Chapter 21: The Abyss

Upon arriving at the entrance to the school, he showed his student ID and entered. The time now is 12 o'clock exactly, and there are still 2 hours left before they have to pick up Jeni and take her home. Noah peeked in to take a peek and after seeing that Jeni was still studying hard, he walked straight to the headmaster's office. Upon arrival, he greeted the headmaster's assistant and then made his intentions known. The assistant informed the headmaster of the situation as well.

After a while, the headmaster came out of the office with a smile on his face. He was followed by an old man as well. After the two appeared in front of Noah, Noah was shocked to realise that the old man was actually the Guildmaster of the Ghost Hunters' Union, but couldn't understand why the headmaster had come to the school.

Seeing Noah's puzzled expression the Guildmaster also smiled and replied, "I'm here today mainly to discuss the newcomer duel with your headmaster, but I just realised that you're from this school." Noah also scratched his head to ease his embarrassment.

The headmaster also asked the reason for Noah's visit at that moment, and Noah looked at the chairman beside him. The Guildmaster feigned sadness and said, "It seems that Noah still doesn't trust me." The headmaster, on the other hand, laughed out loud and said that the Guildmaster was someone who could be trusted, and he had sent a handful of talents to the capital over the past few years. Hearing this Noah stopped being vague and explained what he could do to get more resources and care from the world government.

The Guildmaster looked at Noah then said, "Do you remember the card I gave you last time?" The headmaster instantly looked nervously at the Guildmaster standing next door upon hearing this, and Noah pulled out the Star Level Card that the Guildmaster had given him earlier.

The Guildmaster then said, "That's right, this star card allows you to participate in the genius training camp afterwards, which gathers the nation's genius seeds. I came here this time to discuss the newcomer duel with your headmaster, in addition, I also said that you should be the one to enter inside the genius training camp this time."

The Guildmaster looked at the dumbfounded Noah thinking that he was shocked by what he had just said and expressed, but at the moment Noah was thinking back to his previous life at this point in time at the Genius Training Camp. However his previous life was not enough to qualify for the training camp but this life was different. Noah quickly returned to normal and then asked for the exact date of the training camp.

After knowing that the training camp would be held next week, Noah walked over to the testing machine and punched it. The numbers quickly spiked at a speed that was hard to observe with the naked eye until it stopped at 8790. The headmaster was clearly dumbfounded, but the Guildmaster stroked his moustache and said, "Then if you want to show your strength, does it require any resources. With this level of force you have now, you should already be at full bronze level, and in desperate need of a silver advancement star core." Noah nodded to indicate that was correct. His primary purpose of coming here was to know how to obtain a Star Core.

However, the Guildmaster said, "I have a Silver Advancement Star Core in my hand right now, and I can also give it to you as a way to send geniuses to the country. But do you want to obtain it yourself." Noah's hand that he wanted to extend shrunk upon hearing this and subconsciously said Abyss. However, the Guildmaster's eyes focused when he heard it, and he asked Noah why he knew about the Abyss.

Noah at this time also understood that he accidentally said the world-class secrets that he knew in his previous life, so he seriously said that he was the last time he travelled to the ghost area to steal and heard someone say that there are many star cores of advancement produced there.

After hearing this, the Guildmaster put away that look as if he could eat people and explained, "That's right, the Abyss is indeed the only way to obtain advancement star cores, that's why I just wanted to ask you if you're willing to go to the Abyss and obtain advancement star cores on your own." Noah had thought about it before finally agreeing. He had to gain more power, being in the greenhouse all the time obviously wasn't possible, he had to fight other powerful species of ghosts and monsters to gain more while obtaining star cores.

After seeing the fervour in Noah's eyes that filled his eyes when he agreed and his determination to become stronger, the Guildmaster decided to take him to the Abyss tomorrow. All decisions were up to Noah to decide and consider, and he himself would only be a back-up card to save his life when the time came. He wanted to take this opportunity to see how Noah would fare in the face of a completely unfamiliar environment, and whether he would be as frightened or reckless as the others.

After he told Noah about travelling to the Abyss tomorrow, Noah agreed. After all, having a high-ranked Ghost Hunter accompanying him as a back-up, this kind of treatment was much safer than travelling on his own.

During this time, they chatted for nearly an hour and a half, mainly two people asking and one answering questions, Noah did not care, as long as he picked up Jeni on time and went home, it would be fine. After saying goodbye to the two, Noah walked to wait in front of Jeni's classroom. The spot happened to be dead centre for Jeni's viewing, so she didn't know that Noah was standing over there waiting for her, and she could only vaguely hear the other students talking next to her.

The bell rang and Jeni walked out of the classroom with her little friend as usual. Noah also nudged the back of Jeni's head at that moment. Jeni and her little friend turned their heads to look at it in confusion. They saw a handsome young man standing right behind them, and the other girls, who thought it was another person to get their number, so became wary. This was the era of ghost hunters, and everyone, including the girls, had some ability to protect themselves and face the small dangers with open arms. But a light breeze suddenly drifted beside the other girls, and then they saw Jeni run up to the young man.

The young man, who was naturally Noah, spoke, "School's over? Go home and get an ice cream for later." Next to her, Jeni happily answered, "Yes, bro." Her little friends all looked at the siblings in front of them with their jaws dropped in shock, and one of the girls took Jeni by the shoulders and whispered, "Jeni, is this your brother? Can you give the sisters a contact." Noah, who was at the back, relying on his current strength, naturally heard everything. Afterwards, Jeni gave the girl a blank stare and said, "Don't even think about it. " Just kidding, I treat you as a sister and you want to be my sister-in-law.

After casually throwing her school bag to Noah, Jeni pulled Noah's arm and left.
