Chapter 8: Chapter 5 - Meeting 'Daniel Thomas ****'
MC POV
It took me 4 days to reach the base of the Kunlun mountain range, and another two days and a half to find my destination.
It was surprisingly easy to reach my destination this time.
There were no twists or turns in the way as I was entering the mountains I was fully prepared for various challenges I might face, but surprisingly as soon as I entered the mountain ranges of Kunlun my pendant started resonating with something, I followed its directions and reached this place.
I was more than halfway up the peak of a mountain and I felt the area in front of me strange within my senses and the vibrations coming from my pendant calm down.
I knew I had arrived at the place where the boundaries of the city of Kunlun were hidden.
As I moved forward I found myself disoriented for a second and the next thing I knew I was on the edge of a bustling city.
And as I looked at the city, in a few moments I was surrounded by a few people with their weapons at me.
I chose not to struggle back and let them lead me but I was prepared to defend myself at any given moment should they attack me.
They led me to a place that looked like a mixture of an integration room and a courtroom, they put me in a seat and handcuffed both my hands to my body leaving behind two guards to look after me and the rest went somewhere else in a hurry.
About an hour later seats in front of me were filled with people and they were all waiting for someone as the middle seat was empty 5 minutes later I saw a masked man appearing in the room and taking the middle seat.
It looks like my interrogation was about to begin.
"So, why have we gathered here today?" Asked the masked man as he took his seat.
"My lord we have found that an intruder has entered the city." The guard captain replied.
"Did you find out how he breached the barrier?" This time he sounded a lot more concerned.
"Not yet my lord, we have yet to interrogate him."(Guard Leader)
"Did you have any difficulties in subjugating him?" He asked as he probably attempted to gauge my capabilities.
"No my lord my subordinates said he surrendered without a fight."(Guard Leader)
"You know if you want to know something you could just ask me." I interrupted them.
"So you can speak 'Mandarin' intruder." He spoke as he looked at me
Masked Man POV
His sudden interruption startled me, I see he has been gauging our reactions towards him by staying silent and seems to have concluded that diplomacy is the more favourable option, smart young man.
"I can somewhat but I would prefer if you speak Hindi or English as I am more proficient in them."(Ryan)
I completely ignored his attempts to gain information.
'Cheh, he is completely ignoring my attempts to rile him up and it appears that except for the guards everyone present in the room is much stronger than me, hell even that guard captain feels like someone I will have a tough fight against.'
'I hope my grandparents are high up in the hierarchy.'
"So do tell me, visitor, why have you intruded into our city what is your purpose here." I asked about his intentions.
"I am looking for my grandparents I was told I will find them in this city."(Ryan)
"How did you get here and how did you breach the barrier surrounding the city?" That was what I wanted to know as the barrier is the greatest defence of our city.
"My mother's relic led me here and it is also what I used to bypass the barrier."(Ryan)
"Show it to me."
I need to find out the source of this breach and stop any possibilities that might cause the downfall of the barrier as our enemies won't rest if they find a way to take it down.
I need to verify if this relic of his can cause problems to the security of the city.'
"Can I get these off of me please." asked the intruder raising his hands.
"Release him"(Masked Man)
"But my lord-"(Guard Leader)
"No need to speak further, do you think he can cause any storm with all of his present here?"(Masked Man)
"As you command." (AN- I first wrote 'yes my lord' but for some reason that made his answer a double-meaning one.)
After the intruder was freed he put a hand inside his shirt and brought out a pendant in the shape of a hexagram with the Chinese symbol of 'Li' meaning fire in the middle.
'That is the heirloom of the Lei family how come it is in his possession I will have to ask Lei Kung about this.'
"Go and call Master Lei to come here," I ordered a guard.
MC pov
After 10 minutes a man who appeared to be in his late 50s arrived in the room, he was bald wearing the robes of a monk but they could not hide his well-defined physique and muscles looming under his clothes.
As he entered the room he clasped his fist bowed towards the masked man and said
"Lei Kung pays his respects to the city lord."(Lei Kung)
His voice was stoic like a no-nonsense man.
"Lei Kung, where is the fire token of your family?"(City lord)
"Replying to the city lord it was taken away by a descendant of mine who left the city when a breach was opened about two decades ago."(Lei Kung)
Looks like I found my mother's family.
"So it appears the intruder is telling the truth. Then the matter of today will end here, he will be left to Lei Kung to deal with. Lei Kung, I will leave the boy with you, dismissed."(City Lord)
As he said the last sentence to Lei Kung and left the room the others left after him.
"Why are you here boy and why do you have my family heirloom." Asked the old man Lei Kung as he looked at me.
"This is a relic from my mother I came here to find my grandparents and find a way to strengthen myself." I told him what I was there for
"What is your mother's name?"(Lei Kung)
"Lei Xishi." (Ryan) (AN- pronounced 'zishi')
"I see, so you are the son of that less Xishi."(Lei Kung)
Looks like he knew my mother.
"Are you my grandfather?"(Ryan)
"No, your grandparents left the city the last time the gates of Kunlun opened to look for your mother and bring back the family heirloom."(Lei Kung)
I see.
"Then who are you?"(Ryan)
"I, my child am your ancestor, I am the first of the Lei family. The Lei family line began with me."(Lei Kung)
'Yeah, and I am Christopher Columbus.'
"You don't look that old."(Ryan)
"I am ageless my child, I don't age."(Lei Kung)
'That makes it reasonable, Lord Vishnu did call immortality an easy wish.'
"I see."(Ryan)
"Well you certainly are a strange one, you are one of the few people that I have seen that show no interest in learning about immortality."(Lei Kung)
"Well I have my desires to fulfil and I was told that they are harder than achieving immortality, so it does not really interest me much, all I am seeking is a way to get stronger."(Ryan)
"Interesting, well if it's strength you seek then I can help you with that. Follow me."(Lei Kung)
As I followed him he LED me through the city from one alley to the other and finally stopped in front of what looked like a dojo.
He entered the building and I followed after him, I was led to what looked like a training ground where a few young men appeared to be practising martial arts he let me further into the building and inside I saw a lone young man practising martial arts there he started speaking to the young man
"Daniel come here and lead him to an empty room he will live here from now on, and you boy what is your name?"(Lei Kung)
He asked turning towards me.
"My name is Ryan Angelo you can call me Ryan or Rudra."(Ryan)
As the boy led me into the building where there should have been a room for me to settle he started talking to me
"Hi Ryan, guess we will be neighbours from now on, so how did you get here?"
His voice was slightly rough and I could tell he was deliberately increasing the cheer in his words,
"I searched for the city with the help of my mother's relic it also let me inside the barrier of the city."(Ryan)
"Cool, so why did you come here?"
'Acquiring information, are we?'
"I was looking for strength and I was told to find this city so now here I am."(Ryan)
"Well if you're looking for strength my friend you certainly came to the right place as Master Lei Kung is the best martial arts teacher I have ever heard about, guess this is your place." He said as he stopped in front of a door.
"Thank you."(Ryan)
"Don't mention it. By the way, I am Daniel Thomas Rand you can call me Danny and the training begins half an hour after sunrise, don't be late it won't be pretty."
And so my first day in Kunlun ended.
