Chapter 2: -2- Are you an idiot?
Just as Kirisu Kazuto thought that Shirogane Miyuki's movie discussion might be a ploy to approach him, he couldn't ignore the well-known saying, "The opposite sex
is just for reproduction, while the same sex is true love."
In an instant, Kirisu Kazuto's mind raced through various possibilities. Shirogane Miyuki continued, "Kazuto, I haven't watched a movie with a girl before. Help.....help me practice."
Shirogane Miyuki lowered his head, unable to see Kirisu Kazuto's expression. If he weren't well-mannered, Kirisu Kazuto might have been tempted to smack Shirogane Miyuki on the head.
What's with this sudden springtime of emotions?
Feeling somewhat played, Kirisu Kazuto wasn't in the best mood, but since Shirogane Miyuki had bowed and made the request, he couldn't just brush it off.
Friends still spend time together, and after a brief thought, Kirisu Kazuto nodded. "Alright, but let's keep it a secret."
Fortunately, they were the last ones in the classroom. If their previous conversation had been overheard, who knows what they would be discussing about Kirisu Kazuto and Shirogane Miyuki.
"Oh, I've already noticed it. These two have had a special bond since the first year of high school. It's a secret romance, isn't it?"
It's not Kirisu Kazuto bragging, but his image faintly reflected on the classroom window—slim figure, yet a face that's remarkably handsome, with well-defined features, delicate eyebrows, and clear eyes, a typical nice-looking guy.
But compared to the young male idols of his previous life, there's an added air of coolness.
Therefore, even though Kirisu Kazuto agreed to help Shirogane Miyuki, besides the two of them, no one else should be privy to this matter.
Kirisu Kazuto felt that agreeing to Shirogane Miyuki's request showcased the value of their friendship. He thought he was just simulating tomorrow's movie scene with Shinomiya Kaguya, and luckily, there's a similar movie playing this afternoon.
As for the movie ticket's cost, Shirogane would cover it. He might be asking for help, but he shouldn't burden Kirisu Kazuto financially. Besides, he saves money most of the time and works part-time on weekends and holidays. The cost of two tickets is nothing.
Now, at noon, Kirisu Kazuto and Shirogane Miyuki had agreed to meet near the cinema at 4 PM. Shirogane Miyuki went to the student council, while Kirisu Kazuto was headed back to his apartment.
Kirisu Kazuto's apartment was about a 20-minute train ride away from Shuchi'in Academy. It's not that he doesn't want to rent a closer place, but as a student in Tokyo without parental supervision, living alone raised concerns. Fortunately, his older sister is working in Tokyo and is a teacher, Kirisu Kazuto's sister, Kirisu Mafuyu, teaches the second grade in Ichinose Academy High School.
Ichinose Academy has a decent college acceptance rate, but in Kirisu Kazuto's eyes, it's just a "decent" ordinary high school. It's quite a distance from Shuchi'in Academy.
Shuchi'in Academy was originally founded for nobles and wealthy families. Despite the abolishment of the aristocratic system, this prestigious institution still draws in many affluent families and future leaders of the nation.
Those who can enter Shuchi'in Academy as transfer students aren't ordinary individuals. At the very least, they're not academically weak, who doesn't have any financial backing like Kirisu Kazuto.
Taking out his keys from his bag, Kirisu Kazuto unlocked his apartment door. Since they're siblings, no one would gossip about them sharing an apartment. There weren't any shoes at the entrance belonging to his sister, indicating she hadn't returned yet.
Even though he had tidied up his room before heading to school in the morning, it was already a mess again.
"Changed underwear..."
Could she please not casually leave those lying around? He'd told her countless times to no avail. Even if she's in a hurry in the morning, it wouldn't take much extra time to toss them in the laundry basket.
Between siblings, there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. Kirisu Kazuto had zero interest in his sister's underwear. He picked them up from the floor and threw them into the laundry basket in the bathroom, where he puts clothes that need to be washed together.
Spending half an hour finishing up homework, since Kirisu Mafuyu isn't adept at cleaning or cooking, Kirisu Kazuto checked the time and decided to head out to buy ingredients for dinner.
Locking the door behind him, the money spent on groceries falls under shared household expenses. It's covered by Kirisu Mafuyu. He still has 12,000 yen on hand, not including his pocket money. Spending shared funds should be reported, and if he exhausts them, he can ask his sister for more.
Outside the supermarket, Kirisu Kazuto was about to enter, but a long-haired girl with hair cascading to her waist was peeking inside, blocking his path. Judging by her school uniform, she's from Ichinose Academy.
He gave her a brief glance.
Furrowing his brows, Kirisu Kazuto waited behind the girl for a moment. Seeing that she still wasn't moving, he spoke up, "Excuse me, are you going in?"
"Sorry." Furuhashi Fumino was approached by someone, and in an instant, she understood that she was blocking the way for others. She quickly stepped aside, clearing the entrance, and apologized, "I'm sorry. It's against the school rules to buy things on the way home from school, but I really wanted to try the convenience meals they're selling at the supermarket today."
"Ah, it's not that I wanted to buy them just because I wanted to eat them. It's that I wanted to eat... Ah, no, I meant I wanted to buy them to eat later."
At first, Kirisu Kazuto felt that the girl might be trying to hide her foodie tendencies, but as time went on, she seemed to grow anxious.
And then, seeing her face directly, she turned out to be a beautiful girl, matching the temperament of her back. Kirisu Kazuto let out a light sigh. He wasn't a pushover, but the girl seemed really eager. Since he was buying cooking ingredients anyway, he decided to help her out. "Which one do you want? I'll get it for you."
"It's alright, thank you."
After he spoke, the girl seemed to hesitate. Kirisu Kazuto explained, "There are rules against buying things after school, but if I help you, it won't be violating school rules."
"Then please help me with it." Appetite overcame her restraint, and the girl thanked him in a low voice.
Buying cooking ingredients didn't take long, and he also picked out the convenience meal she wanted.
The supermarket's vegetables and meat were all pre-packaged. He inspected them before placing them in his basket, and then he went to the cashier to pay.
"Here, your lunch." Once they were outside the supermarket, he took out the convenience meal the girl needed from his bag. "It's a total of 480 yen."
"Thank you." The girl took the meal with one hand and handed over the money with the other. She thanked him once again, "I'm Furuhashi Fumino."
"Kirisu Kazuto." Kirisu Kazuto handed her the change.
Since they exchanged names, he couldn't forget his manners.
Hearing the name Kirisu, Furuhashi Fumino's heart skipped a beat. Recently, Kirisu-sensei at school had been her teacher, and her days had been quite challenging. Unconsciously, she blurted out, "Oh, your last name is Kirisu?"
In all fairness, after introducing themselves, they should've exchanged a few more pleasantries rather than jumping directly to, "Oh, your last name is Kirisu." Saying it like that might come off as impolite.
However, Furuhashi Fumino's tone carried a hint of melancholy, as if she had experienced something profound.
Curiosity got the better of him, and Kirisu Kazuto inquired, "What's with the last name?"
Had Furuhashi Fumino realized what she'd said, she would have probably stopped and apologized for misspeaking. But once she got lost in her memories, she tended to forget the context. Without much thought, she blurted out again, with a vacant look, "Anyone with the last name Kirisu is a demon!!!"
