Chapter 24: Eyes On The Prey

Shank's Pov:  For two hours, I continued to drink and the two drunks continued to talk about the different activities that happened around Boomecks island. I learned some interesting details about the island . Like the fact that the island was ruled and governed by business families that had ties with mafia and crime families from the first half of the Grandline and the four blues. The island was also not government affiliated . The crazy part to me was that the world government had actually invited the most influential people that governed the island to a previous Reverie. The people shockingly refused the invite and the months after that refusal, there were numerous raids and assassinations on some important people that were influential on the island. The island residents were in panic and business started to go down on the island to the point people started to leave. Seeing the rapid decline in trading business,which was what the island makes the most profit out of, the island's most influential "called in some favors",according to the drunk man anyways, and two months later, the island and its residents were thriving once again as business boomed. While the residents and other outsiders were curious about the unexpected turn, they were smart enough not to dig into it and chose to mind their business ,although the occasional conspiracy and gossip spread around the local community,it was always eventually dismissed. While not the greatest hub of trading business, Boomecks island was one of the wealthiest islands with a strong economy as it served as a central hot spot for trading and exporting goods. This meant the island had a lot of resources and money which would explain Bjorn's arrival as there was obviously a lot of wealth on this island. The island also didn't bolster a strong military as its influential people seemed more focused on making money through connections instead of brute forcing their way into the world economy. As I finished that line of thought process, I sensed the two extremely drunk men stand up and exit the pub. They wobbled their way out the bar with their sluggish movements. I sensed the other suspicious guy who definitely knew how to use hak,get up and leave the pub a minute after both the drunk men left. I expanded  my observation of haki's range and watched as the man approached the two drunk men. They did not seem to have sensed him as he approached them from behind. He took out what was shaped like a knife and I sensed the use of basic armament haki before he stabbed them both in quick succession.I sensed their fading life force/presence as I focused on the attackers next actions. He went through their pockets and a minute later he dragged  both of their corps to the nearest ally that was empty. He put notes of berries in his pockets before he lit up a cigarette and started to smoke for a couple of seconds. He then put his hands in his pockets and walked out of the alley and started to blend in with the normal citizens like nothing happened. I watched all of this through my observation haki that showed every detail of the man's actions in silence . Ever since I had unlocked future sight and had progressed to seeing ten seconds into the future, I had been focusing on the range and emotion sensing aspect of haki. Both were important in determining who my enemies were on the battlefield. I practiced both aspects to that level that every time i used those aspects of observation haki, the details in what I could sense and feel were at their peak. For example, I can feel all the different range of emotions people in this pub are feeling,from arousal,anger,frustration and depression to feeling of relaxation and calm some people are feeling after drinking and talking to whomever. For my range sensing aspect , I could keenly observe the shape and difference in people no matter their distance from the pub. This island is almost as big as punk hazard and right now , I can sense what every person is doing. Like the bartender who's getting railed in the bathroom of the pub, the doctor who's performing surgery , the couple who live next door who are making out, the couple next to them who are arguing and the farmer who's taking his evening nap.  I can ''see'' and even feel the emotions they are releasing. But luckily for me, observation lets you filter what you see and feel ,so I don't have to feel the constant frustrations that pile up in this pub as the majority are currently projecting. I also don't have to feel or observe the events happening in the bathroom. So I slowly filter out all that useless information being fed to me by my observation haki and focus solely on the attacker who's trying to blend in. I observed him move around different parts of the island , he even went to the market and I sensed him pass by Kenny and Levi who were restocking on supplies and exploring the island at the same time. I did all this while sitting in the pub and sipping on my drink casually like nothing was happening. " The wonders of observation haki ' , I thought amusingly. I kept observing the man's movements and then after a while, he seemed to have walked around the main parts of the island long enough as he started to move to the south part of the island. I stood up from my spot in the pub and paid my money before I exited the bar. I stood outside the bar before I activated another ability I hadn't used since I acquired it. {Presence Concealment:EX}. The moment I activated that ability, my presence vanished from perception and senses and I literally vanished from my initial position the next second. I appeared in the sky above the forest in the south part of the island and I quietly watched the attacker jump through the trees ,running towards an outpost. I noticed the moment I focused my observation haki on the forest and the forest alone. A grin slowly emerged on my face as the attacker led me to the bear ,who's overbearing presence I could sense on the outpost.
