Chapter 12: Big Game

**ALARM SOUND**

**ALARM SOUND**

**ALARM SOUND**

Feeling the repetitive sound of her alarm, he smashed it with a punch, breaking the alarm clock and inadvertently punching a hole in his nightstand.

For Toji, this had been a routine for the past few years, destroying his alarms in one fell swoop. According to him, alarms can be a person's worst enemies. They only had one benefit: to wake you up, but to Toji, the sound of it was the harbinger of the apocalypse, shattering his dream world.

Lazily getting out of bed, dragging his feet due to his immense laziness, he took a few steps before turning to his nightstand and noticing that he had broken it again.

He just sighed in annoyance and rubbed his face in frustration as the same thing happened over and over again.

Walking lazily down the hallway, he washed his face and teeth, then made some breakfast.

After that, he began warming up and stretching because his muscles needed the necessary maintenance to continue functioning and perform at their best.

After warming up, he sat in the room, lost in thought, and began to plan possible scenarios.

Today is the day, Toji thought in his mind. Today was work day, the day he would go to China with Katana Man and Sawatari. While that was the plan, he knew something strange was going on.

"What's in China? What's so important there to Hiroshi? And what exactly were Katana Man and his partner doing working with Hiroshi? What benefits would come from this? Or could it be..."

As he wandered in his thoughts, suddenly a spark of insight hit him and he quickly got up from the couch and headed to his room.

He quickly opened his closet and found his laptop. Typically, he used this laptop to gather information about a target who was public or had at least a portion of his life on social media. It was one of his main sources of information. He also used it when he got a job, although that didn't happen often because his contractors preferred to contact him in person rather than electronically.

Upon opening his laptop, he accessed a bounty website, a platform used to hunt down targets with significant financial or political power. The great thing about this website was that it wasn't limited to Japan; It covered all countries. Mercenaries used this website to kill and make money.

It had a simple system.

You entered the victim's name along with all the information you had, including his photo, his routine, where he frequently spent his time, his relationships, social or political ties, and more. A fixed sum of money is then placed, expressing the value of the target along with the conditions of the job, such as whether he had security or whether he was a demon or demon hunter.

After that, you had to wait for some assassin to take an interest in your work. It should be noted that the smaller the sum of money offered, the less your work will be recommended and the less likely it will be that anyone will show interest.

Like any website of this type, it was anonymous and there was a leaderboard with the highest ranked targets, their status, and their reward.

On this website, you can put anyone; It doesn't matter. You could even put Kishibe here; it doesn't matter.

But what he had come to look for was not a new job, but something more important.

By entering something into the search bar, he found something he didn't want to see and hadn't really imagined finding. When he thought about it mentally, he considered it an unlikely possibility, but it turned out to be true.

His hands and body tensed, and his danger senses went off.

The Chinese Assassins Association had a reward of 100 million for him, and not only that, but the Public Security also had one of 50 million, which increased his value.

On this website, there was something that made many assassins consider it the best option for making money.

"The Bag Effect," or as it was called, this was something that happened when you offered money for a target; Immediately, a general reward would be opened. Anyone interested could offer part of their reward for the designated target, which would increase the general reward and therefore make it more significant once the murder was accomplished, the reward collected in the bag for the target would be inserted into their credit card, basically, it was like putting money in a bag that grew in weight and size to be emptied later.

And this was what was happening with him; his overall reward was 150 million dollars, obviously, the general currency being the dollar since it was the exchange currency here and worldwide.

What surprised him was the fact that they had a picture of his face and information along with his Cursed Inventory Pet and the weapons he had used up to that point, along with his real name.

"So, you plan to take me out of the game," Toji thought as he immediately looked at his information and what they had on him.

Swallowing hard at what his eyes had just registered, he immediately smiled bloodily while sweating a little.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

"Son of a bitch," he hissed with maximum venom and hatred in his voice at this strange turn of events.

There was only one person who would do this and he knew his last name along with all this information.

"Hiroshi," she murmured with intense hatred as she thought of the most painful ways to kill the man.

But then she smiled, a bloody, savage smile. If Hiroshi wanted to play this game, then he would play it too. She would play him brutally and savagely, in his own style, Toji Fushiguro's style.

While she was lost in contemplation of her, the sound of a phone call echoed throughout her apartment, breaking him out of her thoughts.

Getting up to answer the phone, she raised an eyebrow in amusement when she saw the name of the person she was calling.

"Talking about the King of Rome," he thought, amused by the name that appeared on the screen of his phone.

Answering the call, he waited for his favorite contractor to speak.

"I'll be waiting in 10 minutes," a man's indifferent voice came from behind the phone, amusing Toji and causing him to break into a wild smile.

"Okay," Toji responded in the laziest voice possible, trying to hide his eagerness to kill someone.

When he hung up the phone, he simply sighed and walked to his closet where his clothes were.

Once changed, he went to the refrigerator and grabbed a glass of water, which he quickly drank.

Using his index finger, he stuck it down his throat and pulled out a small brown ball.

The ball in the palm of his hand dissolved, revealing the head of an amorphous worm that spat out its own body and wrapped itself around his arm before moving over him and rearranging itself into its usual position, which was his torso, shoulders, and body Toji's lower back.

Taking care of his damn inventory pet, he smiled almost rudely at him as he began to speak.

"We have work to do, friend," Toji said as he gently stroked the head of the worm, whose head rested on his shoulder as if he didn't care about anything.

Walking towards his door, he was shocked when he opened it and found a man pointing a gun directly at his head.

"Any last words, Zen'in?" said the mysterious man dressed all in black with a half mask covering the lower part of his face.

"You're slow," was what Toji said before disappearing from the mysterious man's sight and reappearing behind him.

Honestly, it was foolish of the assassin not to kill him directly without speaking, a rookie mistake in this world, one that was unacceptable. For that mistake, he would pay with his life.

Grabbing his head, he savagely slammed it into a wall, killing the man on impact and leaving a large dent in the wall where his skull had been crushed.

Sighing, he made his Cursed Inventory consume the man's corpse.

Standing up amusingly and smiling confidently, along with his Cursed Inventory, who was smiling just like him, he spoke.

"It's starting out pretty fast, huh? Let's play," .he said, "Toji confidently as he walked away from the apartment with his hands in his pockets.
