Chapter 2: The Nightmares

In the broad daylight, Jacob began to shiver in fear because he is seeing Ghosts swarming around. He did not believe it at first and punched himself in the face to check if this were a dream.

But then he heard something breathing behind him. He tried to look behind him but chose not to; something was definitely behind him and wouldn't go away. The place was dark, and his body wouldn't move. It was like experiencing paralysis.

He was slowly losing his breath, his mind began to lose control, and his body and muscles were shivering abnormally. It was an unreal feeling of fear. Until he passed out because of the overwhelming fear, the ghost left him lying on the floor beside the door. His mother found him unconscious and crying alone.

He woke up and rose quickly. His friend John was beside him, very worried about what happened to him. It was unusual for him to miss class, even if he got sick. John asked, "What happened to you? Me and Marie are very worried about you at school; we thought something happened to you!" Jacob replied, "I am fine; I'm just not feeling well lately."

He got up, drank some water, and questioned himself, "What happened? Why are there ghosts? That wasn't a dream, right?" He panicked about the whole situation. Jacob heard an unusual voice, and his body began to shiver in fear again. He looked behind him and saw a ghost with a terrifying face, very close, breathing beside him. Jacob was barely breathing and panicking inside because of his phasmophobia.

He tried to let out a scream but couldn't, so he ran and went inside his room. John asked what was happening, and Jacob lied and said, "Nothing." John felt like he was lying to him; something must've happened to him.

John left, and now Jacob was all alone. He had to avoid ghosts, so he went outside to buy some snacks, but the unnerving feeling of being stared at; the ghost's eyes were out of its head and followed him as he walked. He went back to his house, and the ghost stopped following him inside. Now he was breathing heavily, his heart about to burst, his lungs working very unstable. "Why me of all people?!" He was scared about the whole situation he was in.

He couldn't live his daily life normally now because of his ability to see ghosts.

The next day came; he had to attend school and woke up. The ghost from yesterday appeared in front of him again, and they stared at each other for a few seconds before it left his room. He was about to enter the bathroom but remembered a creepy ghost was inside, so he didn't wash himself and went straight to school.

He walked into the class, and John noticed that he was really messy today. "Hey, did you bathe?" Jacob made excuses, "Why do you want to know? Of course I bathed."

John noticed Jacob was acting very strange today. Then he asked, "Jacob, tell me honestly as your friend. What happened?" Jacob had no choice but to tell the truth.

After the class was dismissed, they discussed it privately. "So, you see ghosts a few hours ago, huh?" What Jacob said was unbelievable, but John knew Jacob wasn't lying and said, "Jacob, how about we go to the exorcist shrine?"

The Exorcist Shrine was a place where people paid their respects, tossed a coin, and made wishes; it was said to grant them protection from ghosts. The sun was heating them, and Jacob wondered why it suddenly got hot. John responded that it's summer today.

They both entered the shrine while Jacob tried his best not to look at the ghosts outside the shrine. They requested to remove his curse, and the shrine workers quickly alerted and called the Head Exorcist, "Falmir Dela Pena," to ask about the evil curse cast upon him. Jacob honestly answered that he could see ghosts from the moment he woke up, and he didn't know how or why it happened.

After the questions, Jacob and Falmir entered the room and prepared to remove his curse. Falmir began the exorcism while Jacob couldn't understand what he was saying in the ritual, but he had to remain calm.

The candles started slightly moving, considering there was no hole in the wall for air to enter, and the atmosphere grew chilly. There were some voices behind as Falmir chanted. Until the candles were extinguished, and it became dark. There was a sudden loud scream, and Jacob's ears rang from it. There was a sudden strong wind destroying everything inside the room.

Jacob was panicking and didn't know what was going on. Falmir continued to chant even as the curse raged. The scream got louder, the wind got stronger, and the pressure inside the room grew heavier. It was as if gravity was increasing. Falmir was shouting, "Jacob! You must not feel fear! The entity in front of you is just causing you fear! You must remain calm!"

But due to his phasmophobia, a loud strike of lightning hit the ground and brought light to the room. Now Jacob could see the appearance of the ghost, a demon appeared.

It began to laugh maniacally, and Jacob could barely breathe. The wind pressure, the scream, and the gravity began to grow stronger. Falmir called for backup, and a lot of exorcists gathered and chanted at the same time. The demon slowly started being affected, and now it showed its true fear. The demon roared loudly, causing the exorcists to be blown away. The chair was moving and hit Falmir in the head, but he did not give up.

And then everything stopped. Jacob had fallen unconscious. Now, the demon had the opportunity to possess Jacob.

"NOO!!!" Falmir tried to stop the demon from possessing Jacob, but it was too late...

Meanwhile, John was outside, worried and waiting for Jacob to come out perfectly fine. But something was off, and a sudden explosion shook the shrine. John was shocked by the explosion and quickly called the police about it. He immediately called the firefighters because a fire was spreading around the shrine.

John rushed to the shrine and saw the exorcists dead, while Jacob lay on the ground unconscious after the demon had disappeared. He immediately carried Jacob and ran away until another explosion occurred, blowing John away with Jacob. Fortunately, they were out of range, so they were only knocked out.

John stood up, asking himself what had just happened while he was being exorcised. Jacob was still unconscious, everything around them in ruins. All the exorcists were burned to death, and the shrine was destroyed.

John knew that something extraordinary had occurred and that Jacob was at the center of it. He needed answers, and he needed to ensure that his friend was safe. But for now, he could only wait for Jacob to regain consciousness.
