Chapter 24: Chapter 24

"Well. Someone's mommy didn't teach him not to mess with the yakuza."

The gangster stood up after they heard Sam's offer of sparing them in exchange for them leading him to their boss.

Some were amused by his offer. Some were enraged by his guts to threaten them. But what they had in common was the determination in their eyes, which indicated their desire to teach him a lesson.

Sam shot them a cold glare. "I'll have you know, I'm not going to show any mercy."

"Kid. Just shut the fuck up."

One of them unsheathed his sword, raised his sword high, and jumped at Sam.

'I give his swordsmanship 3 levels.'

Because his speed and attack speed were way higher than 5 times that of a normal human, Sam didn't find it troublesome to deal with him.

He took a step forward and thrust forward, stabbing the gangster with the grip of his sword. It sent him flying away, forcing him to puke.

[+50 XP]

Sam was quite surprised by his new strength. He was way above a normal human. But again, he was level 14. With 17 points in Strength and 19 in Agility, he could be considered a little fiend.

"If he's lucky. He'll survive," Sam said, pointing to the man who had fallen and was struggling to breathe. "But do you have this kind of luck? Let's find out."

"Let's see how you deal with all of us. Surround him."

They circled around him, unsheathing their swords and holding their katanas up. They then dashed at him, from every direction. Because of his superior level in swordsmanship, Sam could see the flaws in their approach. Still, he had to give them credit for their courage and strategy.

He unsheathed his sword and waved it while turning. The swords were cut by his exceptionally sharp sword. That earned surprise from them.

Sam suddenly felt something penetrate his ribs. Quickly, he turned his hand and held it by the grip before it could go even deeper.

[-40 HP]

It was a knife. That was weird. None of the men that surrounded him had a knife. Confused, he wondered why it didn't take much of his HP since it caught a vital part. A strike like this would have been lethal to him in the past. But because of his Strength Points, he had more HP. Meaning he was more durable.

'Don't tell me that I'm like Dante.'

[HP 210/250]

He took the knife out. No bleeding followed that.

"He's a devil."

"Run for your life."

He then turned his head. There was one short guy who had thrown that knife.

In this world, there were some humans with enough skills to be more dangerous than devils.

When their eyes met, the knife thrower took more knives and threw them at him.

"You're skilled, I'll give you that." Sam flipped his sword. Before the knives could reach him, he vanished and appeared behind the knife thrower, wrapping his blade around his neck.

"You know. My momma used to say when we used to hunt." Sam let his mouth close to the man's ear. "Never let the animal suffer."

Cold sweat drops accumulated on the man's forehead. "Sir. Please. I was just kidding. I didn't mean to harm you."

"Just kidding? What kind of scumbags you are to have such a sense of humor," Sam smiled. He actually started to like this man's sense of humor. "You know what. You'll lead me to the Samurai Sword."

"But if I lead you to him, I'll get killed."

"Don't worry. You'll get killed by my hand if you don't do as I say. But let me show you that there are things worse than death." Sam put his hand on the man's neck. It was surprising how easily he could lift him, before slamming him to the ground.

His face got completely covered in blood.

Sam flipped the man on his back. He then looked at him, he who was about to lose awareness.

"Did I say you're allowed to sleep?" Sam put his finger on the man's rib, and he pushed forward with all of his might, breaking the rib and penetrating it.

"Waaa!" The man woke up from his dizzy state and screamed.

"You know. I used to sleep in the biology class. I don't know how many ribs humans have. But they are plenty." Sam drew a sadistic smile as he put his finger on another rib.

"Stop. Please." The man yelled. The pain wouldn't even allow him to fall unconscious. Sam wouldn't. "I'll take you to him."

"That's a good boy." Sam smiled. He lifted him from his shoulder, and he said. "Guide me to your boss."

"He's there. Recovering after a surgery in that building." He pointed to a ten-story building. Sam then let the guy drop. He turned his head to the remaining mob, who gave him a cautious glare.

"Now that I got what I need from you guys." He spun his sword. "It's time for me to do the people who pay taxes, and thus my salary, justice."

"Justice?" one of them said with a confused look. "You're a monster, worse than us."

"You're right."

For the next ten minutes, Sam spent it kicking everyone's ass. He didn't leave anyone without breaking a bone or two.

The last thing he wanted was for these guys to bring some gun and shoot him in the back while he was collecting his rightful experience.

He looked at the ten-story building.

"Time for a Samurai Fightu."

He put his sword in his sheath, and he walked in the building. Immediately, he was alerted to the existence of the devil. When he examined that feeling, it was more of the existence of a part of a devil that was here.

[Ding. A Mission triggered.]

[Samurai Fight.

Bring the heart of the Katana Devil.

Rewards:

20,000 XP.

+3 levels in swordsmanship]

'Am I really going to kill a living human…' Sam pondered. When he remembered that Himeno's life was on the line, Power probably, he furrowed his eyebrows. "Well.  Nature is just nature."
