Chapter 14: •Meeting Her•

{"Maya"}

Thinking back to all that has happened to me lately, I didn't expect I would be here among the sixty girls who made it. Am also thankful to Aliya who is sitting in front of me. After she gave me that locket, I was so surprised and couldn't believe it. Although I didn't need the locket, I was grateful I saw that part of her.

I went to Mrs Brooke and told her what had happened in panic, she simply smiled at me telling me to believe in my destiny of which I didn't understand. She masked my scent again before this dinner and advised me to be careful of the king since he could easily smell anything as nothing can be hidden from him.

So here we are, in this magnificent room donned in beautiful dresses having dinner with the king. My eyes darted at Aliya, I know she's not happy with us being partners though I feel the same, I can't deny the fact I enjoyed her being nice to me on that day. She is gorgeous and cute with her full straight black long hair, her smooth looking skin and sparkly green eyes. She has lovely well carved natural brows and long eyelashes, with her pretty pink lips. She looks stunning in that dress she's wearing.

Though I am taller than she is, she is curvier than I am. I quickly withdrew my eyes as she caught me staring and suddenly the main door swung open. I think it's the king because I can see the same men in black suits walking in and the king following behind. He is indeed beautifully handsome if there is a word like that. I can feel those shivers and butterflies again and now I seem to be feeling my wolf.

"Maya?"

"Yes Lily, you decided to come back to me now?" I asked, not contending my happiness.

"C'mon don't blame me, you know what I am going through"

"Yeah right, not just you Lily. Don't forget we are one" I mindlinked in anger.

"Am sorry Maya, I was just heartbroken after our mate treated us that way and lost it when we were caged. Am sorry I left you so weak".

"It's okay Lily, you know I can't be mad at you for long but what woke you up all of a sudden?"

"Oh yeah, It's that smell again, so fresh and sweet and more importantly I feel peaceful around it. This is the second time I perceived that scent and it's more intoxicating today.

"Yeah, the King just walked in. I believe you already know where we are?"

"Yes, I do". Can you get closer to him Maya, I feel so peaceful around him."

"We will talk about this later, Lily. And hey, don't zone out on me again."

"Sure I won't, have fun Maya, I love you"

"I love you too Lily".

I started munching my food happily, feeling very relieved as dinner was served.

"Are you okay Maya?" Ava asked.

"Yes I am, I was speaking to my wolf". I replied, causing her to gasp in surprise and giving me a quick hug. Since this challenge, Ava has been a little distant but I guess it's the challenge taking a toll on every one of us. I told her about losing my wolf though not the whole story.

"Am happy she's back Maya".

"Thank you," I said smiling at her

So many beautiful faces here as I observe the young beautiful ladies. I wasn't interested in this whole contest but Zexon being Zexon, how could I refuse. Good thing, he came up with beautiful girls, at least they are taking my mind off the little crises I am having with my half brother. He's succeeding in turning these creatures against each other making the humans more vulnerable.

With Xavier's latest report, I have a lot to take care of but am glad he's handling them for now. I trust him a lot and sent Isabel to him to assist so it gets easier for them. Those two are very important to me. Bringing my attention back since everyone is gathered here because of me. As I glanced around, taking in all the beauties, a faint scent hit my nose. It's so fresh and endearing but yet very weak coming from a Wolf and I feel a pull towards it? I am sure, I have perceived it before during the Bloodmoon event but why is it very faint?

Noticing everyone is done with dinner, I motioned to Jack to come over.

"Let the ladies dance," I instructed. He nodded and stepped away, I heard him whispering to a staff on what to do and immediately the music changed into a more classic tango song which changed the atmosphere. Some of the girls started moving their bodies seductively and a few began chatting around. I was amused by the ones that were seeking my attention with their seducing dance moves and after a while, my eyes darted to a gorgeous looking girl sitting quietly alone. Realising that faint scent was coming from her direction, I stood up and made my way to her but the reaction I was getting was confusing, making me more amused. She was so nervous and scared as I got even more closer to her.

I could also feel the panic all over her as I stood behind her, I tapped her on the shoulders causing her to quiver, tilting her head up to me. Those beautiful hazel eyes locked with mine briefly before she looked down immediately in fear, the so much pain in those beautiful eyes sparked a strange feeling inside me. She is very beautiful, if not the most beautiful here, she seemed tall though she was still sitting, pale skin, blonde hair and curvy and the faint scent was increasing becoming intoxicating to me.

Strangely, my wolf is reacting to it. I slowly pulled her up since I noticed she didn't want to stand, probably avoiding me which no woman has ever done before. Am gradually getting fascinated.

I took her wrist and pulled her to the dancefloor as she kept looking down avoiding my face. Come to think of it, she's actually tall and I like that, though hardly meeting my shoulders but only a few women have this height around me. Her wolf is weak too, very weak, no wonder the faint scent. I pulled her closer to me snaking my hands around her waist, she shivered with my action causing a little spark to rise in my body.

I nuzzled her neck inhaling her sweet scent when something else hit me, I couldn't smell her purity. She wasn't a virgin, my wolf immediately growled loudly in my head. He was angry but why? I pushed him back bringing my attention back to her.

What was she doing here if she wasn't a virgin? Zexon will have to pay for this, I mumbled to myself but when I stared into her eyes again, I was lost in them. There was so much pain, anger and confusion in them and then fear which now I am sure it's because she wasn't a virgin and she was scared of my actions. I became so angry but yet I wanted to hold her. She quickly lowered her head down again but I held her chin, tilting her head back up.
