Chapter 21: Ch-21: Ridhiro vs Renji and Byakuya
Life had settled into a rather uneventful routine recently. I spent most of my time fiddling around with my system, reading the names of the new Kido spells I had acquired as if they were some sort of prized possession. Meanwhile, Ichigo had his hands full dealing with Hollows, and it seemed like nobody had the time or energy to disturb my newfound peace.
My mother, on the other hand, was just as bored as I was. She seized every opportunity to mock me about not having a girlfriend, as if that was the pinnacle of excitement in life. It was all in good fun, though, and I couldn't help but chuckle at her relentless teasing.
As life had fallen into a bit of a stagnant routine for a few days. But then, everything changed, and it felt like the Fire Nation had attacked—just kidding. It was actually some unexpected guests from the Soul Society, namely Renji and Byakuya.
I was in the middle of my chill session when suddenly, I heard a shout that sent shivers down my spine, "Rukia!!" It was Ichigo, and I instantly knew that something was up. It must have been the moment when Rukia was forcefully taken back to the Soul Society by them.
Quickly, I began to get ready, but as I trod down the stairs, I couldn't help but take a peek at my parents. They were peacefully asleep. It was convinient and had happened so many times that I couldn't help but entertain a wild thought—were my parents secretly like Ichigo's father, maybe undercover Shinigami or even Quincy? The mystery only deepened.
As I rushed through the streets, following Ichigo's frantic call, I finally reached the scene. Renji, with his fiery red hair, looked kinda like a monkey with that strange pose he had. Byakuya, well, he gave off that whole noble vibe, like a character from one of those manhwas. But I knew there was more to him than that; he had a good side too.
Rukia appeared resigned, like she had come to terms with her situation. I couldn't just stand there, so I decided to jump in and help.
I couldn't help but blurt out, "Hey, Rukia, these punks bothering you? Let me save the day!" Inside, I was secretly laughing at the situation. Renji got all worked up and retorted, "Who are you calling a punk, huh?" Byakuya, on the other hand, remained as stoic as ever.
Ichigo, sticking to his usual routine, leaped into action and clashed with Renji. It was like watching some weird character development fight, and Byakuya just looked on with his usual indifference.
I called out, "Hey, tall guy, let's fight." I actually knew his name, but I wasn't supposed to, so I played dumb. However, it hardly mattered, considering I had already revealed my powers, which might as well pique Mayuri Kurotsuchi's interest enough to experiment on me.
He just looked at me like he didn't care. I decided to act all tough and said, "Hey, don't give me that look. You're treating me like I'm nothing!" He kind of nodded, but I had a feeling I was just giving him more ammo to make fun of me. Probably because my reiatsu was like a tiny flicker compared to his blazing fire.
Anyway, I got ready to fight, and I had that epic Bleach battle theme playing in my head. I even took off my necklace with all the flair I could muster. But before I could unleash my epicness, there was this thud sound. Turns out, Ichigo lost the first round. Byakuya, the stuck-up noble dude, told Renji to finish him off because he found Ichigo annoying. What a party pooper.
I was about to say something when Renji just jumped at me. So, I decided to show off my Zanpakuto's super special power. I opened the blade as it glowed dimly and as soon as they saw it, everyone froze in their tracks. Renji couldn't help but burst into laughter, "Hahaha, what's that tiny thing, a pencil cutter?" Even Byakuya started giggling like a schoolgirl. Guess my Zanpakuto's trick worked.
Without wasting any time, I yelled out a new Bakudo, "Bakudo #11 Kasai!"
<System>: Bakudo #11 Kasai: It created a localised firestorm, generating intense flames, which can be controlled by caster, using to trap anyone except having opposite elemental abilities.
Man, It seems powerful, and that shout surprised the heck out of everyone. Suddenly, there were these intense flames gathering around me. I proudly declared, "Hey, I can control these!" Then I pointed those flames straight at Renji. Those flames worked like a charm, trapping him real quick and poking holes in his limbs faster than you can say "Zanpakuto showdown."
My move was so epic that even Byakuya had to take his Zanpakuto out and stare at me. Ichigo, lying on the ground, whistled and yelled, "That's Ridhiro for ya! Now you're all done for!" I could practically see the surprise on their faces.
Renji, on the other hand, looked at me with pure horror. Serves him right for underestimating someone just because of their puny reiryoku. He was trapped so badly by the fiery flames that he could hardly move. One wrong move, and he'd be toast. Let's see who comes to his rescue.
I had my hands behind my back, quickly performing hand signs and muttering under my breath, "Bakudo #12 Tōketsu." Byakuya disappeared midway through his attack as if he blinked, and then I cast the spell. His eyes widened as he felt the power taking hold. For the first time, he exclaimed, "What is this power? How can you locate me with such speed?"
<System>: Bakudo #12 Tōketsu: It creates a circular range from the caster, encasing targets inside with thick layer of ice. The frozen state restricts movement and render the target vulnerable.
His body started to freeze, and he looked utterly confused. But as expected, a familiar voice cut through the tension: "Scatter, Senbonzakura." I couldn't help but fanboy a little over that voice. However, my triumph was short-lived as Senbonzakura effortlessly shattered the ice layer. It seemed I couldn't win so easily against Byakuya.
