Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Appearance of the Shinigami
In the shroud of night, a spatial rift quietly unfurled its darkness.
"Ichida, if I don't break your legs tonight, I won't have a place in Karakura Town tomorrow," one of the thugs sneered, rolling up his sleeves, his face a mask of rage.
"Kasi, you might want to reconsider. A few more punches, and you'll be done for," Ichida taunted, blood smeared across his mouth's corner.
"To hell with you! I'm going to crush your skull!" Kasi lunged forward, fists aimed at Ichida's face.
"Just you?" Ichida prepared to counter, but his eyes abruptly widened.
Before even taking any steps, a radiant white light materialized behind him, and then his entire form was sliced in two which resulted in a torrent of blood splattering Kasi.
"Ah!!!"
Unforeseen events left Kasi stunned and in disbelief. Ichida's corpse in the ground twitched splattering more blood.
But before he could even wail, his body was also cleaved in half!
A gruesome sight unfolded, filling the air with a pungent stench.
Roar!!!
A deafening roar accompanied the arrival of a towering figure.
This being was a humanoid monstrosity, half-armored, boasting razor-sharp limbs, and a vast void within its chest.
This was no ordinary Hollow.
This was a formidable Menos Grande!
The moment this Menos Grande appeared, the sky seemed to drown in an abyss of Reiatsu, so terrifying that it disrupted the very air's flow.
Beneath this oppressive weight, the atmosphere itself wailed, and the night sky took on an aura of despair.
Coincidentally, Katsuki was nearby, struggling to stifle his screams after witnessing the gruesome spectacle.
"My luck is truly horrendous. Having the Attribute System is fantastic, but I still need time to grow!" The Menos Grande's overwhelming Reiatsu made him want to curse.
Meeting a Menos Grande right from the get-go? What kind of twisted fate was this?
Typically, humans couldn't perceive spiritual entities. Only with a high concentration of Reishi could they sense the presence of Shinigami and Hollows.
Katsuki, however, defied this norm. Bound to the Attribute System, he could sense it all!
"Roar..."
The Menos Grande roared, its back turned to him, exuding its seething Reiatsu.
"This is unreal. Starting the game with a Menos Grande poised to end me? This plot is insane!" Katsuki ground his teeth, ready to flee, resigned to his unfortunate transmigration to this realm.
But...
He couldn't elude the Menos Grande's perception!
Roar!!!!
The roar reverberated through the heavens.
The Menos Grande pivoted, its gaze locking onto him.
"Uh-oh, looks like it's time to confront death." Feeling the Menos Grande's deathly glare, Katsuki gave up struggling, cursing his ill-timed arrival in this world.
Just when he thought all was lost.
Two distant voices reached his ears, igniting a glimmer of hope.
"Phew... we made it in the nick of time, or the consequences would've been dire!"
"Asai, we're already too late; two humans have perished."
"Nothing we can do. Karakura Town is very large; even if we sensed it immediately, we couldn't ensure successful intervention each time."
As the conversation became clearer.
Two figures materialized in the somber sky.
On the left stood a stubbled man, while the one on the right appeared more slender. Their only commonality was their Shinigami attire!
"Oh my god, Shinigami have finally arrived!" Katsuki sighed with relief, thanking every god he knew "I knew it. Even in a movie, it wouldn't be this suspenseful."
Commencing with a death sentence - who would ever choose such a transmigration?
"Hmm, intriguing. This human can actually perceive us?" Asai observed the human with surprise.
"Asai, are you hearing things? There's obviously no Reiryoku fluctuation around him." Honda, the other Shinigami, examined Katsuki closely.
"You're the one hearing things. He clearly said 'Shinigami!' " Asai rolled his eyes. "But you're right, there's no Reiryoku fluctuation around him, yet he can perceive us. It's truly peculiar."
"Let's not dwell on that for now. We must deal with this fellow first!" Honda, not concerned with the human's origins, swiftly shifted focus to the Menos Grande.
"Don't underestimate it; we don't want to end up as its prey!" Asai cautioned solemnly.
"This shouldn't be happening. How could a Menos Grande suddenly appear in the World of the Living, and its Reiatsu is slightly off," Asai furrowed his brow, sensing that something was amiss.
Hollows, as their name suggests, are malevolent spirits that manifest in the living world due to unresolved attachments, grievances, or other lingering obstacles preventing them from passing into the afterlife.
Certain Hollows, subjected to years of torment and external influences, can expedite their transformation into Menos Grande. If a Hollow relentlessly consumes other Hollows, it can ascend to the status of a Menos Grande.
Menos Grande are classified into three tiers: Gillian, Adjuchas, and Vasto Lorde.
Gillians, for the most part, possess a uniform appearance and modest abilities. They arise when a particularly potent Hollow devours the Reiryoku of hundreds of ordinary Hollows.
They are colossal, lumbering creatures, their intelligence akin to animals, capable of rending the very sky to infiltrate the living world.
The one before them undeniably belonged to the Gillian echelon!
Roar!!!
As the two Shinigami drew their Zanpakuto, the Menos Grande directed its gaze toward them.
With a spine-chilling roar, its malevolence radiated, possessing the power to corrode the minds of those who beheld it.
For any ordinary human capable of seeing Hollows, this could lead to an emotional collapse due to sheer terror!
"What a chilling Hollow. We must eliminate it without delay, or it will unleash endless chaos!" The two Shinigami exchanged glances, recognizing the gravity of the situation.
As the battle loomed.
Katsuki concealed himself nearby, exhilarated by the unexpected chance to gain attributes amidst the impending conflict.

So, a thing that is confusing for me is Reishi, Reiatsu and Reiryoku, especially because this is a translation.
Well, here's what I think those terms mean:
Reishi: Spiritual Particles, it is what every being is composed of (Humans, Hollows, even buildings in Seritei)
Reiryoku: basically Spiritual Energy, which is similar to things like chakra and mana.
Reiatsu: it is basically the output of Reiryoku.
So in this fic, I'll consider Reiryoku and Reiatsu the same.
