a person lying on the beach.

"We are going now!"

"Hey! Look over there, it looks like someone is there." she said and ran off to the body.

'This girl!' Logan thought within himself and chased after her.

She knelt in front of the unconscious man and felt his pulse and examined his heartbeat. He was still alive but it looked like he had come out of the water when the waves were turbulent.

She swept his hair off his face and looked at him. Her heart skipped a beat. Gosh, he was way too handsome. Too handsome. When she looked at him, she felt like only beauty itself could defeat his looks.

He had a smooth forehead. His eyes were drawn into two straight symmetrical lines which curved slightly at its end due to his unconsciousness. His nose was tall and was freckled. His lips were thin, red in color and was sexy. He had a chiseled jawline and his neckline was slim. He looked dignified, noble and elegant. His grace seemed to be deep-seated within his bones and it was exuded even while he was unconscious. He was in one single word; Charming.

"Stop drooling over him," Logan snapped. She turned her head and gave him the look that said 'shut up' but he continued. "He is a demon. We must leave quickly."

"Leave? This man is clearly dying and you want us to leave." Arianna said.

"He will bring us misfortune."

"He will not."

"There are things we do not have power over Arianna. He is a powerful demon. Someone will come to find him."

"What if noone comes?"

"That would not be our business anyways."

"You're harsh!"

"They do not care about us. Why should we care about them?"

"Logan, this man needs food and rest, we have to take him back."

"Are you smitten by him? There is a huge forest behind us, when he wakes up, he'll find food for himself and locate his way home. How do you want to carry a man_this big, home without being noticed?!" Logan exclaimed. Arianna hesitated.

She didn't know why she couldn't leave this man behind. The man's eyes fluttered open and he said two words in a weak voice before he fainted again.

"Help me"

"We must help this man. It will bring us fortune. I can feel it." She said with an air of finality and Logan knew he dare not oppose her.

She looked towards the horizon. She knew housing this man would not be an easy task since he had such a powerful aura. She didn't know what the future held for them but somehow she had a little faith.
