Chapter 12: Light's Dark Magic

Light decided to go and see for himself who the person seemingly engaged in battle with Asta and Yuno was.

...

In the heart of the confrontation between Yuno, Asta, and Chain Magic Revchi:

"What in the world is that!? How on earth did a kid like him pull that off!?" Chain Magic Revchi's gaze locked onto Asta, who clutched the hilt of the Demon Slayer Sword, using it to prop himself up. A sinister, winged demon's shadow loomed behind Asta.

"He doesn't even have magic..." Chain Magic Revchi muttered in disbelief.

"This is heavy..." Asta grunted as he tried to lift the sword, its weight pressing down on him.

"Who would've thought..." Asta continued, exerting even more strength to hoist the sword, "That my physical training would come in handy here?"

"It's because of Asta that this is possible..." Yuno couldn't help but smile.

With determination in his eyes, Asta swung his Demon Slayer Sword at the chains of Chain Magic Revchi.

The chains were severed, vanishing without a trace.

"He just... nullified my magic!?" Chain Magic Revchi exclaimed, astonishment in his voice.

"Even without magical powers..." Asta gripped the sword, charging at Chain Magic Revchi, "I'll become the Wizard King!!!"

"I won't give up... My magic!!!" Chain Magic Revchi desperately cried out.

Asta's Demon Slayer Sword struck Chain Magic Revchi, propelling him into a nearby wall with tremendous force.

The impact left Chain Magic Revchi embedded in the wall, unconscious.

"Ah! Gah..." Chain Magic Revchi fell into a deep slumber.

Asta couldn't contain his excitement; he had obtained a grimoire. "I don't know where you came from, but I've got my very own grimoire!!!"

Asta cradled the grimoire like a precious treasure, pressing it against his cheek with pure joy.

Unbeknownst to him, it was a rare five-leaf grimoire.

"Asta, you've saved me once again." Yuno approached Asta, determination in his eyes. "I'll find a way to repay you for your help."

They both exchanged smiles, and Yuno asked, "Remember our promise?"

Asta, hearing this, smiled in response. "I need to hear it from you that you haven't forgotten."

With that, Asta and Yuno drew closer, raising their fists in a fist bump, their spirits soaring.

"Let's find out who'll become the Wizard King first!!!"

However, they remained unaware of Light's distant observation.

"These two are a perfect match," Light mused, a chuckle escaping his lips as he witnessed the scene. He found it especially intriguing that Asta had been chosen by a grimoire.

In Light's eyes, Asta possessed remarkable willpower. Despite lacking overwhelming magical abilities, he radiated determination, akin to the "Will of D" in the One Piece world.

If Asta were in the One Piece world, he'd undoubtedly wield Conqueror's Haki.

Shifting his focus to Chain Magic Revchi, Light saw potential in him—a potential underling with a sinister grin.

Light patiently waited for Asta and Yuno to make their move. It appeared they were guarding Chain Magic Revchi.

As they deliberated, Light made his move, quietly invoking his grimoire's spell.

"[Dark Magic: Eternal Nightfall]," Light's incantation resonated, unleashing his sinister Dark magic.

Asta and Yuno were on the verge of deciding which one of them would stand guard over Chain Magic Revchi while the other reported him to the authorities. But at that critical moment, the ambient light around them dimmed and vanished.

Even though the sun had begun its descent, a crimson tint still clung to the horizon. Yet, an abrupt transformation enveloped the area, casting it into a bewildering twilight.

Asta and Yuno were seized by shock and panic. 'Could Chain Magic Revchi have counterattacked? Impossible! He was unconscious... Could this be the work of another enemy!?'

The encroaching twilight swallowed their surroundings, leaving Asta and Yuno unable to even see each other.

Asta's sense of urgency grew as he scanned the obscure surroundings. "Yuno!!! Can you hear me!? What's going on!??"

Asta's cry echoed, but only an eerie silence, reminiscent of an endless night, replied.

A distant owl's hoot pierced the mysterious atmosphere.

Yuno strained his ears but couldn't detect Asta's voice or any other sound from the environment.

"What kind of magic is this!?" Yuno pondered, his heart racing beneath his stoic exterior.

"I can't even hear Asta!!!" Yuno thought, his unease mounting. Asta shouldn't remain so eerily silent.

The sky, once adorned with a crimson glow from the setting sun, had plunged into complete darkness, save for the eerie, muted white moon in the distance. Its light seemed stifled, failing to penetrate the oppressive obscurity that cloaked Asta and Yuno.

Watching from the shadows, Light found amusement in the bewilderment of his two unwitting captives. Silently, he ventured towards the unconscious Chain Magic Revchi.

"Interesting... I sensed it through Lifebane Detection—his magic revolves around chains," Light remarked, scrutinizing Chain Magic Revchi's grimoire, revealing a mere three-leaf clover.

Satisfaction swelled within Light, and he summoned his Death Flame with a simple thought. No need for a grimoire; Light harnessed the Death Flame effortlessly. He reserved the full might of his Death Flame, typically contained within his grimoire, for adversaries who proved exceptionally formidable or remained in a vigilant and empowered state.

"Death Flame," Light muttered softly, and the eerie, otherworldly flames danced to life in his palm.

With a practiced flick, Light directed the Death Flame towards Chain Magic Revchi, its malevolent energy reaching its target.

"Ahhhhh!!!" Revchi's tortured cry echoed as he was forcibly awakened, his soul writhing in agony. His body spasmed uncontrollably, akin to an intense seizure.

Light observed the torment with cold detachment, devoid of sympathy.

Asta and Yuno remained oblivious to Chain Magic Revchi's tormentor, their friend and ally, Light.

Revchi's wide, pain-filled eyes locked onto the figure before him, a smug grin etched across the figure's face.

"Help!!!" Revchi's plea escaped him, his desperation overshadowing his uncertainty about the figure responsible for his torment.

Light remained unmoved, his smile never wavering. The more formidable the individual, the greater the torment their soul endured when devoured by the Death Flame.
