Chapter 6: Chapter 6

As Prince Henry watched the last of the guards depart, he couldn't help but close his eyes for a brief moment. Unbeknownst to anyone, tears welled up and traced their silent path down his cheeks. His mind was a tumultuous sea of emotions and uncertainties, a storm he couldn't put into words. The weight of his responsibilities as a prince pressed upon him, but he found himself unprepared for the devilish challenge that lay ahead. There were no lessons, no history, and no guidance that could have prepared him for a kingdom at war with invisible demons.

With his eyes still closed, Prince Henry shook his head, as if hoping to shake off the surreal nature of it all. Yet, the grim reality persisted. His love for Princess Helena, his only sister, was a blazing fire within him, and he was determined not to let her fall into the clutches of the devils, consigned to an eternal torment.

Exiting his study, he made a beeline for Helena's room, resolute in his purpose. He explained to Princess Helena that Colin, the trusted guard, would remain in the room until further notice.

"Are you out of your mind, brother?" Princess Helena's voice wavered as she shifted her gaze between Prince Henry and Colin.

Prince Henry met her eyes with unwavering determination. "We know nothing of these creatures, Helena. They are omnipresent, as we've learned from The Bible. They might be in this very room, eavesdropping on us now. I won't take any risks with your safety. My decision stands; Colin will stay with you until I say otherwise. No arguments."

"No! I won't share a room with a man! I need privacy for dressing, for sleeping," Princess Helena protested vehemently.

"I've considered everything," Prince Henry replied firmly, turning to Colin. "And you, Colin, I trust you, but if you even think of behaving improperly towards my sister, I will personally take your head. You are to ensure Helena doesn't meet anyone, including King Alexander and Queen Andrea. Do you understand?"

"I understand, Your Royal Highness," Colin affirmed.

Prince Henry then turned to his sister, gently cupping her face and planting a loving kiss on her forehead before hurrying away, leaving Princess Helena and Colin alone in the room.

With her brother's departure, Princess Helena returned to the window, her gaze fixed outside. "What is Henry planning?"

"He has summoned representatives from various religious orders to meet him before your birthday, Your Royal Highness," Colin reported, still standing at attention with his hands behind his back. "And tomorrow, Prince Henry is set to confront the devils."

Princess Helena turned abruptly. "He's what?"

"Prince Henry is planning to meet the devil tomorrow."

"What on earth does he intend to do?"

"I do not know the specifics of Prince Henry's plans, Your Royal Highness."

"Where will this meeting take place?"

"Here in the Kingdom, in his study."

"Has he lost his senses? Where is he now?"

"I do not have that information, Your Royal Highness."

"What is he up to?" Princess Helena murmured, almost inaudibly.

For the remainder of the day, Princess Helena remained at the window, her thoughts a whirlwind of confusion and apprehension. As the sun dipped below the horizon, she retreated to her bed, seeking solace in sleep, if only to momentarily escape the harsh realities that now loomed before her, and the uncertainties that the coming days would undoubtedly bring.
