*Roar*
Suddenly, I could hear the roar of the tiger in the distance behind me.
*Rustling*
*Chirp*
The trees began rustling as the sound wave passed through, and the birds in the jungle began chirping as they tried to escape from it.
*Thud*
But before they could fly further, another invisible wave, similar to a reverberation, washed through the vicinity of the tiger, making them fall from the sky. A constant ringing resounded in my head as well when the wave passed over me.
[Is that what I think it is?]
I asked myself. While it's not impossible for a beast to possess such power, to the best of my knowledge, I was unable to recall such an incident.
"Let's just hope it's not what I think it is."
[Observation Haki]
I said this as I began searching for the birds that had fallen to confirm my suspicions. But to my surprise, it seemed the birds had regained consciousness already, as I could sense them fly away with my Observation Haki.
Knowing that any more efforts would be futile, I made my way deeper into the jungle. The number of animals around me in the jungle, be it monkeys, birds, or snakes, has increased exponentially.
As I kept on walking, I saw a huge mountain towering before me, with a height of at least over 300 meters and an extremely rocky and slanting slope.
*Ook ook*
*Ook Ook*
I could hear faint sounds coming from the top of the mountain. Undecided as to whether I should climb the slope, I pondered. While it would be possible for me to use my [Void Step] to traverse the terrain, continuous usage to climb over 300 meters would still be too taxing, not just on my body but on my mind too. And charging into a potential battlefield while fatigued or exhausted is never something I would willingly do.
Since I had spent a bit of time observing the tiger and searching for the birds that had fallen, the sun was already beginning to set with not more than an hour or two at most before dark. I decided to walk around the base of the mountain to see if there were any paths that I could take leading to the top of the mountain.
After walking for about half an hour, though I had found some less steep paths, it was not much better and wouldn't be that much easier to climb. As such, I decided to return to my tent back at the shore with some snakes on me for a meal as I wanted to have a taste of it.
~Back at the Shore~
On the balcony beside the fireplace, on top of it were three snakes, perfectly skinned, and their heads missing as they were pierced on a skewer. Its body sizzled as the fats began coming out of it due to the heat.
[Smells delicious]
I thought to myself as the smell permeated through the air around the fireplace.
*Munch*
Picking up one of the skewers to have a taste, I ate it. The flavor was similar to chicken, making it absolutely delicious and fulfilling. Then, without taking a break, I finished the other two in no time.
After finishing my meal, since there wasn't much to do, I began practicing controlling my daggers with my Devil Fruit powers before I went to sleep.
~The Next Morning~
After working out and training myself, I began fishing with my daggers. However, it was a bit hard to catch the fish at the beginning due to the refractive index of the water making them appear where they weren't to my eye, which is above the water. But I quickly became accustomed to it.
Finishing up my meal, I prepared myself to go back to the mountain where I had left yesterday without exploring it. The sounds I had heard coming from the top of the mountain made me believe there must be a civilization of tribes settling there.
~At the Base of the Mountain~
Finally, finding a path that would be the easiest for me to climb, I began making my way to the top.
Reaching the top of the mountain, the place resembled a plateau and I could see a few trees around me as I kept following the trail before I got to see a huge rock-cut temple-like structure in the distance. Three-arching design with several carvings laid on the front. And below the middle arch was a throne, and on it sat a huge beast as it slept. Behind that throne is an azure crystal, with a crack down the middle.
In front of the temple is a huge yard that spans several meters and in the middle of the yard is a huge bonfire probably from the night before that has been extinguished. And around it, I could see an army of apes sleeping on the ground.
