Chapter 5: Chapter 4
''DAD!'' screamed Noah in despair.
All of them were completely petrified and couldn't do anything but hope this was somehow all a bad prank. But there was no prank.
Blood was dripping from their father's body and their mom got up, trying to find a way to save the situation.
''H-Honey… Please tell me it's all one of your bad pranks. Stop it now, you're going too far.''
As she tried to reach the glowing hand still holding on the dead man, it started moving and the rest of the body appeared.
The monster's appearance could make anyone faint. It had around ten deep eyes, its teeth were as sharp as blades and was 2 meters tall. The long claws on its hands could impale someone easily.
With its other hand, it didn't hesitate to slash the mom and Sasha screamed.
It was all a bad nightmare. She would wake up crying and would call a friend. How could a night like that turn from the best to the worst? It wasn't possible. Monsters weren't even real. She couldn't face the reality she was living in and started crying, helpless. His brothers were also under the shock, but Lucas still tried to escape.
He ran toward the window but the long arm catched him and the poor kid got teared up into many body pieces.
As Sasha was crying uncontrollably, she tried to take Noah and Finn to protect them. It was the last thing she could do. She looked at the tall creature's face and her heart sank even deeper.
It was smiling. This horrifying monster was having fun slaughtering everyone.
A second later, her two last brothers got slaughtered too. She was the only one left alive, the oldest sister who couldn't even protect her family. Blood was dripping off her hands and she started drowning into despair and guilt.
She thought, at least if she dies, she would join them and they could finally be happy. She was scared, she couldn't stop crying and her body didn't have any strength left, but she accepted her fate.
As the arm lifted up in the air and Sasha waited for her death, a sudden event changed everything.
The monster looked behind it and Sasha opened her eyes. She couldn't believe it.
There, looking terrorized and exhausted, Yuri was standing in front of it. He was holding a baseball bat in his hands and wearing a mask. Why was he here? To save her? He should be saving his own life right now. She wanted to yell at him but couldn't talk, too frightened.
The young man walked toward the white creature and shouted.
But he, a simple human, was fighting against an unknown and cruel creature. He had no chance to win against it.
In less than a second, he sent Yuri flying all the way to the living room, next to Sasha.
He was left unconscious and blood was dripping from his right eye, where he got hit. Sasha looked at him and felt like giving up on everything. He was dead because of her. Multiple deaths were rapidly crawling on her shoulders and she couldn't bear it anymore. In a last sob, she closed her eyes and wished for everything to end once and for all.
Then, out of nowhere, like the entire world refused her death, a third blast for the night could be heard. Like thunder falling from the sky, a red silhouette ran fastly toward the deformed monster. She couldn't see what happened next, since her vision got blurry. She then passed out.

When I blacked out, I had a dream. It was a weird dream, since I saw people I had never met before. In this dream, I was with Sasha, but she looked a lot older. There was also a tall man, a little girl who seemed like his little sister, a blond boy and another man wearing red clothes and a hat. We were all having a nice time, but I would bicker with the red one from time to time. It seemed like we all knew each other and we were happy.
For some reason, I felt as if those were memories of a distant past. A past I didn't know of.
In that dream, the tall man looked at me and said something. Then I woke up.
My vision was all blurry. I felt as if my head would split in half and a sharp pain arose from my right eye. What was going on? Where was I?
I got up and looked around. I was lying on a hard and cold ground. The place had cars parked all around and the walls were broken. That was probably an abandoned underground parking spot.
As I was wondering what was happening, I suddenly remembered the situation I was in. How much time has it been? Was Sasha safely rescued? I didn't even know where to start and my thoughts were unorganized. I took a few deep breaths and held my eye.
But instead of my skin and eye, I felt a soft feeling, like a bandage. I looked at my hand and saw a bit of blood. My heart missed a beat. What in the world happened back there?
Suddenly, I really wanted to get up and find Sasha, but as soon as I lifted up my legs, an unknown hand blocked my way.
''Wow lil' mister, wait a sec.''
I looked at the person in front of me.
It was a young, small and adorable looking girl. She was at most 14 years old. Her skin was dark and her black hair was falling down to her back. Being this young in this world was incredible. I could already tell she was strong. Her big eyes were staring at me, and I made a small gasp. She was the little girl in my dream.
''Who are you?'' I asked, not sure how to react.
''That's what I would like to ask you, lil' mister. We found you and that blond girl unconscious inside a destroyed house. It's been a week since then, mister.''
I looked at my surroundings. Sasha couldn't be found anywhere.
''Blond girl?? Where is she right now? How is it been a whole week already???'' It would be a lie to say I wasn't looking insane right now.
But the little girl didn't lose her composure like me, and calmly responded to all my questions.
''She woke up 3 days before you and decided to stay with us... Although she doesn't seem mentally well. She spends all her time alone staring at nothing. Now about you. You were attacked by a Brillante… ah, it's the monster you were attacked by 'brillante' literally means 'glowing' in spanish. I chose it. Anyways, when you got hit by the Brillante, it infected you and your body had to go into a recovery process. You might want a mirror too.''
These were all weird informations. A 'Brillante', infection.. I wasn't gonna die from it, right?
I was reassured by Sasha's safety, but I was scared for her mental health. I didn't know how to face her, once I would've too. This thought made me feel sick to my stomach.
I shook my head to change my thoughts and asked for a mirror, as I was curious for what she meant. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect and the answer left me speechless.
''Huh…''
My normally black hair was now a bright green. The type of green only crazy people would choose as a hair color. Was it a side effect of the infection she mentioned?
The little girl next to me started laughing loudly, holding her stomach. I swear I could see a few tears falling down her cheeks.
After a few minutes, she finally calmed down and apologized. I was having mixed feelings.
''Ah, I'm sorry lil' mister. I shouldn't be laughing. My brother said you looked cool, though.''
I sighed. She looked genuinely sorry for making fun of me and an awkward silence filled the place.
Then, she looked at me again and asked:
''By the way, lil' mister. What's your name? Mine is Lilianne and I have a big brother, Jay.''
''Nice to meet you Lilianne. My name is Yuri. The blond girl is named Sasha.''
She smiled at me and told me she would go tell her brother about my recovery.
I waited in silence, staring at the car in front of me. Then the thoughts I was trying to avoid came back to bother me. But I couldn't avoid them anymore. I had to make up my mind. This world had ended, and I would now have to survive with those guys. I didn't know why and how I had this dream, but to not worry anyone, I decided to not tell anyone.
Lilianne and Jay were good people. They saved 2 strangers when they were probably struggling already.
In this moment of deep thoughts, I swore to myself to get stronger and protect them.
