Chapter 25: Chapter-25
"What do you mea—" Naruto's anger shifted to confusion and fear as he heard the last part, before feeling the biju's claws on his forehead.
"That failure," the Kyubi replied coldly. It placed all the lost memories back into Naruto's mind, and a dark smile formed on the tailed beast's face, conjuring a torrent of images before the boy's eyes. Naruto fell to his knees, clutching his head, lost in the flood of memories.
"What would you know about how I feel?! You were alone from the beginning! You don't know what it feels like to lose everything!"
"I don't care if I have to sell my soul to Orochimaru, as long as I get the power necessary to kill him..."
"...this is the end of the road…"
"¡NARUTO!"
With his head bowed and on his knees, Naruto trembled uncontrollably. Had he gone to rescue Sasuke? What had happened to Choji, Neji, Kiba, Akamaru, Rock Lee, and Shikamaru? Did he really have a near-death battle against Sasuke? Did he really... fail?
"Typical of humans... so weak," Kurama smiled darkly. He could sense the rage, anger, hatred, and frustration growing within his jinchiruki. It seemed only a matter of time before Naruto unleashed his chakra cloak and tails. Once he reached the fourth tail, nothing would stop him from breaking the seal and becoming free, even if it meant the boy's death.
"Why are you doing this to me?!" Naruto's cry shattered the silence. Tears welled up in his eyes as he shouted, "Why does everyone want to see me fail?! Everyone wants me to give up?! What have I done to deserve you?! I didn't ask for you to be sealed inside me!" The blonde yelled so loudly that his throat ached.
"..." The legendary beast was taken aback by the boy's outburst. He hadn't expected Naruto to dare to yell like this.
"I know better than anyone that I'm just a loser! It's been shoved in my face my whole life! Never being adopted! Being insulted! Being hated by the villagers and even my own academy classmates who treated me like I was just garbage!" Standing up, he faced the enormous nine-tailed fox. After taking a deep breath, he continued to vent the rage he had kept compressed for so many years. "As far as I'm concerned, you're just like those stupid villagers!"
"How dare you compare me to those miserable trashes?!" Kurama roared angrily, losing his cool at the comparison to humans he despised. Just thinking about crushing and killing them brought him nothing but happiness.
"Because you have the same look as them!" Naruto wasn't intimidated in the slightest. He looked defiantly into the Biju's red eyes. "You have the same eyes as them, the ones that see me as if I were a nobody, trash that should be thrown away... that they just want to get rid of me, as if I were just a monster..." The blonde's voice gradually weakened as he recalled everything he had endured, especially as a child.
"..." The only response Naruto received was the imposing figure of the Kyubi rising from the ground, standing tall, its nine giant tails swaying from side to side, its eyes gleaming in the darkness of its cage.
"What gives you the right to treat me this way?" the shinobi asked more softly, only to flinch as a powerful gust of air was created by a fierce blow from the tailed beast against the bars with its head.
"What gives me the right?! You think because you only lived a few years in that filthy village surrounded by those miserable hypocrites you can compare what we went through?! And what about us bijus?!" The entire cage trembled at the deafening roar of the beast, its glowing red eyes radiating fury. "We were hated just for existing! I had to watch as my brothers were hunted down and locked up as mere beasts! I was used by Uchiha Madara! He dragged me from the mountain where Jiji's grave was! He tore me from my home and destroyed it! Just to be a puppet and fight that Senju bastard!" The fox roared loudly, surrounded by a red chakra aura that reflected its pure fury.
Naruto fell silent, his expression somber as he witnessed the biju's intense anger.
"Humans don't care in the slightest about others… they only look out for themselves and nothing else…" In a lower tone, the tailed beast growled as it recalled its painful past. "Hashirama didn't hesitate to try and get rid of me, seeing me as a threat. I was locked in that damn Uzumaki, who enjoyed chaining and crucifying me inside her… Do you consider bijus as monsters?" The legendary creature asked with regret, lowering its head to emit a dry, humorless laugh. "When in reality, you are the real monsters…" With that final sentence, the imposing animal crouched down to face Naruto.
A profound silence enveloped the mental space. Neither Naruto nor Kyubi uttered a word, but their expressions conveyed their thoughts. Slowly, Naruto stood up and turned his back on the cage. "Maybe..." He turned around to meet the biju's eyes again. "...but your hatred makes you like them." His silhouette gradually faded as his consciousness returned to reality.
