Chapter 14: Join The Army

Charlotte's POV

I can't bear this pain. It's too much. What is happening to me? What is wrong with me? I rolled sideways on the tiled floor trying to bear and endure the pain and at least make it to stop, but to no avail.

"What is happening to me?"I screamed out and at that moment I also felt my wolf in pain as well, so the fact that we both were in pain wasn't helping matters at all.

I managed to drag myself up when the pain subsided a little and sat on the edge of the bed."Our mate." my wolf whispered to me and as much as I disliked him, I couldn't bear the pain of losing him.

Furthermore, I stood up and rushed to the door and opened it but was halted by another strike of pain and I fell again. Right now, my heart is burning like the furnace of fire, and then it dawned on me that my mate isn't in pain nor is he dying, but there's more to it.

He is making love to another Werewolf, whereas I'm bearing his mark.

Tears flowed down my cheeks as the pain continued. Didn't he think of this before marking me? Why do I have to be the one suffering?

For the first time in my miserable life, I sobbed like someone who had been beaten. At a point, the sobbing made the fire in my heart burn even more, so I let it out. I wailed at my unfortunate life.

Right now, I have a reason to question the moon goddess. I have always said that she's right and has a reason for doing whatever she does but right now, I want to know her reason for bringing me into this damn world, to suffer?

Isn't there any other person who can share this cup of suffering with me? Why me?

Yes, I'm strong. After all, I decide to bury whatever comes to me and still stand as though it never happened because I've always thought that finding my mate would be the end of it all. Right now, my only wish is for the earth to come to an end.

Furthermore, I didn't know when or how the pain stopped as I drifted off to sleep. I woke up to the chirping of birds and the penetration of the rays of the sun into my room. I looked around and noticed that I was still lying on the floor.

Standing on my feet, I walked into the bathroom and took a cold shower, after that, I opened the closet in the room, praying hard that there would be clothing in it as I came with none and thankfully the closet was filled with all kinds of dresses.

I picked tight pants and a t-shirt, which were surprisingly my size. I tied my hair into a ponytail and then walked out of the room with one thing in mind: I am a fighter.'

"Good morning, ma, I was just about to call you, the food is ready and our Alpha demands your presence." She said, and I nodded and followed her lead.

Reaching the dining area, I couldn't help but feel the heavy stare from Jasper, but I care less. I didn't wait for them to ask me to start, I immediately began to eat my food.

"The nerve of you to walk into this dining area and not even say your greetings to your Alpha." Anna snarled, but I didn't even look at her. I concentrated on my food as though I weren't the one she just spoke to.

"Anna, Remember that we aren't supposed to say a word while eating." Jasper reminded her and stared at her for a while, then began to eat.

"Charlotte, follow me to my study." He told me after we were done eating.

I wanted to ask him if that was an order, but I decided to remain silent. Leaving the fuming Anna at the dining table, I walked sideways with him into his office. "Have a seat." He said after sitting in his king-size swivel chair.

"Go straight to the point,'' I demanded while standing in front of his desk.

He didn't say a word but instead twiddled with his finger for a while then looked up at me. I swear that I saw guilt obvious in his eyes, like someone who knows he did something wrong, but then he's finding it difficult to apologize.

Why is he staring at me? Not like he thought of me even for once while he was going on and on with Anna in the room. It didn't occur to him that he was inflicting pain on me. For a second, I almost lashed out at him, but then I felt that perhaps that's what he wanted, for me to feel pain and misery then come crumbling to him.

I won't give him the reaction he wants. "Jasper? Start speaking!"I demanded yet again with my hands wrapped around my chest.

He cleared his throat, "I called you here to let you know that you'll be joining my army here. We're preparing for a war against a particular Pack that has been on our neck." He said without breaking eye contact with me.

"If that's all, I will be on my way now," I said and began to walk towards the door.

"Charlotte?"He called out to me as I held the door knob.

"Jasper, I just arrived in this Godforsaken Pack of yours, and you're already making my life a living hell! Why don't you say all you have to at the same time." I spouted as I turned towards him.

But to my surprise, he was just behind me, and we were standing an inch apart from each other, just the proximity caused my cheeks to turn red, and my heart began to beat as fast as a drum.

"Why did you call me back?" I managed to ask despite my pounding heart.

I looked directly at his face, and perhaps it's my first time looking at his face. He has a well-defined jawline, a pointed nose and kissable pink lips that can make anyone fall for his charms. His hair was well-trimmed and styled in a way that complemented his beautiful face. How can someone be this handsome?

The only thought running in my mind right now is that of kissing the hell out of him!

"Even I want to do the same"I heard Jasper say, thereby snapping me out of my thoughts…
