"Wow", He said as he felt the transformation that had taken place in his body.
As the pain subsided, he threw another look at the massive oasis. He swam to the bank of the oasis and tried to go back in to see what kind of skill he would get this time. 'Much to his surprise', there was a transparent barrier that restricted him from going back in.

He threw on a new pair of beginner clothing from the inventory and refilled his water pouch. After which he headed back to the village. He arrived at the village a couple minutes later.

He found a small abandoned hut in the middle of the cluster of huts and decided to rest there. He then remembered the system notif that stated that he had received a skill and an ability.
He went on and opened the status bar.

He went ahead and opened the skills bar and was utterly surprised by what met his eyes.

"How many times have I said wow today? Although this skill might look trashy it might prove to be helpful in dire situations."
He then seemed to have remembered something and opened the Player Stats bar and confirmed his suspicions.
"I evolved?"
Evolving was the term used when a player had accumulated enough stat points and broken through to the next rank.
In this game Fate Online, the player's levels were defined by their ranks. Which were divided into 5, A to E. A being the highest and E being the lowest. Which were then divided into two grades high and low. This ranks were defined by the overall stats of the player which ranged from 1 to 10.
E: 1-2.9 (Low E: 1-1.9, High E: 2-2.9)
D: 3-4.9 (Low D: 3-3.9, High D: 4-4.9)
C: 5-6.9 (Low C: 5-5.9, High C: 6-6.9)
B: 7-8.9 (Low B: 7-7.9, High C: 8-8.9)
A: 9-10
Originally, Cole had been a High E rank with the Overall Stats of 2.0 but he then directly evolved to the High D rank 3.0 Overall Stats. Although his rank was still low, he had directly skipped the process that would take other players months. On an average scale most people were usually C Ranks based on their actual real life physiques. While the game was really good, it allowed people to experience pain and all emotions. The game was so realistic that if the it's developers had not designed time restrictions, some people would even make it their home.
Here you could feel, touch and even hunger. Even though the characters were unmodifiable, the game tried to balance out players' physiques by aligning them near the average C Rank. So because he is plump and short in real life, the game registered him as a High E rank.
His Charm Stat was as low as it could get.
After the Oasis of Light evolved him, he could actually notice some changes in his character's body. He had gotten slightly taller and was around 5'7 now. That came as a shock given the height he had before of 5'3.
His eyes registered changes that had appeared on his stomach where there was a slight abs formation.
He took in a deep breath and sighed in excitement as he then went ahead to open his Abilities section in the Status Bar.

Even though he was pretty excited Cole knew that this wasn't real life and his mother was bound to punish him hard if he extended his game time past his sleep time curfew. Cole then proceeded to log out when something unexpected happened.
