Chapter 13: My Dokodemo Door

Ken made his way back home, and upon arriving, his mother greeted him with, "Welcome home, Ken-chan. Did you have a good day?"

"I did," Ken nodded happily. He then joined his mother for dinner. Afterward, he hurried to his room to inspect his system.

In his room, it was dark as Ken had already turned off the lights. It was night, and he was supposed to sleep, but Ken wasn't in a hurry. He said, "System Panel."

I nodded, feeling satisfied. Everything looked good.

I wondered how to take out the dokodemodor from my inventory. Maybe I should try thinking something like, "Take the dokodemodor out of the inventory."

As I thought that nothing would happen, a door-shaped object suddenly materialized in front of me.

"It worked," I smiled happily. I examined the dokodemodor and noticed that its appearance was significantly different from Doraemon's pinkish Dokodemodor.

Mine was shining black, and the door knob was colored gold. A door sign displayed Ken's current house address, including his room. The door sign seemed to show the address of its current location, easily guessable.

The door's shape resembled Doraemon's dokodemodor, although mine was slightly taller.

Well, it's not bad. The door looked quite luxurious.

It exuded an air of elegance.

Indeed, this dokodemodor looked different.

Let's observe and test it out. I opened the door and visualized the location in my mind, successfully unlocking it.

After successfully opening the door, I stood still in astonishment.

A gust of wind blew against my face, causing my hair to flutter as I fixed my gaze on the breathtaking scenery ahead.

On the other side of the door lay a beautiful place.

So magnificent. The vast grasslands and the expansive blue sky were truly captivating. The scene before me evoked a strong sense of nostalgia.

The grass in the fields danced as they swayed in the wind.

It's so nostalgic.

Why? Because this place had once been the wallpaper on my previous computer, in my past life.

Yes, it was the default wallpaper of Windows XP. However, that wallpaper was inspired by a real-life location. I had been there a few years ago when I was in the States. The sight had left me speechless at the time, worrying my parents about my sudden daze.

Only then did I realize that Windows XP's wallpaper was based on real locations, specifically in The Los Carneros American Viticultural Area of California's Wine Country.

And gazing upon such a nostalgic place always left me stupefied from time to time. My amazement wasn't just due to that, but also the power of the dokodemodor. I had never thought much of this tool from cartoons, even if it could transport to various places. I had only imagined its convenience, dismissing it as a mere cartoon. But now, holding this incredible tool in my hand was both bewildering and enthralling.

I smiled in satisfaction once again.

On the other side of the door, a person from the grassland was walking across the field and spotted a peculiar door standing in the middle.

"What's that?"

The person approached, looking closer and soon grew frightened. What he saw sent shivers down his spine.

"AH! A... a ghost! An alien! Alien ghost!" The person shrieked, terror evident in his voice.

He fell back as he noticed the door was black and had a seemingly ominous appearance. On the other side of the door stood a 10-year-old child, smiling faintly in a rather dark space.

...

I was abruptly jolted by a terrified voice that echoed in the distance. The volume was so intense that it penetrated both my room and my consciousness. Thankfully, our house was spacious; otherwise, the neighbors or my parents might have already barged into my room.

Turning my attention to the source of the voice, I saw a middle-aged person in farmer's attire gazing at me with an expression of fear. He was mumbling in English. Helpless due to my own oversight, the middle-aged farmer suddenly exclaimed, "I'll... I'll shoot you! Let me get my gun!"

What!? I exclaimed in my mind.

The middle-aged farmer rose to his feet and hastily fled.

"No need to go any further, dude," I wanted to shout back, but it seemed the person had no intention of listening. I quickly closed the dokomedoor and it vanished from the grassy landscape.

As the man reappeared with a shotgun, there was no one in sight. He couldn't help but scratch his head. "Where is the alien ghost!?"
