Chapter 3: Inventions

In the room full of books, where there lies calmness and zero disturbance, humans seek food for their brains. This knowledge tempers the minds to be better, to know things that have never been known before. That's what Alorian is looking for right now, at the age of twelve, he is curious about this world, about his lineage histories.

Alorian stood in front of the massive bookshelf, confused about what book he should read first. He never went to the library for a read because he had always been kicked out. Appeared like a hobo that irritated the other seekers of knowledge. That's his life before and now he is roaming in this area freely without being ostracized.

"May I assist you, Young Master?" the voice of a woman startled him.

As Alorian turned his head to his right side, there was a woman with her brown hair, tied like a horse's tail. Her wide smile offered a sociable demeanor, bowed a little bit forward, and indicated the medium well-rounded bosom that was covered by her tight librarian attire. Alorian was caught in astonishment, she indeed had a nice shape.

"Co-could you find me some history books?" he stuttered and scratched his cheek with his finger.

"Ah, so Young Master wants to know our kingdom, isn't it correct?" she straightened her shape, her both hands held each other in front – a little bit nervous.

"Yes, and the others as well," he remarked with an awkward smile. "If it's available here, there is."

Unexpectedly, that woman chuckled with a melodious voice, a bit cute as what Alorian thought. After she finished her laugh, the woman uttered, "Oh, Young Master, you are so humorous. We have all the books you need to know here."

"Do you want to come with me?" she asked before she took steps. "Or do you want to hold off in the reading room?"

"No, I will come with you," he replied and his smile was so adorable, it almost made the librarian blush. "Can I?"

"Yes, of course, Young Master," she beamed, her expression cheered as she walked. "Follow me."

Alorian didn't waste any time and followed closely behind the woman. He gazed around in sheer amazement. Bookshelves were scattered everywhere, elegantly arranged in a flowing, wave-like pattern that rose to the ceiling. The minimalist interior design blended seamlessly with the environment, creating a space that encouraged a singular focus on the books.

Every so often, Alorian's eyes would drift forward, unable to ignore the captivating presence of the librarian, especially from behind. She wore nothing more than a knee-length black skirt that accentuated her well-defined curves, leaving Alorian feeling a flush of embarrassment. Hastily, he closed his eyes and turned away.

Unbeknownst to him, the woman abruptly halted and stooped down to tidy up a disheveled stack of books on a lower shelf. When Alorian turned back to the front, his face met the librarian's backside, resulting in an unexpected tumble to the floor with her.

For a moment, the woman let out a startled exclamation as she tripped, drawing the gaze of a few other patrons who had been engrossed in their books. Alorian landed squarely against her, and she could feel the force of the impact.

Aware of his blunder and the acute shame of the situation, Alorian quickly got to his feet and bowed deeply, offering a heartfelt apology. "I'm so sorry! It was completely unintentional!"

The woman remained silent, her face flushed crimson. The librarian, recovering her stillness, stood up and leaned forward to peer through the narrow gaps between the bookshelves.

The other patrons in the reading area appeared curious and somewhat uneasy due to the librarian's unexpected outburst. However, the interruption was brief, and they soon returned to their books.

With a long exhale, the librarian knelt before Alorian, the prospective heir of Caeloria. "It's all right, Young Master. I believe you didn't intend to do it." The brown-haired woman reassured him. "We still need to find the book you're looking for."

Summoning his courage, Alorian raised his head and stood up, his eyes fixed on the librarian, who managed a forced smile. "Miss, would you please forgive me?" Alorian uttered, his voice laced with genuine remorse.

The woman before him appeared not much older, likely in her twenties, a young lady with a charming countenance. She still retained a rosy blush as she replied, "Young Master, anything you say is forgiven. It was a minor accident; there's no need for you to be overly concerned."

Still grappling with embarrassment, Alorian made an effort to regain his composure. He took a deep breath and nodded, acknowledging the woman who was adjusting her slightly disheveled attire.

"Thanks," Alorian whispered, looking up at the librarian.

"Your welcome, Young Master. If you'll excuse me, please follow me," she said, turning and leading the way. Alorian trailed behind but found it hard to resist the occasional temptation to look ahead.

As they ventured deeper into the library, Alorian noticed the sparse presence of other individuals. The place felt like it existed in a world of its own, with an ancient and almost mystical atmosphere. It was as though magic saturated the air.

Alorian's gaze darted in various directions, and he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the vastness of knowledge contained within the labyrinth of books, making him realize just how small and uninformed he was about the world of Nisiar.

Perusing the distinct shelves above, which emphasized her curvaceous silhouette, Alorian remained transfixed, his gaze eagerly awaited the book the woman was trying to retrieve. The number of books she gathered became a blur, but the collection she amassed was undeniably substantial.

"Here it is," the woman exclaimed as she descended the ladder, which Alorian was diligently holding to ensure her safety. "All the books you're looking for, Young Master."

The child gasped and widened his eyes as he counted at least nine thick books in the librarian's hands. "A lot of them?"

"Yes," the woman replied, her neck glistening with sweat as she brushed damp hair behind her ears. "Allow me to arrange these books over there."

Without a word, Alorian moved to a secluded spot, securing his privacy. Comfortably seated, he delved into the books before him, captivated by a volume titled "Inventions that Changed the World" adorned with a sleek and understated red cover.

"If you need any assistance, I'll be in the side room," the librarian offered with a courteous bow.

"May I inquire about your name?" Alorian questioned, his curiosity piqued.

"Rosanie, Young Master," she replied, swiftly regaining her poise after her bow.

"Thanks a lot, Rosanie. You may go now," the young aristocrat stated, prompting Rosanie to withdraw from the area.

Caeloria, the kingdom ruled by his father, had spearheaded these ingenious breakthroughs. They were not merely innovations; they represented a transformative shift towards a better, more convenient way of life for society at large.

Their groundbreaking advancements in the automotive industry and the introduction of highly efficient tools significantly lightened the burden of human labor.

This surge in progress had ignited an increased demand for natural resources, an essential component not readily available in abundant supply. This circumstance laid the groundwork for the potential unification under an imperial banner – a collective endeavor to collaborate and advance the march of progress.

Fueled by these innovative strides, the empire found itself during a revolution, bolstering its military, strengthening its economic standing, and propelling its industrial sectors forward. However, this impressive advancement was not without its shades, as Caeloria, the very source of this progress, cast a looming shadow over the empire's achievements.

Nonetheless, numerous other kingdoms recognized this as a golden opportunity to boost their standing as potential future empires. They aimed to fortify their realms and showcase their might during a conference held in Unitedland.

Unitedland, in itself, served as the paramount gathering place for all kingdom leaders to deliberate on matters concerning inter-kingdom relations. This ensured that the empire maintained a sense of order and control, preventing any wild or unruly behavior.

"So, this is what Mother was talking about," Alorian mused as he continued to concentrate on the document. "The tradition of trials is meant to prepare the future heir for this very purpose."

"The empire certainly doesn't want to lag behind in this refinement," he pondered, placing his right hand under his chin as he thought. "It's intriguing; I can see the conflict more clearly now."

"But I still need to understand what the rest of the world looks like," he said, gazing out of the window where the sunlight streamed in. "I need to know Father's perspective on them."

As he turned to his side, the sudden appearance of a blonde-haired girl startled him. He tumbled backward, his chair overturning in the process. She smiled and chuckled, observing her brother as he tried to regain his footing despite his discomfort. She had a nerdy appearance with a stack of books in her hands and oval glasses perched on her face.

"Fiona! What on earth are you doing here?"
