Chapter 459: Communication

Most Psychic-type Pokémon and regular Pokémon are quite different in their preferences. Psychic-types don't like to wander around; instead, they prefer peaceful meditation, so they don't require a large living space.

That's why Pokémon like Medidite, the Natus, and Gardevoir, who are Psychic-types, usually reside in the main Ecopark. The mischievous Kirlia is also kept there under supervision.

To keep an eye on Psychic-type Pokémon, you have to rely on other Psychic-type Pokémon, as their peculiar abilities make it difficult for regular Pokémon to handle them.

However, Yuga hadn't granted Kirlia the freedom to come and go from the Ecopark. Hence, despite its exceptional Teleport abilities, it could only move around within the main Ecopark, under the watchful eyes of Medidite and the Natus.

During the journey to the main Ecopark, Yuga learned from Chatot what had transpired with Kirlia's recent antics.

It turned out that the Bagon's egg that Yuga had taken from Butler was about to hatch. Kirlia had discovered this and attempted to steal it quietly. Unfortunately, it was spotted by the Natus assigned to watch over it.

Pokémon of the Dragon-type, like Bagon, typically had longer incubation periods compared to other Pokémon. Therefore, since Yuga had obtained it, there had been no signs of it hatching. Consequently, it had been placed under the weather tree in the main Ecopark, where Yuga usually kept his Pokémon eggs.

The Natus had built their nests in the weather tree of the main Ecopark. Having them as guardians, Yuga hadn't been overly concerned.

These Natus were specially trained to gather information and monitor enemy activities. Therefore, with them keeping an eye on Kirlia, Yuga hadn't been particularly worried. It was just unexpected that even in the presence of these adept guardians, Kirlia, with its incredible Teleport skills, had managed to cause trouble.

Upon arriving at the main Ecopark, Yuga witnessed Medidite and the Natus surrounding the mischievous Kirlia, collectively using their psychic abilities to block its Teleport.

This Kirlia was actually more powerful than Medidite and the Natus in Yuga's Ecopark. That's why it had succeeded in stealing the Bagon's egg, even under close surveillance.

"Kirlia, what do you want? You should know you can't leave this place," Yuga said, standing behind Medidite and the others and addressing the cornered Kirlia.

Seeing Yuga's arrival, Kirlia tightened its grip on the Bagon's egg, its eyes filled with anger.

Seeing Kirlia silent, Yuga continued, "Causing trouble like this isn't good for the Bagon. If something unexpected happens during the struggle, you'll probably regret it more than I will."

"Kirlia, Kirlia..."

At this point, Kirlia began to cry out, but Yuga understood the meaning in its cries quite clearly.

Its general meaning is that Yuga killed its owner, then sold the mother of the Bagon, so he doesn't deserve to own the Bagon.

Yuga was somewhat surprised that he could understand the meaning conveyed in Kirlia's cries, and he could be certain that this Kirlia couldn't have had telepathic abilities. Therefore, the reason he could do this lay clearly in his special ability.

Mr. Kuni'o had told him that as his special ability grew stronger, he would naturally come to understand how to heal and communicate with Pokémon. So, he had never interrupted his training of his special ability.

Today, the results of Yuga's training were finally showing.

This special method of communication didn't mean that Yuga had suddenly learned the language of the Pokémon. Instead, he acquired the approximate meaning of the Pokémon's language through his special ability. Therefore, this kind of communication wasn't linguistic but rather a form of spiritual communication.

Yuga guessed that the reason their special ability made it easy for Pokémon to approach them was probably because Pokémon could easily sense whether they harbored ill intentions. As long as their hearts held no ill will, Pokémon would naturally be willing to approach them.

"Do you think all the blame for this lies with me?" Yuga asked in return.

Of course not!

After all, as a participant in these events, Kirlia was well aware that the main reason things had developed to this point was due to the actions of its two former owners. If they hadn't repeatedly provoked Yuga, they wouldn't be in this situation. Their deaths were a result of their own greed.

However many faults its owners may have had, they were still its owners, the ones who had worked tirelessly to raise it from a mere Ralts to a Kirlia. Now, asking it to let go of all its hatred was something it couldn't do.

Seeing Kirlia remain silent, Yuga understood that it probably grasped the concept of right and wrong but was too fixated on the bond between itself and its trainers.

Yet, Yuga was acutely aware that the bond Kirlia clung to was one-sided.

Initially, Butler had easily abandoned his own Pokémon, such as his Salamence, Houndoom, and Dusclops. Even when Genos had come to retrieve his Groudon's body fragment, he hadn't considered reclaiming his three Pokémon.

So, Yuga didn't believe that Kirlia was particularly special to Butler. If Kirlia found itself in a situation similar to that of Salamence and the others, its fate would likely be the same.

Just as Yuga's words began to waver Kirlia's determination, Gengar suddenly emerged from Yuga's shadow. In an instant, it appeared above Kirlia's head and used its psychic power to snatch the Bagon's egg back from Kirlia's grasp.

With a triumphant grin, Gengar returned to Yuga's side, clutching the Pokémon egg.

Seeing the egg taken from its arms, Kirlia trembled with anger, its eyes reddening. It glared at Yuga with fury, and then, its body emitted the glow of evolution.

Evolving?

Observing the changes happening to Kirlia's body, Yuga was left a bit bewildered.

If he recalled correctly, this Kirlia was male, right? It had evolved without the use of an Awakening Stone, which meant it was about to become... a cross-dressing beauty.

When the light of evolution dissipated, before Yuga stood a graceful male Gardevoir, with fair skin, a beautiful face, and long, slender legs.

...

<<Gardevoir>>

Type: Psychic/Fairy

Ability: Synchronize

Gender: Male

Potential: Green

Level: 46

Moves: Confusion, Double Team, Teleport, Magical Leaf, Psychic, Moonblast, Wonder Room.

...

Oh my! It really turned into a cross-dressing beauty!

Looking at the stunning male Gardevoir before him, Yuga couldn't help but marvel.

Perhaps because it excelled so much at Teleport, this Gardevoir, who was already over level 40, didn't know many moves.

Immediately after evolving, Gardevoir attempted to use Teleport to escape from the encirclement and launch an attack on Yuga. However, it was quite evident that it couldn't succeed.

Even though the Psychic-type Pokémon surrounding it were weaker individually, they numbered nearly thirty, and when Gardevoir attempted to teleport, they were all repelled by the combined psychic barriers set up by Medidite and the Natus.
