Chapter 3: •Awards•

"Hey, you okay?" Bella asked, distracting me from my deep thoughts.
"Yeah, I'm fine". Being back to school feels good though not too welcoming. Just glad to see the new faces joining us this section.
"So tell me are you ready for your award?" Bella asked.
"Well, that's if Maya lets me have it, she's been a pain in the ass".
"Oh! be open-minded, she's not that great".
"Um, don't forget everything that's been happening and the last competition. Look, she's good and though I don't like her, I am not going to take that from her. Now let's pay attention" I scolded.
Bringing my attention back to my surroundings, my eyes met the king again. So unfair one can be this handsome and pretty at the same time, face like art, his shiny black hair which suited him so well, gorgeous lips, and a height to kill for. His body build is charming and I am guessing he may be 6.8. His body charisma and intimidating personality plus the obvious dark powerful aura, too much to handle. The stunning lady standing beside him is lucky.
A beep from my phone brings me back to reality, how could I have forgotten to leave my phone back at the dorm?' glad it's a message. I quickly pull it out to check it, "Hey bitch don't forget to arrange the things in my dorm when you are done here so I don't kill you". Sighing at my brother's meanness. He hates me so much, my family hates me so much.
Everything was going well in the past, rich family, loving parents, I could always get what I wanted until one day everything changed. Tears betray my eyes remembering the past, I quickly wipe it with my hands so I don't get noticed. Am not gonna break down here.
"Maya Colton" I hear the chancellor call.
Well, it seems she's taking the award this time.
Maya is a genius in science, we both are. It's always been a competition between us since she got here and it turns out we both can't outdo the other and we are the best in the whole school.
We have solved problems higher classes couldn't, so we became teachers favourites, solving arithmetic problems for them.
I don't like her and we are enemies. The worst is, she's a werewolf and I hate all supernatural beings, they are all ruthless and think they can get away from everything using humans as instruments for pleasure and pain. My life is hell now because of them, I lost everything, love and family and I hate them so much for making me live a life of misery.
"Maya" I hear the chancellor again as she scans the hall for her.
"Yes Chancellor"
"Come forward". I could see the disappointment on Bella's face. I know she wishes I received the award but I will have to try harder this session.
"Am sorry you didn't get the award this time" she gave a sad smile.
"Oh don't worry honey, there is always another time, she can have this one but trust me this is her last". I scowled at the now walking Maya towards the stage. It's my third year here and I have received two trophies already though I feel a bit disappointed.
She finally got on stage, receiving her award and soon I was called to receive my second place prize.
Just immediately after the awards, the king left with his entourage while we continued with dinner.
"Can't wait to hug my bed Ali, I am so tired". Bella yawns.
"Me too but I have to go to Andy's dorm first" I muttered back.
"Why? you can see him tomorrow ", she whined, shrugging her shoulders.
"It's important, but I promise I will be back on time Bel".
"Okay" she gives a cute pout. Bella is so cute when she does that. She relies so much on me though it's okay by me but sometimes I feel weird around her, she once gave me a lip peck and I was stunned. I don't know if she's bi but she hasn't ever spoken to me about boys.
Soon the gathering was over as students started leaving the hall. I pull my seat out, standing up to leave, Bella is talking to her classmate.
"Bel I will leave now, so meet you at the dorm." She smiles and nods while I walk away to the demon's den, my brother's dorm.

Walking into my dorm and slumping immediately on the bed, I am so tired that I can't move. Bella was already sleeping peacefully, my hands ached from too much folding of my brother's clothes and cleaning his side of the room. Thank God he wasn't there because I wasn't ready to hear his insulting and mocking words.
My mind drifts to the pretty man I met today. Oh, his lips, I imagine kissing him and I can feel the strange feeling below my belly. I am surprised he has this effect on me as I am hardly interested in people and no man has ever moved me. I am more focused on school and finding a way to run away from my family but my mind can't seem to stop thinking about him. Closing my eyes, I drift into my peaceful sleep.
"Walking amid beautiful flowers, it was a beautiful garden, the peaceful breeze and fresh scented gorgeous different looking flowers and colours.
I tilt my head up, closing my eyes and feeling the flowers with the tips of my fingers as I walk through the garden inhaling and enjoying the peace of nature
"You are here," I heard a sweet voice. opening my eyes, I met her. The stunning woman dressed in a sky blow lace dress, a black shiny long hair with a beautiful smile on her mesmerising face. I smiled back acknowledging her presence as she continued, "A lot is ahead of you, make sure you do not give up, follow your instincts and they will lead you out of all challenges, trust no one and do your best to fight, for it will lead you to your true destiny. Do... not... give... up". She stressed the last sentence and vanished.
"Hello! hello! I called out twice but saw or heard no one, suddenly I was in total darkness.."
I woke up stirring around the bed and my body filled with heat. It was a dream and I saw her again, the same woman. I reached for my phone and checked the time, 12:30 am. Why do I always dream about her at this exact time? I climb down my bed into the bathroom realising I am still in my shoes and uniform. Changing into my PJs, I washed my face and went back to bed in a confused state of mind, drifting back to sleep.
