Chapter 27: Becoming A Discple!
Elder Sun seemed in a hurry; she increased her speed to the examination hall; they arrived just behind a particular building she called the medicine hall.
Entering the receiving room, there were no disciples, only a middle-aged elder sitting behind the table sect; he wore the same robes as Elder Sun and was calm as a still sea.
Since he knew of their arrival beforehand, he was not so surprised when he saw the boy, but he had to admit that Phate would cause a lot of chaos in the sect. His status alone would have been enough, but he got the looks, too—no wonder the sect leader wanted to spread the news of his presence in the sect everywhere.
It was to attract more disciples to join the sect when the subsequent sect examination came.
"Elder Sun, what a pleasant surprise you're the one who chaperoned the young prince here! Young man, you're a fortunate one. This one here treats most people indifferently apart from the leaders and some core disciples." The elder was a talkative type.
Phate smiled in return to the warm behavior of the elder; he quite liked this elder.
He was also not so much unnerved by Phate's presence as the first two elders he encountered.
He mounted to nothing more than a new disciple before this elder, not that Phate hated it.
"Elder, Gao, I have brought the prince for assessment. I will leave him in your care while I inform the leaders!" Elder Sun said to the man known as Elder Gao.
"Come on, there's nothing to test on this handsome young man. He's just flawless for the sect criteria. From his looks, his cultivation is good too, and I doubt he has any issues with his little brother, do you, Young prince?" Gao asked. Phate chuckled and shook his head.
Sun blushed at his comment, although an elder of a Dual cultivation sect still saying such a thing in the open was just too outrageous for her. She has only dual cultivated with one partner, so no wonder she was shy.
Thalia also blushed.
"See, I don't think the leader would tell you anything different. Just explain to him the rules and everything as I go to inform them myself after we take him to the technique hall. Am going to disturb you on that elder Sun!" he left right after that.
"Prince, the sect has rules you have to follow. While you're here, your status means completely nothing here; you're a disciple just like the rest!"
She started explaining to him the rules. Among them, the rules forbid elders from having an affair with disciples apart from core court disciples, that is.
But still, some sneaked and did it.
"I was looking forward to cultivating with you, elder Sun. It's such a shame!" Phate teased her.
"Rules are still rules at the end of the day, prince," she turned to the side after her ambiguous words.
Her words had two meanings to him: either she couldn't break rules to cultivate with a disciple until he was a core court disciple or that people made rules and it's people to break them. He leaned toward the latter from what he had analyzed in her behaviors and the nature of the sect.
Anyhing came after dual cultivation and desires here.
After she explained what he wanted most, the Dual cultivation techniques, the Cherry Blossom Sect provided cultivation techniques to all disciples, not just the most talented as local sects did. However, still, it took your talents to get better techniques.
The sect provides you with it, and it was your potential that would cut you short!
How?
He was eventually going to find that out. Elder Sun went to a particular room and came back with sect robes.
Strangely, no one questioned the presence of Thalia after knowing his identity; although he was like the other disciples of the sect, he was allowed to come with a maid to help him, and they thought she was his maid.
"These are your sect robes, disciple Phate; if you want more than two pairs, you must pay for them on your own. The sect only provides new pairs after four months, the same with your maid. If you want robes for her, you must pay for them at the sect Exchange Hall.
"Now, we should only wait for Elder Gao to come back. The patriarch will come after we go to the technique hall and get a dual cultivation technique. Do you have one? " she asked, and Phate shook his head.
Looking at him, Elder Sun wondered why the Goddess would send her son to a dual cultivation sect.
He had the ice talent, and she could tell it was the top she had ever come across, yet the Goddess did not nurture the boy herself; instead, she sent him a dual cultivation sect!
"Curiosity killed the cat, elder Sun, hehe..." When he saw her staring at him so much, he guessed she was curious and teased her; Sun Lei just diverted her gaze with a shake of her head.

"Patriarch Zhang, Junior Sun greets you!" elder Sun suddenly bowed to the direction of the door, and they were prompted to turn.
A handsome man who seemed to be in his twenties appeared before them. Even Phate had to admit that the man had good looks.
He had a fair-skinned face, blue eyes, and a good body build. It was very refined, not too explosive like body cultivators, but still wouldn't lose so much to them.
His height was the same as Phate, colored in a pure black robe; it did not have any design on it, but it was of high quality, only lost to Phate's clothes in quality.
With the second stage, the High Immortal realm, he deserved being the patriarch of the sect and the respect he was getting from the Sun.
He was patriarch Zhang He of the mighty Zhang family!
But to Phate, who had a high perception of sexually related affairs, the man stunk bodily fluids. He nodded to the woman without looking at her.
He looked intently at the Phate without taking his eyes off him. He felt threatened. He was not only one of the most handsome men in the Dark realm, but he was the top in the sect as well; someone with a better appearance than his and power was a threat; good enough, the boy is still an outer court disciple!
