Chapter 6: Last night in town
In the afternoon of that same day, the three arrived at the Astaroth house. Ethan was satisfied with the work of his assistants. When all of them had completed their missions, he gathered them together to express his gratitude and appreciation for their work.
"I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication. You did an excellent job today, and I am very happy with the results. As a token of my gratitude and to facilitate our collaboration, I have assigned you rooms in this house. Elara, you will occupy my previous room, and the other two will have the servants' quarters. I am sure we will work well together in the days to come. Now everyone go bring your things here, also prepare your bags for tomorrow's trip to Highgarden, we will be there for quite a while so pack your things well." -said Ethan, leaving one by one in their respective rooms.
In the courtyard of the house, all the purchased products were organized and stored. Ethan, with care and attention, he began to place the collected fruit into the barrels that he had previously prepared. He knew that fermentation would be a crucial part of the process to turn plums into high-quality vodka and barley into beer. Two barrels for each type of product. And with that he would start negotiating once it was done.
Using his ability Creator, he created with the wood and part of the iron bars some manual crushers for the fruit. Once well crushed, he placed them in the barrels, making sure to evenly distribute the fruit so that the process was efficient. Each barrel was filled with care and precision, with the aim of making the most of the flavor and aroma of the plums and barley.
With the barrels full and the fermentation process underway, Ethan knew he had to be patient and wait for the magic of fermentation to do its work. Meanwhile, he would continue to supervise and guard the process, ready to take the necessary measures.
"Everything is finally over, now we can start the trip to Highgarden. I wonder what I'll find there. In this new life, this medieval town is certainly quiet. The peace here, at least for the moment, allows me to enjoy a good life without too many changes, but it is not what I really want for myself." - thought the young man.
Ethan decided to use the last rays of the sun to work on building three carriages that would be wide enough to carry the four barrels. Using Creator, he quickly made each wooden component fit together perfectly, creating simple but very good quality carriages. Two horses per carriage, and of the three carriages two would be for transporting the barrels while the last one would be for transporting the luggage.
That night, Ethan and his assistants sat together at the dinner table, enjoying each other's company and pleasant conversation. Although each had their own personality and communication style, they formed a cohesive and certainly interesting team.
Elara, the "blacksmith" of the group, was the most reserved and preferred to listen more than talk. Her nodding or shaking of her head often expressed her opinion on topics of conversation. Despite her silence, her presence was valuable since her innate aura of serenity, she calms the group.
Ethan, without wasting time, activated his analysis ability. Every day he became more experienced and the information appeared more clearly. "Elara; Physical: Weak; Mind: Average – High ; Spirit: Average; Age: 19; Moral: Legal Good" – saw the young man. "It seems like I'm getting better and better every time. It's like it's a role-playing character sheet." -He finished thinking while he looked at the other members.
Leandro, on the other hand, was the most direct and honest member of the group. He was not afraid to express his opinions and used to give his point of view bluntly. His directness brought a touch of sincerity to the conversation, and his hunting experience and physical strength made him a valuable asset to the team.
"Leandro; Physical: High; Mind: Average – Low; Spirit: Average; Age: 21; Moral: Legal – Good" – Ethan observed, waiting for these exact results.
Dario, the third of the group, was more neutral in his opinions and rarely expressed his deep emotions. He brought a sense of balance and calm to the group, and his local knowledge and negotiation skills were appreciated by all.
"Dario; Physical: Average; Mind: Average – High; Spirit: Average – High; Age: 20; Morale: Neutral"
After observing each of them, Ethan finished dinner and got up. "Good evening everyone, great work today. Tomorrow morning be ready for the journey. Challenging and busy days lie ahead, so let's take advantage of this night to rest. See you tomorrow."
Elara nods with a small smile, while Leandro and Dario respond with nods and parting words.
"Rest well, boss. Tomorrow will be another day of hard work." - said Leandro.
"Yes, good night everyone. Have a good rest." - Dario ended up saying, also getting up to go to sleep.
With those parting words, Ethan retired to his room.
