Chapter 38: Freeing Ace
"Garp!" Sengoku called out to his old comrade, watching as the force of his attack sent Garp flying. He then turned his gaze to Luffy and Bullet, who were charging forward.
"Even you can't escape the love of your children, huh?" Sengoku remarked to Garp.
With a dignified look, Sengoku addressed Luffy and Bullet, shouting in a deep voice, "But as long as I'm here, none of you can save Ace!"
As his words reverberated, a brilliant golden light burst forth, and in an instant, a golden Buddha materialized before them.
"It's Fleet Admiral Sengoku's ability!"
"Great! With the Fleet Admiral here, Straw Hat Luffy can't possibly get through!"
"We must win this battle!"
The Marines below erupted into cheers, their morale bolstered by Sengoku's formidable presence.
But just as Sengoku was about to unleash an attack against Luffy, Bullet sprang into action, positioning himself as a shield in front of Luffy. With his arms imbued with Armament Haki, Bullet delivered a powerful blow against the golden Buddha.
"Bullet!!!"
A flash of anger flickered in Sengoku's eyes. Without hesitation, he raised his massive arms and charged forward.
BOOM!
Their two fists collided, causing purple lightning to crackle at the point of impact. A powerful force erupted, creating a hurricane-like shockwave that swept in all directions. The execution platform buckled under the immense power.
With a resounding click, the platform began to crumble, and Ace was on the verge of falling.
"Ace!!!"
Seizing the moment, Luffy rushed to Ace, who was hanging precariously. Luffy clutched the key provided by Empress Hancock, determined to free his brother.
"Not good!"
Sengoku's face contorted in panic. He raced towards Ace, his fist raised high and ready to strike with overwhelming force.
"I told you, I'm your opponent!"
Once again, Bullet stood between Sengoku and Luffy, thwarting the Fleet Admiral's efforts to attack.
"Damn it!"
Sengoku cursed inwardly. Although he was formidable, Bullet was no pushover. If Bullet remained unchallenged, Luffy would continue to approach Ace.
Recognizing the need to address this threat, Sengoku ceased his resistance against Bullet and turned his full attention to the powerful adversary before him. He launched a mighty attack, generating a thunderous clash of power.
"Bring it on!"
Bullet's expression brimmed with excitement. He had come for a formidable opponent, and facing an Admiral was a thrilling challenge he couldn't pass up.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The fierce battle raged on, with a deafening crash of energy destroying the execution platform.
Amidst the chaos, Luffy deftly unlocked Ace's chains using the key. As the execution platform collapsed, both Ace and Luffy fell amid the swirling dust and smoke.
But then, a clear voice pierced through the haze, shouting, "Luffy, you were always like this, causing trouble everywhere!"
BOOM!
A powerful explosion followed. Fiery flames erupted, piercing through the smoke-filled sky.
In front of everyone's astonished eyes, Ace, engulfed in flames, reached out and grabbed Luffy. Together, they burst through the dissipating smoke.
After hours of intense combat, Ace was successfully rescued!
Marineford initially fell into a hushed silence, but it quickly erupted in enthusiastic cheers.
"Great job!"
"Ace made it out! We did it!"
"Hahaha, not even the Navy Headquarters with its 100,000 Marines could stop us!"
The Whitebeard Pirates and their allies rejoiced.
"Straw Hat, you did it!"
Marco's face lit up with a determined smile as he addressed the gathered pirates:
"Everyone, prepare to cover the retreat of Father and Ace!"
He understood that this was not a time for celebration. The real victory would be in rescuing Ace and safely escaping from Marineford.
"Protect Father!" Jozu bellowed, his veins surging with adrenaline, a surge of boundless power emanating from his body. He swung his fists, sending Marines flying.
"Yeahhh!"
The Whitebeard Pirates quickly regrouped. Swords in hand, they charged forward, overpowering the Marines in their path.
"It's a disgrace that Firefist Ace managed to escape despite the presence of 100,000 Marine soldiers and Shichibukai!" Sengoku's face darkened. He cast a stern gaze at the nearby Admirals and issued a furious command: "Enough playing around! Stop Ace and Straw Hat Luffy!"
He was livid. Garp was not in his right mind and had been knocked away by Luffy. Aokiji and Kizaru, the Admirals, had been careless, seemingly taking it easy.
If Whitebeard and Ace managed to escape, it would be a major blow to Marine's prestige. How would they maintain control over the turbulent New World?
"Yeah~" Kizaru's tone turned tense, and his expression grew serious. He had not taken the situation seriously earlier, holding back his full strength.
However, it was becoming clear that the current situation was more unpredictable than he had imagined. He realized that if he didn't go all out, things might take a disastrous turn.
"It's going to get ugly if this continues!"
Aokiji's unease deepened. "These two bastards!"
Akainu, observing the expressions of his fellow Admirals, grew increasingly frustrated. No wonder things had gone awry earlier. Even with all three Admirals working together, they couldn't defeat Whitebeard. It turned out that it was only he who had given his all, while Aokiji and Kizaru had merely played their roles.
However, Akainu quickly suppressed his anger, realizing that now was not the time for it. They had to stop Ace, or the war would be lost. He dashed forward.
"You two won't get past me!" he shouted angrily. His fiery arm swung down like molten lava, aiming to strike Luffy and Ace with tremendous force.
Dark Hound!
The powerful strike was nearly unstoppable. Ace and Luffy narrowly evaded the lethal blow, but they were still sent flying by the powerful shockwave.
"Magma boy, your opponent is me!" Whitebeard spoke in a low tone. His fist swung sideways, crashing heavily through the air.
BOOM!
The powerful shockwave swept towards Akainu, forcing him to abandon his attack and shift to a defensive stance. Furious at being blocked, Akainu yelled at Aokiji and Kizaru.
"When will you two act?"
He was very unhappy with them. Even now, they hadn't taken the initiative to attack and were still waiting and watching.
As Whitebeard prepared to leave, Aokiji and Kizaru exchanged glances but did not respond. They moved closer to Whitebeard, step by step, their Haki sweeping like a storm. This type of Haki was incredibly terrifying, affecting even the clouds in the sky, which condensed together as if a storm were brewing.
Faced with the escalating situation and loss of control, Aokiji and Kizaru were finally going to give it their all.
